MyGM Miami Heat I signed Melo w/ the Big 3

So in my Miami Heat MyGM mode i made it to the finals for the 2013-2014 season and got swept by the Clippers. I simulated most of the games. Since I already knew LeBron, Wade, Bosh all opt out of their contracts, I was wondering if I was able to add another superstar and then use the Bird Rights to resign the big 3, Well I did and it here is how it worked.

After all the Big 3 opted out, I didnt resign them in the "My Free Agents" in fact I let all the contracts that were expiring expire. So doing this gave me like almost $50 mil in CAP space. Only players still signed were Haslem, Norris Cole, Birdman.

So Melo opted out too and I signed him first at a 4 year around $19-20 mill a year. Then I signed LeBron to a 5 year $111 mill contract. For some reason he didnt want to take the extra $ in Bird Rights which worked out fine for me. Then I signed Wade using his Bird Rights to a 3 year about $16 mill a year and Bosh using his Bird Rights to a 4 year about $14 mill a year as well. I also resigned Chalmers using Bird Rights to a 3 year $17 mill contract. I signed Vince Carter as a 6th man using my Mid Level Exception at 1 year $2.5 mill. So my hard CAP is about $85 mill right now and then I just let the CPU chose 2 other minimum salary guys. So here is my lineup and it is RIDICULOUS (well my starters are)

    PG: Chalmers
    SG: Wade
    SF: LeBron
    PF: Melo
    C: Bosh
    6th: Vince Carter
    Role: Chris Anderson
    Role: Norris Cole
    Role: Udonis Haslem
bench: some rookie taken at 29th pick
bench : some rookie 2nd rounder
    bench: Luis Almundson

I know the bench is pretty weak, but Vince Carter is still good in this game and Haslem is better than his rating as well. Good thing is i have a lot of VC so i can influence some free agents to take less $ to come play with me when and/or if this roster doesnt win this year. What u guys think?

@bigsexymarc - I mean it seems completely totally 100% unrealistic haha, but it seems like fun too. That team should dominate. And honestly, the bench isn't that bad. I usually play a 10 man rotation so having Carter, Cole, Haslem, and Birdman in there is a solid enough bench to get by. Your superstars should take over the game after their rest so that bench should be able to hold a lead or slim a deficit.

Remember to sign players that were released. Check the free agent list, unusually each year, a few players get cut, and you can sign them to 1 year deals for the minimum

Not sure if you want to follow the real CBA rules, but in the NBA teams can't sign use their cap space to sign free agents and then use bird rights to resign players. You either have to resign your players and then use the remaining space (and MLE) to sign new players, or you have to renounce the rights to your old players before using cap space to sign new ones.

Wishful thinking, but a part of me thinks this might actually come true in 4 months time. The Big 3 + Melo all opt-out and sign with the Heat for around $13-14 million during the first year (The Big 3 have sacrificed financially before so why not again?). The remaining cap space will be used on Chalmers, Anderson, Haslem, and Oden. They will then use the mid-level to find replacements for Battier and Allen, assuming they both retire at the end of this season.
