That is a good catch. I am an offline gamer who has been feeling the online push beginning to squeeze me out of the market. If true, this could be that final push. No sense in buying a world cup game if I can't actually play through the whole tournament.

As much as I love the World Cup, I always feel that the special edition of the video game is lacking. It's basically just a port with some event-specific features that they will charge $60 for. I wont pick it up until after the actual World Cup and that's if I am not fully immersed in my xbox one.PSN: pastor_glidds

Same here. And to be honest, i'm not thinking about next gen consoles anymore. I'll probably buy a PC. I'm disappointed with the specs of these two consoles, and i'm not really into paying 70%+ than the price of the same game on PC.PSN ID/Street Fighter V Fighter ID: razorkaosComment

I'm a little disappointed there won't be a next gen version, but I absolutely love Fifa on the PS4 and would really have a hard time going back to my old consoles.
For you sports gamers still on the fence: Fifa and NBA 2K are gorgeous on next-gen. I've been playing Fifa for months and I'm still in love with the visual quality of stuff like replays and stadium crowds.Comment

IMO the PS4 is a very good console for the price, but it doesn't have any real advantages over a capable gaming PC. I'm sure it will have some great exclusives in the future, but as of right now it's more like an alternative for a gaming PC because it gets a lot of the good indie and F2P games that were formerly only on PC.Comment

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Arrives For 360 & PS3 on April 15th, No Plans For Next
Back in 2006 EA released a World Cup game on the Xbox 360 a few months after its launch so it isn't like they haven't done it before; maybe it wasn't worth the investment in money and resources which would affect FIFA 15's production, not saying it's like that but that's just my guess.
Problem is that (only talking about sport games) EA doesn't seem interested in the near future to give the same FIFA from next-gen consoles to PCs so if's going to be like that PC gamers would get outdated games; one of the reasons ,besides the lack of other sports games, that I'm going to get a PS4 instead of a gaming PC.Comment

Things like this are why I always wait at least a year or two before upgrading to next gen. To me, it just never seems worth the cost at the introductory price point.Comment

FIFA 2010 World Cup was one of the best sports games of this generation. It's incredible that it's not being launched on the new systems. It sure seems like it's going to be a long time before the new systems are going to be worth buying for sports gamers.
I don't there was a PC version of FIFA World Cup, either, so I'm not worried about cancellations of PC FIFAs in the future.
I'm also not worried that the World Cup finals will only available via online play. I think some people are reading too much into that.Comment

Really disappointed this is not going to be Next Gen. I'm a very casual soccer fan but the World Cup game is the one I will always buy. Guess not this year.

Highly depressing that we won't get a World Cup game on next gen. World Cup 2006 was released on the 360 despite the fact the console had only been out a few months and I played that game like crazy and was the game that turned around the series after the disasters that were released.
Hell they could have done a DLC pack on FIFA 14 like they did for Euro 2012 and charged me 20 bucks and I would have been happy.Comment

"2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil will feature the usual array of nation-specific fans sporting banners, flags, and seat cards in the stadiums. However a new addition sees the broadcast highlight fans watching the game back home. For instance, if England score the game will cut to fans celebrating in Trafalgar Square, while German fans will scream and shout outside Berlin's Brandenburg Gate."
That could be pretty cool.Comment
