Back in the day in older versions when I sucked at RTTS I would spend years in the minors just waiting for the call up that would never come or when I did make the show I wouldn't last very long and get sent back down. It was frustrating and I hated it but that has changed over the years I have enjoyed my time in the minors not only do I get extra development time the longer you stay but you are wearing those nice uniforms beating teams with those weird names and playing at those beautiful ballparks.

Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
How many of you enjoy spending time in the minors in RTTS? With those long stressful bus rides around the country to cities you never heard of, sitting next to one of your teammates who keeps making those dirty jokes and might never make the show. But you don't care rocking that nice Fisher Cats cap you just had a good week hitting, fielding, if there was a definition for beast mode it would be you. Not many people can say they get paid to be a ball player for a living but you can.

Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
Id be good with the option to start out at 65 rating overall and on the bench in the Majors instead, Forget ROAD TO, just give me The Show. Getting some pinch hitting and around one start every series or two and make the team strictly on my stats not "goals"
But that being said I understand a lot of people dig making it the old fashioned way... -
Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
I like the time in the minors as well. I remember playing a year on the PS2 when it took me over 2 full seasons before I made it to the show to stay.
I don't like the goals though, they are better than they used to be though. I wish the game was better at letting stats decide your fate as well. I wish there were goals for contract incentives though.

Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
I enjoy playing down in minors in RTTS. I have played so many RTTS games in various positions over the past years so I can now expect certain things to happen when I just do the things that I know is the most effective thing to advance, etc.
I think there are many ways in which the mode can still grow from the current state to make the experience more enriching. There was even a huge thread discussing RTTS recently.Comment

Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
I like being in the minors, I just wish it didn't always feel like you had to manipulate the goals to progress at the right pace. What I mean is, I always end up having to intentionally fail goals because I know if I don't I will get called up to the majors and not be ready ratings wise. My player will struggle in the majors, so then I have to intentionally fail goals to get sent back down so I can get more playing time and against appropriate competition. If the manager logic and promotion system worked better I wouldn't mind spending 2-3 years in the minors every year.Comment

Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
The minors for me is just a small step to the bigs and I want to spend as little time there as possible because I want to start my major league career against the best right away and not wait for years floundering in the minors against bad pitching, bad fielding and bad teams, but that's just me.When you come to a fork in the road, take it..... Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
I love that the minors are there and the way they are. It's baseball baby, its my own little bull Durham. I love to look for that old washout that's not done with the game yet who will give you the jaded wisdom, look at those I'm competing against for roster spots, and there are extremely few Harper's and Struassburg's in the world that fly through the system to the bigs. The Road to the Bigs is an important part of playing a pro in baseball.GM of the KC Royals in the OS Arbitration ThreadOriginally posted by theenginePlus, there are lots of illiterate Pro Bowlers. I hate whizzing thru AA and AAA only to make it to the show with terrible attributes. Its just really frustrating. I would much rather stay 4 or 5 seasons in the minors (since i start at age 18 or 19) and then get moved up to a major league team. And this allows for there to be more than 1 trade while you're just a prospect.
Also, upgrading attributes as slowly as possible saves up a ton of points for when you do get called up. Then you can improve in that 1 area thats giving you the most troubleI used to put important things hereComment

Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
I don't mind the minors necessarily, but the minors don't really have enough of a difference to me than the majors as far as the game mechanics go, so there after a while it gets stale and I want to hurry to the majors. I feel like there should be some very distinct game mechanics in the minors that would set it apart...or at least a VERY different presentation.
I don't mean that we need to learn a whole different camera view and button\stick when hitting\pitching\fielding, etc. What I mean is that we need maybe more clubhouse\traveling\training interactions, maybe more teammate and coaching stuff, something really.Comment

Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
I like to get called up once my rating is better than that of the mlb starter at my position. Ideally around the end of the first year so that I can start the second year as the mlb starter and still have ROY eligibility.Comment

Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
I like the process of creating my player and training them up through the minors, but I do wish its was easier to create more than one player. I like to try out different types of players, a CP maybe, how about a powerless leadoff hitter. But after my first time through or so I lose a lot of interest in spending countless hours at AA and AAA when I already know what type of player I want to make.
My solution has been to pick a position, CF or SS usually, turn the difficulty to rookie, sliders in my favor, turn fielding and baserunning off and just mash as fast as I can. Keep up with the advancement goals, but stocking up points. I make a base save after my first and second years. That way I have a fairly neutral player I can mold in any direction I want. I do the same with pitchers. Maybe I want to make a sinker baller who tops out at 89 or a submarine closer with a frisbee slider. I hope they address this in the future without the need to pay real money for training points. If I make an MVP caliber 1B, at least give me a head start of my next player. I just want to try out an MLB career as a speedy defensive SS this time.Last edited by MrOldboy; 02-06-2014, 10:56 PM.Comment

Re: Doing your time in RTTS The Minors
I started my RTTS late this year. I kinda avoided the mode because of the changes, but I just got called up first year in July. so I made it through AA in 280 AB. Killed the league and played in the all star game in AA, then was in AAA until the futures game which was less than 100 AB's and now am in the MLB. Ive been traded 3 times. Started in the Milwaukee system, then the KC system and now am a Baltimore Oriole and bringing them back from a 15 game deficit. Lost 3 games in the month of August so far. And Im playing on legend mode with most hitting sliders on default and fielder/CPU sliders adjusted to what Ive seen in the slider threads.
I like the minors. Depth is about all Id change for game play. Add some more interaction etc.Comment
