Re: EA DB Editor Export/Import Instructions
As far as I can see, there is a step that is not mentioned here, and that is that the editor asks for a xml file first before allowing that roster to be opened/displayed, and the Modio 3 extraction process dose not provide that file type.
Did you have to create the xml config yourself, and if so, how was that done exactly.
Would you please provide an addendum to this tutorial to cover that process.
Thank you. -

The Editor requires a configuration file as a template to host the roster file. You must create this configuration file as part of the editor setup process.
My instructions presume a knowledge of how to use the editor. There are detailed basic editor instructions in Xanathol's original Editor thread.Roll TideComment

Re: EA DB Editor Export/Import Instructions
There is no PGID in the editor that I am using. I am using the latest NCAA generic editor.
I'm have the roster open, I'm trying to export to excel.
Trying to combine two rosters.
Edit: Player ID I am assuming is the one?Last edited by herropreese; 06-13-2014, 09:52 PM.Comment

Re: EA DB Editor Export/Import Instructions
I have just opened a Roster file in the Updated Editor. I have selected the PLAY Tab. Counting from the first column on the far left (the column with no header and containing consecutive numbers starting with 1), the PGID column is the 29th column to the right.Roll TideComment

Re: EA DB Editor Export/Import Instructions
Yeah. It doesn't have that column. I don't have a PLAY tab. All I have is Players, Teams, Depth Charts, Coaches, Coach Skills, etc.
Am I using the wrong editor?Comment

Re: EA DB Editor Export/Import Instructions
Ya I'm having the same problem, I now have the updated editor, but the "rar" file is doing nothing for me. The editor doesn't recognize it because it's not an xml file (and I can't save it as one) and so I don't have the "PLAY" tab or the PGID thing that's supposedly the crucial step. :/Comment

Re: EA DB Editor Export/Import Instructions
What exactly is the export/import used for? I've never needed it before. I also wanted to know if this step could be used t convert ncaa 14 rosters to ncaa 13.Cup or Bust (NHL 13)

Re: EA DB Editor Export/Import Instructions
The Export/Import Feature of Xan's Generic Editor allows you to perform editing externally in a .csv file by using features available in Excel. You can Export all the data and layout of any of the tabs (such as COCH or PLAY) that are visible in the Editor. The exported file is in .csv format, which can be opened and edited in Excel. You can make edits to any or all data in any of the fields using Excel capabilities. When finished edting, you save the edited file in the .csv format, then use the Import feature to bring the data back into the file in the Editor.
It is certainly possible that this feature could be used to convert an NCAA14 Roster to NCAA13. To explore this possibility, I suggest reading the instructions for converting from NCAA13 to NCAA14, then determine whether or not NCAA14 data will fit into an NCAA13 format. The key to success would be not to disturb the NCAA13 file format when over-writing with data from NCAA14.
Regarding the Export/Import Editing Feature, I use it to make extensive changes to the NCAA14 Roster PLAY tab. I have developed methods involving the use of a separate working copy of an exported file in which to make the actual edits, using formulas I have developed. Then, I use the Copy/Paste Values method to copy the data back into the .csv file before Importing that file back into the Editor. I can do much more complex editing via this method, than doing the same editing within the Editor.
I hope the above encourages those who are interested to dig into this capability and learn how to use it - just as I did.Roll TideComment
