    Undefeated Seasons

I know there has been some undefeated seasons of people playing but what about coaching cpu vs cpu games. I have a dynasty going where I just recruit and train but let the computer play the games. I had a team start 35-0 and lose in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. I currently have a team that is 20-0 with an 88 unity that is very good.

I am a cpu vs cpu player, but personally I've never HAD a undefeated team myself, but I've seen one before. I've also seen a couple of team that had great season, but ended up losing a few games towards the end of the season/tournament. It's always fun seeing how far a team can go undefeated, last year in my legacy, Kansas St. could have done it. They were 6-0 in top-25 games, but weirdly they lost 3 times to unranked teams. They also got beat by a 16 seed, which pretty much was the story of their team that year.

I've never had one personally but last year Iona was like 21-0 before they lost. Chicago State went 0-29 and Nevada surprisingly was like 0-22 before their first win

I've simulated for years, I still play every year but it's only recruit, strategy, and sim. I think I've had about 5 seasons where I went undefeated. However, I've probably simulated close to 200 seasons since I bought the game years ago.

I think a few years ago I decided to leave a power program to be the coach at Longwood. The sole reason for going there was to go undefeated. I scheduled a cupcake schedule and didn't lose a game. I think after all of that, I didn't even make the NCAA's. I think my team won the NIT and went undefeated but it was bittersweet. I also think most people here know how hard it is to go undefeated even when you have a powerful team in the SWAC. There always seems to be at least one game a year that catches you off guard. I would highly advise against ever coaching an independence school. Scheduling takes forever, you play less games, and your RPI must be good to make the tournament. I still don't understand how an undefeated team doesn't qualify for the NCAA's. If this scenario played out in real life and an undefeated team finished with an unworthy RPI would they be exempted from the tournament in real life?

Longwood is in the independents right? Did you play any teams from the mid-majors/major/top-25 teams? If you didn't play or win a game against some good teams to make the tourament. ESPECIALLY if you're in the Independent conf. If I team was in that conference, and they actually played solid schools, probably, they could be in just off the headlines/notoriety of being undefeated anyway.

My schedule was in aberration to what I usually schedule. I didn't schedule any good teams that year with the hopes of going undefeated and hopefully winning the NCAAT. I forget quite a bit because it happened a few years ago, but I think it was my first year I had a really good team at Longwood. I thought that the game would just let me into the tournament because I went undefeated. I mean, wasn't Murray State some terrible RPI a few years ago and there was arguing that they should get an at-large if they lost in their conf tourney?

Anyway, I did schedule tough schedules in other years and it absolutely sucks at Longwood. If you played anyone good, it was always a road game. It was difficult for me to find a balance between playing great teams and getting wins. There were a few years where my RPI was good, my SOS was good, but my record kept me out of the tournament. I think the most difficult thing you can do on this game is to take an independents school and simulate to a national championship. I obviously never did that and I'm not really sure if I ever came that close.

I actually let the games play and some times can finish a season in 3 days. I recruit players and do the training. The most seasons I have done at once is 7. I am currently doing another one and this is my 5th season. I did something different in this one. It is fun as you get some seasons in, I think the game plays better as you move forward.

Well the team finished 39-0! In the final 4 game was down 4 with :58 to go and scored the final 6 points and won! I lost my starting PG and starting center and backup center. I lost my 3rd game into the next season so my streak ended at 41 straight.

I almost had another undefeated season but fell just short. I recently took a job at a pretty terrible Auburn program and for the most part, gutted a poor roster. I ended up signing I think 2 3* and 2 4* the first year. In year 2, I had 8 scholarships and signed 6 4* stars and 2 3* stars. It was 3 long seasons but they eventually became the best team I've ever had. When they were all upperclassmen, I started off the year at 98 overall and 6 team unity. Even my 7th guy in the rotation was 90+ overall. The SEC was extremely good that year and we won most of our games by 20-30+. We lost our first game in the conference tournament but went on to win the national championship. 36-1, ended with 100 overall, something I hadn't seen before.

                    Re: Undefeated Seasons

I have never had an undefeated season, and I can't recall seeing it happen in any of my legacies, but I am sure it has happened.

I think the best team I ever had ended at around 2 or 3 losses. I was at Louisiana-Lafayette. I was offered the job there after 5 years at ETSU, and I only left because pretty much my entire team was seniors and I didn't do a good job recruiting. Also, ULL happened to be a stacked team with 4 players projected to be draft picks, and they had a 5-star recruit already signed to attend. I only stayed their 2 seasons, and I lost in the Elite 8 both years. I know I only lost 7 or 8 games combined in those 2 seasons, so both of those teams were the best I ever had in in this game (although one of my ETSU teams was my favorite team I have had on the game, and it's been probably 5 years since I've done that legacy, but I think I may have had an Elite 8 finish as well)

EDIT: I believe I am in year 7 or 8 at Binghamton with easily my most talented roster, and I think this could be a year that I win out, at least until the tournament. Although, Boston U always seems to steal a game from me regardless of if they are good or bad (most years they have been just as good as my team). I would like to make a Final 4 run with this team before either moving to a new school or just starting a new legacy if no appealing offers come up, which so far they have not.

SECOND EDIT: Nope. Simmed the rest of my legacy and never had an undefeated season. I had a 4-loss year 2 years after I thought I had a chance to go undefeated. The legacy in general wasn't going as I hoped (in terms of job offers) so I am going to start a new one soon.

In 35+ year Dynasty where I spent 20+ years at Wisconsin, we had 4 Undefeated National Champion seasons playing only coach mode. It's not easy, I'll tell you that. One of the seasons we went undefeated, I'm not sure we won a game by more than 5 points, and that includes our yearlies against UWM and UWGB.

                        Re: Undefeated Seasons

It's strange how a few teams always seem to trip us up. I'm assuming a lot of it has to do with rivalries? I think I've noticed a little bit more of a struggle against rivals. I enjoyed reading your guys write ups, definitely good to see people talking about choops 2k8 in 2014.

I can definitely understand the frustration of not starting well but I usually simulate legacies and my father has a team as well. I don't think he would appreciate me restarting if I had a bad start to my career haha. How do you guys usually determine who you start with? Personally, I usually take a senior laden roster so I can get as many of my recruits in ASAP.

Anyway, finished simulating my first full legacy. I've had many that went into the late 2030's and some into the 2040's but I always have stopped prior to the end. I felt a little sad seeing the message that it was ending. I still have an urge to play but the most recent was probably my most successful and I know I probably can't replicate it easily.

I started off with Holy Cross and spent about 7 seasons there and then jumped to Auburn where I built a bit of a dynasty. I definitely won more championships there than any other school. However, I had a dry period of about 5 years where I could not bring in any 4* recruits. I ended up jumping to South Florida in hopes that it would give me a recruiting spark. It did not. I spent a few years at South Florida and when I won a championship I hopped to Liberty. I wanted to build a program again and have a lot of control of my schedule. Also, The Big South was horrendous and I thought it would be easy to make 60 overall Liberty dominant because the best team in the conference was only 72 overall and there were many in the low 60s. Although I don't think I was prepared to have 3 starters in the 50s so late in the dynasty and I still could not recruit 4*s. I did end up getting some very good 3*s. I had multiple seasons with under 3 losses (aided by a cupcake schedule), however no championships.

I'm interested in knowing a few things about your guys legacies.

What's the worst team you've had win a championship?

What's the most surprisingly bad team you've had? Maybe a team that was expected to win your conference and you finished towards the bottom.

What is the hardest job you've ever taken and why?

I've only one the championship one time, but I have not had a great tendency of playing through legacies long enough to really have too many opportunities. However, the one I won was at College of Charleston in my 2nd year there. This was when Andrew Goudelouck was there and I was able to recruit 2 7-footers and 2 good shooters and was able to make that team work very well to my style of play. Currently have a legacy that I do plan to make last decades so hoping I can win one finally, as I ended up losing in the Finals in my last year at Morehead State of all places.

I would say that the hardest job I have taken has to be the current one, at UMass. I actually thought taking it would be a great way to start at a good mid-major program and easily be a tournament team every year. Little did I know how good the other teams in the A10 actually are at this point. Without spoiling much (since I'll update in the career legacy thread), St. Joe's won a title and 2 other A10 teams were ranked #1 at some point when I played them. It's been very competitive and I hope to really make my mark at UMass before I leave, but that might not happen.
