    SoundTheAlarm's Future of the WWE

Ok everyone, I have finally gotten my "Look Back" at the WWE From 2014/2015/2016/early 2017 done, and here it is. I know that it's long, but there was a lot that can happen in 3 1/2 years! I put a lot of effort into making up this "history", so I sincerely hope you all can enjoy this read.

And now for the official kickoff of my Future of the WWE Universe... I present a History of the WWE, 2014-2017.

    • Daniel Bryan has become the new Face of the Company, winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 30, defeating Randy Orton and Batista in a Triple Threat Match. He lost the title back to Batista a few months later at Money in the Bank, but quickly regained it at SummerSlam in a No Holds Barred Match. He has remained at the top of the company for the last few years, holding the title on three other occasions.

    • John Cena remained a top star throughout 2014 and 2015. He lost to Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 32 in an amazing main event, ending what was his final WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign. After that, he slowly drifted into a “Chris Jericho” type role, putting over new main eventers such as Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, and Dean Ambrose. John Cena retired from the full-time roster in December 2016, though he hasn’t ruled out an occasional return.

    • Randy Orton followed a similar path as that of John Cena. He toiled in various feuds throughout 2014 and 2015, including a lengthy feud with Antonio Cesaro, which culminated with a Cesaro victory inside the cell at Hell in a Cell 2015. Orton’s final WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign came in the summer of 2015 until losing to Antonio Cesaro at Summerslam. In 2016, Orton also shifted into a role where he began to put over new main event faces such as Roman Reigns and Big E Langston. Randy Orton announced that he would retire if he did not win the 2017 Royal Rumble. In the match, he was able to make it to the final four participants before he was eliminated. Orton retired the following night on Raw, garnering a loud ovation from the fans despite being a heel for the better part of the last three years.

    • The Undertaker remained unbeaten at The Showcase of the Immortals, defeating Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 30. Immediately after his match, a surprise return by Sting led to a year-long build up and a shockingly great match at Wrestlemania 31. In the end, however, Undertaker was able to prevail. In 2016, Sheamus begged for a shot at Taker, saying that it was his dream match to face him at ‘Mania. Undertaker granted him his wish and defeated him at Wrestlemania 32. After the match, Sheamus shook the hand of the Undertaker and then retired, saying that he had finally scratched the final thing off of his bucket list. In early 2017, Undertaker had returned to the WWE at the ripe age of 52 saying that he had one final match in him to attempt to go 25-0. His brother Kane, who was still plugging away at 50 years old himself, answered the call and asked Undertaker to wrestle him one final time at Wrestlemania, where they could both retire together following the match no matter the result. Undertaker accepted, and the final curtain call for both legendary wrestlers is scheduled for Wrestlemania 33.

    • The Shield broke up a few months after Wrestlemania 30, and all three have gone on to have successful solo careers. Roman Reigns has already held the WWE World Heavyweight Title once, and looks to be a lock for the main event for years to come. The same can be said about Dean Ambrose, who has a chance to become Champion for the first time when he faces Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 33. While Seth Rollins hasn’t quite found the same success as the other two, he is still solidly in the upper midcard of the WWE.

    • After trying for what seemed like years, the WWE was finally able to sign NJPW star Prince Devitt to a contract in the summer of 2015, and he has not disappointed. He is known for his consistently outstanding matches and high energy in the ring. Upon arrival, he called out Daniel Bryan, saying that the “best wrestler in WWE” had nothing on him, the “best wrestler in the world”. That set off an epic four-month feud in which the two put together a string of Match of the Year caliber matches. Devitt is solidly in the main event scene, although he is yet to win the big one to get WWE gold.

    • Another big plus for the WWE has been the meteoric rise of Magnus. He was signed by the WWE after his contract with TNA expired in late 2014, and he has blossomed into a huge star. He won the PWI Most Improved Wrestler award in 2013 and 2014, and continues to get better. At just 30 years old heading into Wrestlemania 33, it seems that he will be neck and neck with Daniel Bryan to be the face of the company.

    • Other top faces in the WWE heading into Wrestlemania 33 include Antonio Cesaro, Big E Langston, Dolph Ziggler, Roman Reigns, and Sami Zayn.

    • Other current top heels in the company include Bray Wyatt, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Ryback, and Wade Barrett.

    • Titus O’Neil found success very quickly after breaking away from the Primetime Players, eventually winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series in November 2015. However, his career came to an abrupt end when he sustained a career-ending injury at the TLC PPV in December 2015 when he was defending against Damien Sandow.

    • 3MB broke up in 2015, and they have seen mixed results. Drew McIntyre returned to his roots and has become a great heel, making his way up the ladder and back into the upper midcard. He has held both the Intercontinental Title and U.S. Title in recent years. Jinder Mahal turned his back on rock n’ roll, taking on a more serious gimmick. After getting off to a rough start as a singles wrestler again, the 30 year old hopes to build momentum going into 2017 and beyond. Unfortunately for Heath Slater, he just can’t seem to let go of his desire to be a rock star, and still finds himself on the losing end of nearly every match.

    • Erick Rowan broke away from the Wyatt Family, turning face in early 2016. He has since toiled around in the lower midcard without the guidance of Bray Wyatt. Luke Harper, meanwhile, is still a follower of Bray and has made some noise in the midcard singles scene.

    • Wrestlers who have made their way from NXT in recent years have also found homes on the main roster. Sami Zayn is beginning to creep into the main event scene after holding the Intercontinental Title for over a year before dropping it to Alexander Rusev, another outstanding former NXTer. Adrian Neville is one of the most exciting wrestlers to watch on a weekly basis, as is Tyler Breeze. Other former NXT talents rising up in WWE include Colin Cassady, Corey Graves, Bo Dallas, Mason Ryan, Leo Kruger, and Mojo Rawley.

    • The lower midcard is a mixture of newly-brought-up NXT talent and aging talent from a few years back. Xavier Woods, Enzo Amore, and Baron Corbin have all made their way to the lower midcard of the WWE, where long-time WWE talents Fandango, Curtis Axel, Sin Cara, and Camacho still find themselves. Joining them are two talents who returned from long layoffs (Alex Riley and Evan Bourne) as well as WWE newcomer and former indy standout Michael Elgin.

    • Former NXT wrestlers CJ Parker and Oliver Grey now serve as curtain jerkers on the main roster.

    • Zack Ryder is still a jobber, too. No surprise. Woo woo woo.

    • The Usos dominated the tag team division early on, holding the titles from Wrestlemania 30 in April 2014 until Summerslam 2015, where they lost to former NXT Tag Team Champions, The Ascension. The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) have recently come into the WWE and are looking like a very dangerous team. After a long wait, the Briscoe Brothers also came to the WWE in early 2016. Despite winning the titles in only their third match and holding them for 7 months, they have been very vocal about the management of WWE. Add this to their consistently bad attitudes backstage, and it may end up being a short stay in the WWE for this talented team.

    • The Divas division has seen some changes over the past few years as well. Layla, Aksana, and Natalya have retired, with Natalya becoming a trainer at NXT. Nikki Bella was also forced into retirement after suffering a series of knee injuries. Her sister Brie still continues to compete, and Nikki is often in here corner supporting her. Cameron also left the WWE to pursue other opportunities. The new faces at the top of the division to challenge AJ Lee include NXT call-ups Paige, Emma, and Bayley as well as Summer Rae, Naomi, and a vastly improved Eva Marie. Additions to the division include indy standouts Allysin Kay, Jessie McKay, and Mia Yim. Alicia Fox is also still a steady hand in the division.

    • NXT has an almost entirely new cast of stars. Former main roster performers Tyson Kidd and Yoshi Tatsu have taken on the role left behind by William Regal, where they not only compete in NXT but also serve as trainers. Adam Cole has been very impressive since his debut in mid-2016. The former ROH World Champion has been embroiled in a fantastic NXT Championship feud with fellow indy notable Johnny Gargano for the past several months. One of the final wrestlers left from the “old days” of NXT that has yet to be called up is Aiden English. However, he is making the most of his new-found top spot in NXT, improving every day. It seems like his main roster call up isn’t too far off. Filling out the NXT roster is a list of newcomers to WWE, all of whom will be detailed at a later date (Credit to Oz70NYC, KingDW, jamesjr317, aboltstar, SirByedato, and MoKEWoN for the original CAWs to put into my NXT roster).

So that is the condensed (if you can call 1,698 words condensed) history of the WWE over the last few years, which brings us to Wrestlemania 33. Hope to have that card up sometime before the end of the week.

Geez, I wish I would put this much effort into my schoolwork.

Yes, I will be doing some changes of my own, with a starting base of CM Hooe's Attributes. They won't play a large part in my Universe, though, because I will play all of the matches myself thus I can dictate who wins.

Thank you very much for following. I'm glad you like it. Don't expect such lengthy write-ups for every show though... I'd never progress fast enough!

I don't think I will have the WrestleMania 33 write-up finished until possibly late Wednesday or late Thursday, but hopefully I can at least get a Card Preview up after my real life job and schoolwork is done later on tonight.

On a side note, does anybody know where I can get a custom banner created? I know there were a few guys who used to take requests here, but it seems that they no longer do them.

WrestleMania 33 kicked things off with a "NXT Spotlight" match featuring two of the brightest young stars in the business battling over the NXT Title. The two youngsters were tight at first in front of the 70,000 plus people. Once they settled in though, it was a dandy of an opening match. Gargano took control early, keeping Cole off balance with his lightening quick moves. Cole flurried back, and was able to finish off Gargano with the Panama Sunrise, ending a great opening match.

Winner: Adam Cole retained the NXT Championship with the Panana Sunrise at 6:44

Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper vs. Dolph Ziggler & Mojo Rawley
                          vs.

This match was the converging of two feuds that have been brewing since TLC last December, where Dolph's chance at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was ruined by Bray and his lone follower, Luke Harper. This match was exactly what everyone expected. Hard hits were exchanged on both sides, with Ziggler using his elite athleticism to counter the power of the Wyatt Family. Harper drilled Ziggler with a Big Boot and sent him careening into the barricade, while Bray Wyatt was able to hit Rawley with the Sister Abigail to pick up the victory for his team.

Winners: Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper with a Sister Abigail on Mojo Rawley at 10:12

With Mojo Rawley dispatched, Wyatt ordered Harper to drag Ziggler back into the ring. Bray Wyatt took hold of Ziggler, kissed him on the forehead, and delivered a powerful Sister Abigail that left Dolph laying in a heap in the middle of the floor. Wyatt grabbed a microphone.

Wyatt: "Why haven't you seen it yet, Ziggler? The light's there, man... You just have to see it! Let me guide you to the light, my fallen sheep..."

Bray and Harper left the ring and walked back up the stage.

                          Leo Kruger(c) vs. Mason Ryan
                          vs.

This match was a result of Ryan winning the qualifying Fatal 4-Way match nearly a month ago on Raw. Ryan went after Kruger right from the opening bell, pummeling the United States Champion with punches to the head. Ryan dominated the match, tossing Kruger all over the ring and ringside. Kruger attempted to make a comeback after reversing a Mason Ryan suplex, but was drilled with a huge clothesline that sent him over the top rope to the outside. Ryan whipped Kruger's head into the ring post, dropping him to his knees. Ryan then delivered a Big Boot to Kruger, crushing his head between himself and the ring post. Ryan slipped back into the ring, and the bloodied Kruger was unable to make the 10-count, giving the countout victory to Mason Ryan.

Winner: Mason Ryan by countout at 9:31 (Leo Kruger retains the WWE United States Championship)

After the bell sounded, Ryan went to ringside and called for his belt. However the referee told him that the challenger cannot win the title via countout, and awarded the belt to Leo Kruger. Ryan flew off the handle and pushed the referee aside before grabbing the ring bell. He viciously attacked Kruger with the ring bell, hitting him several times before tossing it aside. He reached down and picked up Kruger by his head and screamed to his that this wasn't over.

                          30-Minute Iron Man Match
                          Sami Zayn vs. Cody Rhodes
                          vs.

These two men have been battling back and forth in a series of athletic events to prove who is the best pure athlete in sports entertainment today. It culminated in this 30-minute Iron Man match. Both competitors got off to a quick start, but it was Cody Rhodes who would strike first, whipping Zayn into the turnbuckle before rolling him up, grabbing a handful of tights to get the first fall of the contest.

Cody Rhodes leads 1-0 at 2:38

Zayn popped back up frustrated and screamed at the referee to watch the tights. He re-focused however, and soon took the offensive. Zayn was able to get a fall back after a Hurricanrana off the top-rope left Rhodes stunned.

Sami Zayn ties it 1-1 at 14:13

Zayn continued to control the contest after the fall, and nearly picked up another one after a tornado DDT, but Rhodes barely got the shoulder up. Zayn went to the top rope for an elbow drop, but Rhodes was able to move out of the way. He would rise to his feet first, and was sizing up Zayn for the Cross Rhodes. Sami was able to calculate it, and reversed it into an offensive maneuver of his own. The two went back and forth for the rest of the match, splitting numerous near-falls. In the final minute, Rhodes was able to hit Zayn with the Disaster Kick but was unable to get the 3-count. He slowly made his was towards the top rope, looking for his signatue moonsault. However, Zayn was able to run up and grab Cody. They battled on the top turnbuckle for a bit, until Zayn was able to get the leverage to send Rhodes crashing to the canvas with a back-to-belly suplex. Zayn was miraculously able to continue the suplex into a quick Victory Roll, and kept the stunned and surprised Rhodes down for a decisive fall with just seconds left on the clock.

Winner: Sami Zayn 2 falls to 1 at 30:00

                          Triple Threat Match
Alexander Rusev(c) vs. Adrian Neville vs. Drew McIntyre
                          vs. vs.

Rusev has been the Intercontinental Champion since Summerslam in August 2016, and he has absolutely destroyed everything in his path ever since. Though this was billed as a Triple Threat Match, it was very apparent early on that McIntyre and Neville had the same idea, and that was to work together to wear down Rusev and then worry about each other later. However, there was a turning point when McIntyre was holding Rusev while Neville was attempting a front-flip from the top rope. Rusev moved, and Neville drilled McIntyre instead. Rusev took advantage, blasting Neville with a Spinning Heel Kick. He then grabbed both men, drug them to the center of the ring, and was able to lock in The Accolade (camel clutch) on both competitors at the same time. McIntyre was the first to tap, and Rusev chalked up another title defense.

Winner: Alexander Rusev with The Accolade at 9:31

The Usos appeared on the stage, ready to make their way down to the ring, looking to regain the WWE Tag Team Titles. Before they could...

The Ascension (Rick Viktor and Connor O'Brian) attacked The Usos. After a series of hard punches to the brothers, Viktor sent Jimmy flying off the stage and crashing into some video equipment below, while Connor picked up Jey and powerbombed him into the entrance screen. Satisfied, The Ascension walked back behind the curtain to a chorus of boos, leaving the medical staff to tend to the fallen Usos.

                          No Disqualification Match
                          Magnus vs. Ryback
                          vs.

These two big guys would put on a hard-hitting matchup under normal circumstances, but the fact that it was No DQ made it even more dangerous. Magnus was hurt early after an attack on his knee with a steel chair, but turned the fight around after a drop toe hold sent Ryback head first into the steel steps. Later, Ryback battled back again and looked to lift Magnus up for the Shellshocked. Magnus was able to slip out the backside of it, and instead got Ryback up for the Mag Daddy Driver, which put Ryback out for the 3.

Winner: Magnus with the Mag Daddy Driver at 10:45

                          Daniel Bryan(c) vs. Dean Ambrose
                          vs.

2017 Royal Rumble winner Dean Ambrose looked to capture his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and came into this match focused. Daniel Bryan, long-reigning WWE veteran, was also his usual focused self. As a result, Ambrose and Bryan put on a wrestling clinic that many are saying is a shoe-in for Match of the Year. Bryan started things off, but Ambrose soon returned the favor and got Bryan reeling. The two men showcased a wide array of moves, and the crowd burst into numerous "This is Awesome" chants. Ambrose seemed like he the title in his grasp after dropping Bryan with his spike DDT, but Bryan was able to kick out. Bryan soon started to feed off the energy of the crowd, ducked under a Ambrose clothesline, and caught him with a clothesline of his own. A series of "YES" kicks sent Ambrose into the corner. The crowd went wild as Bryan set up for the Running Knee. Ambrose slowly got to his feet, and turned around right into the vicious knee of Bryan. Bryan covered the former Shield member...1....2...3!

Winner: Daniel Bryan retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship with the Running Knee at 22:54

                          Fatal 4-Way Match
Summer Rae(c) vs. AJ Lee vs. Allysin Kay vs. Sasha Banks
                          vs. vs. vs.

The crowd was still buzzing after the WWE Championship Match when the four divas rolled out to decide who would walk out the champion. The pace was fast and furious, and it was difficult to keep track of all the divas. All four ladies had their time to shine in the match, but in the end it came down to Allysin Kay and Summer Rae after Sasha Banks and AJ Lee had battled to the outside, seemingly unaware of the other two girls in the ring. After a bit of a back and forth, Summer Rae was able to drop Allysin Kay and quickly grab the win.

Winner: Summer Rae retained the WWE Divas Championship with the Spinning Heel Kick at 5:44

Before the main event, a video package was shown, showcasing the careers of The Undertaker and Kane. The 5-minute video showed the long journey from Survivor Series 1992 to Badd Blood 1997, WrestleMania XIV to WrestleMania XX, and everything in between. The video's lasting image was Undertaker and Kane hoisting the WWF Tag Team Championships as the Brothers of Destruction.

                          Retirement Match
                          Kane vs. Undertaker
                          vs.

From the moment where Kane's pyro blasted for the final time, and Undertaker's bells tolled for the final time, emotions were high inside the Bank of America Stadium. Despite most of Undertaker's WrestleMania matches, there was no feud involved with this one. This match was simply all about respect between the two brothers who had gone through their careers together in the WWE for the better part of the last 25 years. As the opening bell sounded, both men stood there as the crowd worked into a frenzy. Undertaker made the first move, hitting Kane with a Throat Thrust. After that, it was on. Kane and Undertaker battled just as they had for years before, but it certainly felt different this time. Knowing it was their final match, both competitors left it all in the ring and pulled out all the stops. The two giants traded throat thrusts in the middle of the ring, and the crowd was electric as they both took them like nothing and neither man would go down. Kane dropped Undertaker with a clothesline and signaled for the Chokeslam. 'Taker stumbled right into it, and Kane drove him into the mat. Before Kane could cover him, Undertaker sat straight up and caught the surprised Kane by the throat before delivering a Chokeslam of his own. The crowd erupted again as Kane did the exact same thing, sitting straight up.

Undertaker motioned for him to bring it, and the two monsters traded right hands once again. Kane ran after him, but Taker side-stepped it and threw Kane up and over the top rope. Undertaker bounced off the ring ropes and dove over the top rope, colliding with Kane and sending them both to the arena floor. The referee started the 10-count, and both men slid back into the ring just before being counted out. Kane got to his feet first, and he motioned to the crowd for the Tombstone Piledriver. Kane lifted up his brother and drove his head straight down into the mat and covered him up. 1...2...NO! Undertaker kicked out. Kane drug his brother up once again and hit him with another Tombstone. 1....2.... Undertaker kicks out again! Kane stands up and takes a couple paces around the ring, contemplating how to keep the immortal Undertaker down. Kane climbs up to the top rope to hit his brother with a Flying Clothesline, but Undertaker countered and caught his brother with a Big Boot. He then went Old School and dropped Kane with a forearm across the back.

Now, it was Taker's turn to signal for the Tombstone. He lifted up his brother and dropped The Big Red Machine head-first on the canvas. 1...2... NO! Just as his brother did, Kane kicked out of the Tombstone. The exhausted Undertaker picked up his brother again, and both men staggered in front of one another before exchanging throat thrusts one more time. Undertaker finally stunned Kane with a throat thrust, and picked up his brother once again. Undertaker dropped his brother head-first onto the mat again, delivering the ferocious Tombstone Piledriver one more time. Undertaker laid Kane's hands across his chest.

Winner: Undertaker with a Tombstone Piledriver at 28:31

After the match, Undertaker stood up and leaned against a turnbuckle, visibly exhausted from his match. Kane rose to his feet as well, also exhausted. Both men met in the middle of the ring, staring at one aother for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, Undertaker extended his hand. Kane shook it, and the two brothers embraced in the middle of the ring. The crowd erupted. The brothers looked up towards the stands, thanking the fans as they chanted "Thank You Taker...We love Kane! Thank you Taker...We love Kane!" A big 25-0 showed up on the big screen, and Kane congratulated his brother on keeping his Wrestlemania streak in tact. Undertaker's music hit, and the two men walked up the ramp together. They turned back, taking a look at the crowd for the final time, both with tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces.

**WHEW! That was a long post. Don't expect such detailed posts every time, but I figured that since it was Wrestlemania I would put a little more effort into it. Not to mention there were 10-matches to write up as well. I hope you all enjoyed the Undertaker/Kane thing at the end. As Kane(1) and Undertaker(2) have been my favorite wrestlers for my whole life, I knew that I wanted to be able to book at least one of their matches in my Universe, and this was it.

Thoughts/Comments/Criticisms are all appreciated! Let me know what you think!
