Re: What Team are you Planning on Using and first actions
I will surely have to wait for the OSFM roster and then I will start up my franchise with my defending World Champs the Boston Red Sox...
Within the first year I'll establish Bogaerts and Bradley Jr's being in the majors as well as Middlebrooks, enjoy the final year(s) from Ortiz, Gomes(maybe) and probably Lackey and Peavy to make way for the youngings... I'm very excited for all the young players to get the majors since there are a lot of them on the horizon.
One position I will have to be on the search for is a closer. Koji will most likely just finish out the year and from there who knows. Most of the other positions however I will look in-house.
I see my DH spot after Ortiz being a question too. He's been there for over a decade, who will fill those shoes? At least now I can use that spot to give my players a rest from the field. If Napoli continues to hit well he'll be one of the guys to slot in there regularly.Comment

Re: What Team are you Planning on Using and first actions
Whenever a new version of the show drops, I like to start a franchise with the Rockies just to get used to all the changes in the new version. I moved to Colorado in '03 from NYC and enjoy going to Rockies games and love Coors field. When I am ready to start my "real" franchise, (after OSFM set drops) I roll with the Yankees.PSN: ckarlic

Re: What Team are you Planning on Using and first actions
I can relate to this (as I am sure most can).
While my favorite team, the Rockies are in the NL, there are a number of teams in the AL with cool stadiums that I wouldn't mind playing with. But I am not a big fan of the DH. I prefer working the strategy around the pitchers with pinch hitters and double switches which just doesn't happen as often, if at all in AL. I can't see myself playing with any of the NL West teams the Rockies compete against, I have no interest in any of the NL East teams and while there is one or two NL Central teams I could play with if push came to shove, ultimately they also compete against the Rockies. So back to Denver I go (I did live in CO for 8 years between 1998 and 2005).
With the late release of the game this season, I don't think I will be waiting for the OSFM rosters. I suspect I will work with the defaults out of the box or go with an online update if one exists on April 1st. But I am not a franchise player. I only play the game using the Season mode. So I don't need access to all the minor league players. However I am curious to see what SCEA has in store for the skill levels of all the different players in all the teams in MLB 14, especially of course the Rockies. In the last few years the team have had good offense with questionable pitching. But in the 2013 real world season, the hitting wasn't as good as it was in past years but their pitching while not great, was an improvement over the 2012 season.Last edited by My993C2; 03-09-2014, 11:01 AM.Comment

Re: What Team are you Planning on Using and first actions
3) It's completely against MLB rules, which I believe the game mirrors, until June 15th.this actually brings up a couple interesting things...
1. This type of contract needs the ability to "eat" some of the contract for trading
2. The trading needs to be a lot tougher because there might be around 3-5 teams (maybe) that would even consider taking this contract on in real life
on another not. The AL West (in the game) will b an insane division in about 2 seasons so that could def be the toughest division to play in@MikeLowe47 | YouTube | Discord

Re: What Team are you Planning on Using and first actions
This question probably only applies to people playing "Season" mode in MLB 14. But what are your thoughts on players who in the real world will be sitting out the 2014 season due to injury. Will they still be on your respective 25 man or 40 man rosters as you would prefer to have the best team available playing the season? Or will you be sitting them out just like they will be sitting out in the real world?Comment
