Bad News about Sounds of the Show (PS4)

Not sure if this has been mentioned. Just found out that the PS4 won't play thumb drives. Also don't have the media player. So as far as I know there is no way to get all the sounds in. That hurts me deep. Loved having walk up/home run/ and specific stadium sounds.

Old news been known for a while now.

However more then likely Sony will bring back all the missing features from the PS3 in a future firmware update. But yes it may very well be to let for at least MLB 14 The Show. But look for MP3,DLNA,CD and thumb Drive support to be added in the future for sure.

I don't work for Sony but from what I have heard around the web is that all these features will be added to PS4 at some point in the future. If lots of gamers want these features and I believe they do then it makes sense for Sony to bring them back.

It will be fixed, but the question is will something happen in time to benefit The Show 14.

"Sony recently announced that unlike the PlayStation 3, its PlayStation 4 would not be able to play CDs or MP3 files, leading a small but concentrated fan backlash from would-be purchasers upset by the removal of the functionality. Now President of Sony Computer Entertainment Shuhei Yoshida has told Giant Bomb that the PS4 development team is working to add the ability to play both in a post-launch patch."

Hope they leave it in on the PS3. I've gotten very used to hearing Frank Sinatra singing New York, New York after home wins.

I'm okay with this as the music slots didn't work how they do in real life (songs played too long or not at the time they do in real life, etc)

Wasn't perfect but this really kept the game fresh for me. Innings music, HR music, and victory music really made going to different ballparks seem like a different game.

Just keep sounds of the show in for when the ps4 is able to read those. I will be pis sed if they take it out as I use different walkout songs for all 90 players in my franchise. Alot of people use this feature and will suck without it

It keeps the game fresh of course, but for me, it didn't quite Match how it works in real life and so I just scraped it last year. We don't all have to like everything about the game.

Hey guys, Im sure you heard that Microsoft announced a new media player for XB1 that will be compatible with a boatload of different file types, enabling custom soundtracks. Dont you guys think this will force Sonys hand to do something about their lack of media support?

While I admit I don't keep up with all the latest news, I would have to imagine Sony already had plans to put mp3 compatibility into the ps4 in the future, since it can be patched in. My reasoning for this is because they made it impossible to patch in the ps4 as a cassette/vhs player. lmdao

I did this every year I had the game, also did it with the NHL series. Every team, every sound possible.

However this year was the first year I didn't do it for MLB, even though I have ps3. It just got so tiring, because it usually took at least one whole extra long play session to do it for every possible player/event. It just sounded wrong to have most of it be real to life but then some generic tune would come on, I would just have to go change it after that game.

Can't remember if MLB had this particular menu selection, but last year on NHL on one of the last teams/last sounds I accidentally hit "apply to all" or whatever and nearly threw crap out the window. Told myself never again after that year.

I'm still tempted to do it though in MLB, maybe just the teams I play. Maybe I could stand generic for everyone else now. But changing the music is no longer the first thing I thought about doing when I got the game as it had been for years
