Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Arrives For 360 & PS3 on April 15th, No Plans For Next
In the end this all comes down to sales, and most likely in the past they've found that the majority of their World Cup games were sold in the host country( I do not have numbers to back that up), and with NG all but nonexistent in Brazil.........
For me, I'm disappointed, and I absolutely will not buy it even though I do still have a 360. Going backwards is not something I'm at all interested in, because no matter how much they improve it, it still will not be on the level of FIFA 14 NG. I guess time will tell if it was a good decision for them, it sure wasn't for us.Comment

This is massively disappointing since I bought a PS4 at day 1 and was looking forward to this. Good thing I still have my PS3, but paying $60 for a game on a system I haven't played in months seems like a big step backwards.Comment

I hope EA realize that alot of people traded in their current gen consoles when going to next gen. I still have mine and still won't be buying it. There excuse is a poor one and doesn't make much sense. They released Fifa 14 on next gen even though current gen has a larger audience. Most people want to go forward not backwards. My thought is they'll say it's only current gen then after the sales dry up then they'll put it on next gen. It's like GTA V, Last Of Us, Gran turismo 6 as they are rumored to be coming to next gen possibly."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

"We are making the best game we can for our largest audience, which is still on 360 & PS3." That is their stock answer to anyone on Twitter now. Let's see if that logic holds up...
FIFA 14 - PS3/360 Version released so of course they wouldn't make one for next gen because the sales base isn't big enough (PS4/XB1 version released too)
Madden 25 - (see FIFA 14)
NBA Live 14 - They've clearly stated that they are more focused on the systems that have more users so they wouldn't possibly make a next gen version and ignore their PS3/360 customers (It's next gen only)
EA Sports UFC - (see NBA Live 14)
PGA Tour - Not much is known so far but they have only mentioned next gen in the one release they did put out so until then... (see NBA Live 14 & EA Sports UFC)Last edited by Panicshade; 02-06-2014, 12:59 PM.PSN: PanicshadeLWK

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Arrives For 360 & PS3 on April 15th, No Plans For Next
EA said this less than 6 months ago;
During yesterday's investor call to discuss EA's second quarter of fiscal 2014 financial results, CEO Andrew Wilson noted that the publisher is working on a new FIFA World Cup expansion game. Additionally, CFO Blake Jorgensen brought up FIFA World Cup again when asked about next-gen games in development, indicating that the game will appear on Xbox One and PS4. It is unknown if the game will also be developed for current generation systems.
"In the last two weeks, you've also seen several announcements about our product slate for the remainder of this year and into FY15," Wilson said. "We are refining our focus on our biggest brands and great new IP in development, including The Sims 4, EA Sports UFC, FIFA World Cup and Dragon Age: Inquisition."resident curmudgeonComment

First off, as an Xbox One owner I am extremely disappointed that this is only available for 360. FIFA World Cup 10 was easily my favorite FIFA for 360. I wanted so bad to be able to see a newer version with next-gen graphics and physics, and something that would offer a slight improvement to current problems on next-gen FIFA and be preview for what is to come in FIFA 15.
That being said, I can understand why they made the decision they did. 10 million next-gen users vs. 160 million current-gen? It makes a lot of sense to spend their time catering to the 160 million and making sure they have a great experience, and unfortunately that means the 10 million of us who have moved on get screwed. They charge $60 for both versions so why waste resources on the next-gen? They won't make any more money per person. And I'm sure of those 10 million on next-gen, a large amount still have curren-gen systems, so they would still be potential buyers. I still have my 360, so I can always go back and play NCAA 14 if I get the urge, but I'm still not sure I'd want to play FIFA again on current-gen after already moving on to Xbox One, unless it was a lot cheaper than the full $60.
The good news is that I've read they will be adding additional World Cup content to next-gen FIFA 14, so I'm curious to see what those additions would be?Comment

It will be content in Ultimate Team mode only. So more than likely just special packs of cards and some tournaments. None of the improvements to the game or presentation (any updated kits, all of the World Cup stadiums, etc) will be in FIFA 14 NG. So unless you play a lot of FUT on next gen you get nothing out of this.PSN: PanicshadeLWK

Most likely it will be national teams in a FUT tourney where your restriction is you must have a full squad with 1 nationality only.
So potentially you could have the thrill of playing against CPU Spain with a Human controlled spanish squad wearing the Real Madrid away kit at Old Trafford using the brazuca if you have unlocked it.
Or in other words...an exact replica of the World Cup!resident curmudgeonComment

Oh wow, that's extremely underwhelming then. But pretty much spot on with what I'd expect from EA.It will be content in Ultimate Team mode only. Does anyone else have a problem with the feature list? I find they always reuse features that already exist. For example, the set piece tactics. Those have been in FIFA since 11 or 12, can't remember which. Players have been jumping over one another to win headers already as well. Like when I am on defense and EA, by default, has Marcelo marking Benteke or a similar player on a corner, and because I can't change who marks who, Benteke just climbs over Marcelo's back and powers in a header. I could see maybe the add a new animation to this, but it can't be brand new? And ball physics, which they just added to FIFA 14 (apparently). Looks cool 10% of the time when I take a long shot and it swerves, but the other 90% of the time the ball doesn't have any spin on it until it hits the ground, post, another player, or the keeper. Is that going to be fixed now?Comment

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Arrives For 360 & PS3 on April 15th, No Plans For Next
Lots of people here bought NG systems (most of them bought XONEs or imported PS4s), and a lot of people on a BR forum where i often post are disappointed as well. I still think they decided to release it only for the old gen consoles cause the installed base is much bigger on the old gen consoles, and when i think about the shortage of NG systems on the stores, this move looks like a smart one (commercially), as they will just make the game as if it was a FIFA 14 patch on the old gen.In the end this all comes down to sales, and most likely in the past they've found that the majority of their World Cup games were sold in the host country( I do not have numbers to back that up), and with NG all but nonexistent in Brazil.........

Well, i feel bad for those who bought a NG system, cause a lot of people would buy the game for their brand new consoles.Last edited by razorkaos; 02-06-2014, 02:11 PM.PSN ID/Street Fighter V Fighter ID: razorkaosComment

I feel like after the launch of 360/PS3, I would wait a year until buying new consoles in the future and this is one reason why. As a sports gamer, I still don't see any reason to go to PS4/XB1.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

I am in the same boat. Secretly I am kind of happy that the old gen is still getting some attention. But lets keep that between us.
