    80s Vs 90s Classic Roster

    ****V2 UPDATE****
Version 2.0 is up on the EA server now.
    - Added the 1982 Chargers and the 1986 Jets.
    - Fixed 1992 Oilers crashing Issue
    - Moved 1992 Oilers over to the Titans slot so you can use the Oilers proper throwback uniforms. (they look cool. I miss the Oilers.)
    - Added the 2011 Texans to fill the spot where the Oilers were.

    Hi everybody,

I wanted to share my roster with the community. This roster was created from Playmaker's 90s roster. Let me first say that a large portion of the teams created on here are from Playmaker's roster and I added some 80s teams and changed a couple of 90s teams. I in no way am trying to accept credit for Playmaker's hard work. His amazing roster just inspired me to add on to it, so thanks Playmaker. Also thanks to SunTzu for converting Playmaker's roster earlier this year. It really made Madden a better game for me personally. Also thanks to the guy(I don't know his name) who made the Madden Editor. It really save me a lot of time and is a well made program.

Here are the teams on the roster:

    NFC
    1985 Chicago Bears*
    1990 New York Giants
    1990 Philadelphia Eagles
    1991 Detroit Lions
    1991 Washington Redskins
    1991 Atlanta Falcons
    1992 Dallas Cowboys
    1989 San Francisco 49ers*
    1996 Green Bay Packers*
    1992 New Orleans Saints
    1997 Arizona Cardinals
    1998 Minnesota Vikings
    1999 St Louis Rams
    1999 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    1996 Carolina Panthers
    1987 Seattle Seahawks*

    AFC
    1990 Buffalo Bills
    1990 Los Angeles Raiders
    1990 Kansas City Chiefs
    1992 Miami Dolphins
    1982 San Diego Chargers*
    1996 New England Patriots
    1996 Pittsburgh Steelers
    1998 Denver Broncos
    1986 New York Jets*
    1992 Houston Oilers
    1999 Jacksonville Jaguars
    1999 Indianapolis Colts
    1988 Cincinnati Bengals*
    2011 Houston Texans*
    1986 Cleveland Browns*
    2000 Baltimore Ravens

    * Teams I changed

Here are some notes for the roster:

    - I have also added a bunch of lower tiered players from the 80 and 90s to fill out the free agency pool for connected franchise mode. I did not want the computer signing a bunch of current players, it would ruin the atmosphere. There are no current players on this roster. I deleted them all. This roster has been tested and optimized for connected franchise mode.

    - The one quirk I cannot fix is the name recognition. Because the roster is edited so much, the announcer will constantly get the name wrong. It is very annoying. Because of this, I play with commentary off. It is much better. The PA in the stadium will call out the player's number. I really don't miss the commentary. Madden has always had the worst. It's so repetitive. I also made a mix on my xbox with the music from NFL Films that I play during the game too. It's pretty sweet. If you want to do this, you will have to burn the music to your xbox and make a playlist.

    - I have found only one way to change the coaches on the game. During connected franchise. In this mode it is possible to put legendary coaches like Mike Ditke on the 85 Bears or Bill Walsh on the 49ers. You just have to take the time to make a coach for every team. It's a pain, but cool to have the right coaches. If anyone knows how to edit coaches for exhibition, please let me know.

    - the Texans are now the 1992 Houston Oilers. They still have the Texans uniforms though. I couldn't find a way to change them. They are still better to have than the Texans though.

    1) Could you make the 86, 87, or 89 Broncos

    2) Can you make the 1999 Raiders

    3) Can you make the 86 Giants

    4) a little confused. I understand PM only made the 92 Oilers and 96 Panthers... are these players on the 88 Bengals, 86 Browns, 2000 Ravens all Playmaker's Created players with his ratings attributes and player models... or someone elses???

    Thanks for the clarification!

I took playmaker's 92 49ers, 90 Bears & 90 Packers and changed them to the 89 49ers, 85 Bears & 96 Packers by removing anyone who wasn't on that team and then adding my own characters.

I created The Bengals, Seahawks & Brown from scratch. I tried to keep my rating consistant to Playmaker's because I really like the way his roster plays.

I might make the 86 Broncos & Giants on a future update. Not much of a chance for the 99 raiders though. If anything I would make the 83 Raiders possibly.

      Thanks.

DEL!!! This roster is...mmmmmm...perfect. This may have saved this game for me. I love Playmakers work, but this is taking it to another level. Love it. Thank you much.

I agree about adding the 81 Chargers, 83 Raiders, and 86 Jets. I'd add the 84 Cardinals and 84 Dolphins too, but that's just me....

Can't figure out why the 97 Cardinals are there in the 1st place. They were 4-12 in 1997. The 1998 team was in the playoffs but the 1984 version with Lomax, OJ Anderson, and Roy Green was better IMO.

Del....great work!!!!!!!!!!!! But you changed the ratings??? They are not the same as playmakers - and you said you liked how the game played with him. Why didn't you keep them the same? He had Jerry Rice at a 85-86 speed...but a 98 in Acceleration. Whch realistically depicts his skill set. Just wondering why you changed them sir.

I belive that is a typo sir.The Playmakers rosters include the 98 Cardinals not 97 version. His file is based on the 1990's decade only which is why there are no teams from the 80's on his original file.

Interesting. My Playmakers roster has Rice with a 79 speed, 96 acceleration. Did he not say in original post that he went with a different niners team, which would may be a reason his ratings changed a bit?

Be cool if you'd put the players from the 92 oilers in free agency. That way we could sign them to the titans and have the right uniforms. Not sure what texans team you'd have to put in thought.

Exaxtly...I just didn't have the number correct. But you made my point. His speed should be low end...but all other attributes relating to explosiveness should be very high. Because Rice SHOULD BE the same guy. Jerry Rice did not change from 85 thru 95...he was COLD blooded and dominated the league!!! He was never a burner...and Rice's ratings are not the only ratings that were changed. I guess he just wanted to change the ratings to his taste??? He said he used Playmakers rosters...but made a few changes. Which led me to believe he kept as much as he could the same - other than the few teams he added. I will make the time to do it myself...I jut wanted to know why he did it. I thought we all agreed that Playmakers work was VERY VERY detailed and realistic.

I did change a few ratings on some of the teams, but the majority are the same. This was just my take on it. I remember younger Rice being faster and getting good yards after the catch. I'm not saying that my ratings are the definitive authority, it's just what works for me. Overall, most of Playmaker's ratings are there. Feel free to change as you would like though. It's a pretty easy fix.
