Basketball Dynasty Manager (iOS and Android)

Just wanted to start a post on this game that is available on both iOS and Android. It doesn't compete with the bigger games in terms of graphics and it is a basic text sim, but my oh my, does it play well.

There are some limitations, such as not being licensed so you need to change player names and team names. But there is a huge level of depth and the stat outcomes are pretty accurate and well represented.

Here's a link to the app store version if anyone's interested:

I'm going to send a message to the guy who developed it an invite him to come on OS and chat about the game if he wants to.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I think it's a total bargain for $1.99!

The game has alot of depth and is really fun. The other added bonus (for me at least) is that it's one of those games that a single guy so you're supporting this tremendous effort.

It's up to you to see if you want to give it a go, but i think it's great. Take a look at the ios or android reviews and scores too, it's been getting some pretty good feedback.

Got this last week after you initially posted this thread... totally worth the $2 spent... Only thing is, the help doc isn't up for it yet. Would love to know what all the symbols mean on the roster screen during games. Also, what does the region scouting do? Does it actually find extra players, or will I still be able to scout the same players for the draft without doing the extra region scouting???

Yeah I have no idea what the little symbols mean either. And I don't do any region scouting, i don't think it finds new players anyway. I just focus on scouting the rookies in the list. You actually shouldn't have a problem scouting nearly all the players as you replenish your scouting hours after every game, so after every 4 games you should have another 60hours for scouting.

Sometimes the game throws some random events that end up working perfectly. For example, I had the 25th pick in the draft with the Knicks, a player projected as a top 10 pick fell and was available. He was a 19 year old PG from Harlem NY. He has a A potential and is a killer 3point shooter and passer (but weak defender). Made for a perfect story as the Knicks drafted him and he was playing in front of his home crowd. To make things even better, I signed him for a cheap 5 year $7.5mil and he's now my starting PG putting up a 15/8 on a championship calibre team in 2018.

This is the type of stuff that I really dig about this game.

Region scouting might help you find a good player that no other team really knows about. To be able to sign a certain player that you find, you have to request for that player to declare for the draft. If the player agrees to declare for the draft, he will then be in the rookies list near the bottom with the other projected "undrafted" players. Also, every time you select the explore region (even if it is the same region as you are currently exploring) you will used the allotted hours for that country and a new list of players. I haven't seen a player show up twice for a country.

That being said, I haven't had too much luck with region scouting. I tend to stick to the rookie list. If I am able to scout everyone on that list, I then move to region scouting.

              Hope that helps

Don't thank me. Go ahead and thank the guy who made the game! He's a top bloke.

I'm really glad others are enjoying this game as much as I am.

It's definitely interesting but in having a hard time with the financial aspect. Despite having a ton of cap room, I am in the negatives in terms of finances. Any advice?

Finances are for sure not the easiest to get around, especially because after the last update took out the ability to sell bench warmers for 10 million, effectively cheating the A.I. (Rightfully so)

I've had to restart multiple times, It takes some getting used to, but I've done it and now currently in year 2022 coming off a #2 seeding in the east.

Some tips I can offer are:

                      - Do NOT overspend, Just because you have 12 Million in funds, and you CAN sign Steph Curry, doesn't mean you should. This is especially relevant in your first year as a new franchise. No one expects a winning program in year 1, and you will not be a winning program year 1 if you are playing correctly. Moderate success and gradual improvement is better.

                      - Use your merchandising! Fame plays a KEY role in being successful financially. If you have a 100 Fame player, buy that guy some jerseys to sell! It's 1M for 50K jerseys, and selling all of them nets about 2 Mill depending on the talent of the player involved.

                      - Mediocre teams don't sell tickets. Clearly, as in real life, fans don't want to spend hard earned money to watch the Albuquerque Mounties lose by 45 points. Fame and positive badges are very good to have in order to sell out. Tickets are your best money making Item. You won't find a better way to make money besides selling out your arenas.

                      - Don't bring in locker room cancers. This is especially prominent if you plan on bringing in multiple of them. The Andrew Bynum's, Dion Waiters of the world. Guys with low personality will destroy your locker room and lower team hype, thus lowering ticket sales. The especially bad ones to get are ones with the "Crowd Fighter" Badge. If you're going to have a guy on the team that no one likes, he better be worth the trouble.

                      - Alternatively, fans like to be excited. I've had bad teams sell out stadiums because my players light up the arena. Real NBA example would be the Golden State Warriors and OKC Thunder. Fans love to watch KD and Curry so win or lose, they like to show up. The "Show Pony" "Good Looking" and "Explosive" Badges are nice to have in this scenario.

                      - Scouting is your best friend. For now, It seems like cheating, but grabbing unknown's with the scouting option can net some serious talent with those 2nd round picks. You get 60 scout hours every 10 games, so use them wisely.

                      - Finally, Think ahead with your contracts. If you clearly cannot afford a player down the road, do not sign him. If you want to take a shot on a guy for one year, maybe you become successful enough to keep him late, give him a huge 1 year deal. This way you don't owe anything but that initial payment. On the flip side, use your 5 year contracts on guys that are progressing and will ask for boatloads of money down the road. This way, it keeps them cheap for longer.

It's such a great game with a lot of potential!
It still has some flaws though.

                          Concerning the financial aspect.
The most important thing is to make it to the playoffs in the first 2 years into the game. Besides Merchandising (which is not that important in the first 2 years, because u dont have that much funds) reaching playoffs is inevitable to make enough money. If u fail to do so for a few years u are going bankrupt and cant sign any more players or staff.

If u take over a really bad team and try to tank right of the start, it might be a good idea to extend all contracts for few years so u are not in danger of running out of players.

It's a flawed finacial system, but i wrote the developer and he is aware of that (He is the only guy working on it so it is not sure if he will ever fix it though)

After making it to the playoffs u get richer and richer and funds are not important anymore.

The trade AI is not perfect but good enough. U can cheat by trading 1st round picks with the worst team in the league to get the overall number one pick or try to trade for franchise stars with 2 1st round picks but thats exploiting in my opinion. If u set yourself some houseroules and u are not doing that the game is more challenging.

I also dont resign my players my players and let them all test free agency, so it's more realitic and challenging as well.

I'm also missing some history details, like past winners, history stats of all players (u can only see them if the player is a free agent, dont know why only then) but all in all i love the game and it's totaly worth it's money, i would pay even more for it.

This is one of the greatest mobile games I've played in a while. For the price it is a steal because I'm still playing it and I've probably played 4 days on it and I'm not bored yet... Please buy and support the developer!
