Anthony Boone threw for over 350 yards along with 3 touchdown runs from Jela Duncan in a surprising upset over #8 Notre Dame in South Bend.

Duke quickly jumped out to a 14-3 lead late in the first quarter, the biggest deficit the Fighting Irish have faced all season. The eleven point lead would be short-lived however, as Malik Zaire found Davaris Daniels in the endzone right as the second quarter started.

"It's clear that we have a problem with score managment, especially on the road," said Coach William Fournier post-game.

Duke would respond later with a 3 yard rush by returning running back Jela Duncan to give Duke a 21-10 lead going into halftime.

The third quarter was an offensive show as each team exchanged three touchdowns each. Malik Zaire would be a factor in the second half, as he racked up over 80 yards on the ground in the third quarter alone.

The third quarter would end with Duke up 42-31, enough time for Notre Dame to come back. However, a good defensive showing by the Blue Devils stopped Notre Dame short and held them scoreless in the fourth.

Duke would cap the game off with another touchdown by Josh Snead and an interception, giving Malik Zaire four turnovers on the day.

"This game was a great confidence booster for us as a team, because without confidence there is no team," commented Fournier.

"With a big performance for [Anthony] Boone on the road, he should be quite confident in his ability to be a quarterback."

Notre Dame falls to 4-2 on the season as Duke moves to 5-0 and #16 in the AP polls.

Duke goes back home to Durham to take on Old Dominion, who isn't fairing too well with a 1-5 record. Anything short of a blowout would be a disappointment for Duke fans.
