    Peculiar decision.

They release NBA Live, and yet can't branch out from their FIFA series to bring the world's most popular sporting event to the latest consoles?

They must be getting really poor returns from their PS4 and XBOne games.

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Arrives For 360 & PS3 on April 15th, No Plans For Next

This is really disappointing news. I couldn't wait for FIFA Brazil so I could get away from FIFA 14 for a bit. I've been dying to play road to the World Cup but it doesn't look like that will happen. I always loved going through all of the qualifying stages. It just sucks because IMO FIFA is the best Next Gen sports game. The improvements weren't drastic but there is still a fairly decent difference compared to 360 and PS3 to warrant the upgrade.

I really find it weird they wouldn't put it out for next gen. If you look at it by the time the game releases more and more people will have next gen consoles which means many people will probably have traded their current gen consoles in. By default yes more people will have current gen consoles but I still think there will be enough next gen owners to produce a game.

Another thing is the World Cup is just a fad anyway. It's a time where the casual or even non soccer fans will watch the sport because it's an exciting event. After it the people who watched the event probably won't be watching any more soccer until at least the Euro Cup if even that. As has been posted on here, many people only buy the FIFA World Cup versions of the game because they don't enjoy soccer enough to buy the regular FIFA game. This will be a lot of people who won't buy the World Cup game if they only have a PS4 or One. I don't understand EA's logic behind this but then again EA has their marketing business team for a reason. I still have a 360 but I cannot even fathom playing the 360 version when I have a PS4 and can play a better game with FIFA 14. Maybe my mind will change though. Worst of all is the next gen FIFA doesn't have tournament mode in it so you can't even create a fake World Cup.

A bit of a strange decision not to put this on next - gen but I suppose it makes sense.

FIFA 14 on PS4 looks good and plays better than the current-gen versions, however even though it is an attractive game graphics-wise I think they are really going to go for it in that area with 15.

So making a next - gen World Cup game would (probably) take time away from 15, which will be their first 'proper' next - gen effort.

A lot of people will buy PS4 or X1 for the next sports gaming season, so I reckon they are really going for it on their regular game.

I hope that at least they give something to the next-gen FIFA 14 that isn't related with UT, maybe all the licences kits that are going to be on the World Cup game and updated national teams which isn't that far-fetched. I wish (although I'm like 110% sure they won't) that they add the 12 Brazilian World Cup stadiums and some more national teams to FIFA 15 but there must be some issue about it because they haven't done it before.

Seriously you're going to enter that territory? Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I was talking about the US. It's already known that most people don't follow soccer, although the sport is becoming way more popular which is great because it's an amazing sport. I'm merely saying that for the United States the World Cup comes and people get excited about the sport and watch. Then after the World Cup is over it's back to where it was before where Soccer isn't followed by as many people who were watching the World Cup.

It takes a huge event like the World Cup to get many American's excited about the sport. That's all I'm saying. I'm not talking about other countries because obviously it's the biggest thing there is. The Olympics are fairly similar. How many people watch Swimming, track and field, skiing, bobsled, etc outside of the Olympics? Not many. The Olympics comes and people get excited over it and then once it's over it's back to the majority of people not watching those sports until the next Olympics. It's as much about pride in our nation then it is about the sport, and that includes even the most popular sports.

The issue is that the game was listed as coming out for next gen last fall - you know, around the time consumers were deciding whether or not to take the plunge. It's not like we just assumed there would be a next gen version

I'd be perfectly fine with a next-gen version of the game that is nothing more than a graphically enhanced port of the current-gen version.

                      Your move, EA.

What a huge slap in the face to the next-gen FIFA fanbase.

I don't there was a PC version of FIFA World Cup, either, so I'm not worried about cancellations of PC FIFAs in the future.

I'm also not worried that the World Cup finals will only available via online play. I think some people are reading too much into that.

Since they already have FIFA 14 on X1/PS4, how much more work would they really have to do to make the World Cup game a reality on next-gen?. They have all of the countries kits, flags, fans, tourney structure, etc. ready to go for the 360/PS3, really how much time would it take to put that into the a next gen version? It's not like they are creating the engine for next gen, they already have it. It's not like the World Cup snuck up on them, they were talking about having a next gen World Cup game last year. I'm sure I'm missing something, but it just seems like this is a dumb decision.

Being a person that does not follow the MLS or Premiere League very closely at aall, but does get very interested in the World Cup, I hate that this game is not on next gen. I did purchase FIFA 14 for PS4 (only because of the amazon buy 1, get 1 deal), but I've never bought another soccer game other than World Cups. I like playing with the USA and I love going through the qualifying stages. It just seems stupid that EA had planned to put this out on next gen and now they are not and their reasons arent very good IMO.

90-95% of their WC game sales would have come from PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers anyway, so what's not to understand? It's about getting the biggest return, and with the least amount of time and money invested.

Why did EA make a Madden and FIFA for next gen?
