I had a really good start with a point at Blackpool then going on a 5 match win streak before a draw against Barnsley, this was a match I could of very easily lost and only managed to scrape a point. I am now looking ahead at a 3rd straight win against Sheffield Wednesday. I'm glad I have managed to be in the top 2 in the first 10 matches and still yet to lose a match. Djebbour is my star man bagging 9 goals in 9 starts and he is the leagues top scorer at the moment. I feel my current XI is my strongest despite having great players on the bench and even in the reserves, I think this depth can help my to reach a automatic promotion spot at the end of the season.

If anyone would like to give me suggestions I'm open, as this is my first post I'm sorry if I've made any mistakes. Thank you.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Going fairly well with Watford (though it is early days)!

I've done a Watford MM on every FIFA since 10, with varying degrees of success.

The best season I've ever had was 2014/15 (played on FIFA 13 last year), when I finished 5th in the Premiership in my second season after promotion.

I like Watford because they are by no means a rich club, which forces me to make good loan moves and really focus on my formation and playing style as opposed to simply overwhelming my opponents with talent.

In previous years, I played every minute of every competitive match with Watford in MM, but this year I'm changing it up a bit!

I turned OFF the First Summer Transfer Window, so I could really get a chance to feel out the Watford squad and decide who should stay and who should go in January.

I also invested nearly ALL of my transfer budget in the best scout my money could buy (5* judgment, 3* experience), and he's already turned up some gems in Italy on his first assignment.

After playing the first few matches of the 2013-14 campaign, I was surprisingly crusiing, so I've decided to sim a little bit and this is where I lie in the SkyBet Championship:

      9. Watford FC 4W/3D/2L (9pts) 13gf/13ga

The board expects us to fight for promotion, much like real-life Watford did last season.

Unfortunately, we're not a very deep squad as-is, and the "two games in four days" format early-on of the Championship is really hurting us.

I'll probably end up simming until January, then posting an update on how things have developed with this thin, but talented squad.

      Cheers!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

That was a painful few months to sim, as injuries depleted my squad and I watched my budget slashed by wages that are actually higher than I originally thought.

Unfortunately, it looks as though this 2013-14 season will be an utter and complete waste for Watford F.C.. Not enough funds to sign some prolific prospects from Brazil, not enough of a transfer budget to strengthen the paper-thin squad in the January window, and not enough talent to win promotion.

At the beginning of November, we'd actually climbed into the final Promotion Play-Off spot (6th), however we've gone 0-3-5 in league matches since, dropping right out of the promotion race.

        As of December 31st, 2013:

        13. Watford FC - 9W/7D/9L (34pts) / 38gf/34ga

This leaves us a full nine points behind Derby County, who currently occupy the sixth and final promotion spot with 43 points.

Injuries to key players at positions that lacked depth, like Dario Pudil at Left Back and Acuna up front, really hurt us.

We're basically winless in two months, out of all cup competitions, and don't have any funding to bring in some improvements.

9 points back from even THINKING about promotion as we enter the second half of the season. #PrayForWatford #MidTableConsistency

          Hey guys!

New to this, but not FIFA haha. Got Crawley Town all the way to the BPL and Champions League .. eventually winning both in the 2018/2019 season. It's been a great career mode for me but I now want a change!

Can anyone recommend a European team that has a lot of youngsters but not much in terms of budget? I'm wanting to become more of a journeyman this career and build up my career by doing well at a club before moving on to bigger and better things!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
          Cheers

LOL, from your first post I was feeling really good for you! Unfortunate how it turned for the worst. What a feeling to not be able to sign anyone!

Who is your top scorer so far? Assist? Would love to see the formation you are running. I personally love Watford as well, not sure why other than the fact I had my BAP/BAL play for them at one point in his career - and really enjoyed reading up about Vicarage Road and the traditions of the club.

Low league team (football league championship, league 1...)
Semi-good budget to buy new youngsters
              Not too high expectations
              Few/several/even 1! good youngster
              Nice kits (optional)

Thanks! I was thinking of Blackpool, is that any good?
IDK the teams exactly but every Bundesliga 2 team has pretty cool looking kits and most fit your needs.

Anyone want to recommend a team? I'm doing two manager mode games, one with my custom team, Atlantic FC United, and another with a real team. I want to play as a top team(preferably a CL contender), but I'm stuck between PSG, Bayern, Dortmund, Man U, Sporting KC, and AC Milan or Juventus. Any suggestions? Also, I prefer to play attacking style, are there some up tempo teams that I could do that with?

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Im not exteremly knowledgeable in soccer, but I'm using Milan (followed them when i was younger years ago) and Honda/Robinho/SAS/Balotelli are all high speed players that you probably could build an attack team with.

Plus they got two pretty fast LB/RB guys. Abate I think his name is.

I've switched them up slightly to a 4-1-3-2 so all four guys can attack with Montolivo and his passing/playmaking in the middle (Kaka is on the team too as an option).

OK so this kinda went into my own CM details. Lmao.

I have a question about contracts
when you renegotiate a contract my players seem to always ask for 1 year, does this mean it will extend there contract by a year or will it make it so there contract is now only a year

If you're up for a challenge, take a look at Real Betis in Spain. Their expectations are ridiculous considering how poor their squad is, but they do have some very solid players (Damien Perquis, Cedric, etc)

A bit new to FIFA, besides a few plays here and there recently, but bought the game and really want to get into it.

Don't really follow the Premier League that much, but I kinda want a challenging team to use to build up that's already in the PL, and not in the LC, or League 1 or 2.

Would a team like West Brom or Hull City be a good team to use?

Those 2 along with Crystal Palace, Cardiff, and Norwich would be the 5 best IMO so pick whichever you will and good luck!

Thanks for the reply mate, but ended up starting a career with Vitesse! They've got some good players, but 3 of the best are on loan from Chelsea and Sporting.

I disabled the first transfer window so am unable to make signings until Jan. There is a severe lack of striking options so I decided to pair Havenaar with Piazon up top. I recalled Marcus Pedersen from Barnsley as I only have 1 other recognised striker who is turd so he's my backup now.

Can anyone recommend any signings? I've got my eye on Classie from Feyenoord but need some defensive options and possibly another striker. Haven't got much of a budget as spent majority of it on a youth scout but think theres a £3mill still to play with.
