Want to change 3-4 to 4-3. How?

I want my team to play 4-3 instead of 3-4 which is the default. What do i have to do for this to be possible? Do i need to change the coach? Playbook? Schemes? confuse about all this options.-

If i hire a new coach, it will bring his own playbook? let`s say i hire a 4-3 coach. It will start using the 4-3 playbook instead of the original one?

I`m playing with Gameplan Calling btw.

Assuming your playing a CFM.....

Go to the Team tab (I think) and select 'Strategy'. Set the defensive play book to which ever 4-3 book you want to use. You may or may not want/need to change schemes and player types. **Note** Changing to a 4-3 book will not reset your player types. In other words, you will still be able to set player types for MLB 1 & MLB 2 and DT1 even though a 4-3 should allow you to drop MLB 2 and pick up DT 2. It's a minor thing but it doesn't work properly.

under scheme you will see a lot of options. Forget whose playbook you list, IT DOES NOT MATTER. You will see choices such as 4-3, 3-4, 3-4 attack, etc etc. Then pick the sort of player you want. I always play the Hybrid Front D

What if i fire B.Arians(cards coach) and hire any 4-3 coach. Does he brings the Playbook with him or i have to manually change it?

I´m confuse, if i don´t select the playbook and leave the default one, coach will still use 3.4 formation since that is the default cards playbook. Even if i change schemes to 4-3

I believe i do have to change the playbook to a 4-3. Or i´m mistaken.

I think they'll bring their playbook with them. If not, in the schemes you can pick your default O and D books.

If your current coach's default defense is 3-4, then his defense will feature 3-4 defense plays. Just switch to a 4-3 play book under the Scheme screen and that will be your default playbook. You don't need to fire your coach. Just make all the required changes under the Strategy-Scheme screen. If you want to actually change your player's positions, you have to wait til the offseason.

Thanks so i don`t need to fire the coach. Actually i`m not sure if i can do that: i think i have to wait until the contract expires.

Now my question is, if i don`t resign the coach and i hire a new coach. Will this new coach change the schemes to his own style or it will still be the default scheme?

If it doesn`t change, then hiring a new coach won`t do anything. correct? I know CPU does change though. Not sure about user teams.

Not directed at you, but if true that is dumb - Jimmy Johnson was "fired" by Jerry Jones after winning back to back SBs, so I say fire away boys!!!


And yes - I am aware that Johnson said it was a "mutual decision" at the presser - BS I tell you...

You can just pick a 4-3 playbook. Scheme matter to an extent about the XP your players earn. you can change some player's positions, but there are limitations in Madden 25.


Madden doesn't have gap control and run force and improtant real football mechganics... however, it kind of plays like a 4-3 defense and despite the formations doesn't play anything like a 3-4.


What I have is a custom playbook with 4-3 OVER ODD that represents the 3-4 defense very well with a push of a single button... just use the right thumb stick to the left once while calling a play by formation. This will select the formation substitution "LB pass rush" and make all the adjustments for you to put all of your 3-4 players in their correct place. That way, my 3-4 personeel is playing 4-3 one gap style play. you can do the same thing for 4-3 over adn 4-3 odd, but you also have to use the Right Bumper [RB]/R1 button to do soem formation substitutions. It's more of a pain.


Now personally, I find that MOST defensive plays in Madden are trash. Only a few stock blitzes actually work and some of the coverage are terrible. I pretty much stick to cover 2 sink, cover 1 man under, cover 3, and cover 6.


There is a nice cover 1 blitz from I think 4-3 Odd where the LOLB is coming and I manually audible the ROLB and MLB into purple buzz zones. I will tell the singel high safety to play a yello hook and take over to user him to cover any deep middle threats. The yellow hook let's him play the run better and and quick throws as oppsoed to dropping back at the start of the play. the purple buzz zones help fight against any sideline breaking patterns such as the corner and deep out, while beign ableto come up and make a play on any completed pases to the flats or drags short.


linebackers in Madden have TERRIBLE man coverage ratings and I find get burnt all the time when left in man. that is why when I call cover 2 man under, I aduble my linebackers by presing RB and then flick the R-Stick up to drop them all in zones. Finally, I'll press Y for coverage audible and RB for "man align" that rebalcnes the zones. The weakness there is the sidelines, so as I said before I tend to tell the weakside LB to play a buzz or blue flats and user the strong side backer.


Now, by using the 49ers, that means beased on the 4-3 Odd, or the 4-3 Over Odd Aldon Smith and Ahmad brook will take turns being the man with his hand in the dirt... and evne still some palys drop them into coverage while the other rushes off the edge.
