How do the alumni games at winter classic usually go? Leafs-Wings have 2 diff games, and my TV guide says the whole thing lasts 5 hours. Will it really take that long for all of it?

I think it's on CBC at 1:00pm. Both games back to back.

Man am I ever stoked for that second game. It sucks that Sundin is out, but the rosters for both teams make me all giddy. It's like a deranged legends team where the players are all a mixture of too old. Still, Sittler playing on the same team as Gilmour, Lanny McDonald, Tiger Williams, and Borje Salming!? Curtis Joseph and Felix Potvin in goal? Just like 1999, when Cujo signed, and basically screwed over Potvin's career! A nearly 60 year old Mike Palmateer playing goal against Stevie Y and Brendan Shanahan?

I hope Iafrate grew out his skullet for this one.

****ing Wings went all out on that second roster with guys that could still suit up. Heck, wasn't Fedorov just playing competitive pro hockey yesterday in the Spengler Cup? Detroit is probably just going to play Lidstrom and Rafalski for 30 minutes.

Yep, Fedorov is coach at CSKA Moscow and he played last few games, due to injuries in their team.

And I really hope, that there will be some stream to Europe, because I'd love to see at least second game, but our broadcasters just ignore hockey

Looks like snow likely for tomorrow's Winter Classic!

May make the game a bit sloppy, but it'll be awesome to watch. Similar to the Eagles/Lions from a few weeks back. The actual play may suffer, but it won't matter much to us fans.

I somehow lucked into having today and tomorrow off, so I'm checking out the alumni game now. It's on NBCSN.

Looks like Al Montoya is about to steal the starting job in net from Ondrej Pavelec.

Love what Evander Kane did at the end of the game setting up Anthony Peluso for the empty netter instead of taking it himself.

This thing is loaded with quotes but this one caught my attention.

"Dion was going to get seven years regardless. If we weren't going to pay him, he's going to get it (in free agency)," Nonis said.

This is the definition of poor logic. Because someone else was going to screw themselves signing him for 7/49. We thought it was best to screw ourselves over and sign him instead...

This is a sight I never imagined. Major props to the Wings and UM for getting this together. Beautiful atmosphere. And CBC going with "Wonderwall" for the opening montage. A bit of a miss there.

What a day. My Leafs in the Winter Classic, and then a really interesting Rose Bowl matchup.

That is an absolutely dreadful rule they put in for the 3rd period and OT for this game with the horn going off at the midway point. Only the NHL could think up something that awful.
