Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
Thanks guys. I'm torn on if I should get the ps4 or not. Really the show is the only game I play and I was willing to buy the ps4 just for the show because I really want the updated graphics. But having to pay this extra $50 for the updated franchise features doesn't seem worth it to me and I may stick with the ps3 another year. If the ps4 version has classic stadiums, SOTS, and a 2nd jersey template for the yankees jerseys then I'll be making the upgrade. If not then there really isn't a reason for me to make the switch.Last edited by The_Duke; 03-10-2014, 11:20 AM.Comment

I always find it interesting where people draw a line in the sand when purchasing something. You seem fine with spending $399 for the system (only the Show) and $59 for the game but draw the line at the extra $50 when in reality it would yield more value in dollar paid with cloud saves, free games etc. Even more you can find PS+ for $29.99 at certain times of the year. Thanks guys. I am not picking on you just more an observation, as I have seen this type of thinking from many.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
If people like them actually take a stand and don't purchase a game for a reason, than that's good. We need more people to set standards on what is acceptable in any market. One might see PS+ as a value, others see it as an added burden. Every market has different customers. There were people posting that SoTS was a deal breaker as well, I don't agree with them but I understand why they feel the way they do.I always find it interesting where people draw a line in the sand when purchasing something. Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
That's a fair observation. To each is own I guess. For me the free games doesn't really add any value because the show is the only game I play. Other types of games just don't interest me. I'm just a baseball fanatic. I would probably go ahead and get the ps+ for the ps4 if some of the features I mentioned earlier are in the ps4 just for the full experience. I seem to change my mind daily on which version I'm going with this year so who knows what I'll end up doing.I always find it interesting where people draw a line in the sand when purchasing something. But isn't online in these cases PS4......and not the game itself? If people like them actually take a stand and don't purchase a game for a reason, than that's good. There is no online play on the4 for any game w/o PS+....is there?

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
I was speaking to people specifically on here who would view a PS4 purchase as a means to play the PS4 version of MLB 14: The Show (The_Duke being an example). To them PS+ seems like a paywall and behind it is online franchise.
To someone like myself, I find PS+ to be a great value as I download and at least try any PS+ game that I don't already own. I've loaded up on PS+ codes from past sales so the online franchise issue doesn't affect me that much.
But to someone who only plays The Show (i.e. The_Duke who nemesis and my responses were based off of), PS+ means that the game could cost up to $110 this year if they want to play single player franchise with the new improvements. That's not including the cost of the PS4.
There was no way for any of these people to assume that there would be two distinct version of franchise in MLB 14: The Show. With the one that seems superior at this point in time to require PS+ on PS4.
I completely get where someone like The_Duke is coming from. To some the decision seems so simple, but its not for everyone.Last edited by MrOldboy; 03-10-2014, 07:29 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
Has it been clarified which parts of the offline franchise are missing from the online version? Until then That happens I don't think we can say whether simply starting a single player online franchise is a viable workaround. Not to mention the uncertainty over whether online franchises can be continued in future versions or not.Comment
