I officially can not get ea db editor to work for nhl 13. I can make the db, I have the correct XML. Everything should be perfect, but still getting the same error as before. Clueless. Stumped. Head scratcher.

-you could try Wine/WineBottler/WineSkin, didnt work for me so I did.....
-A Virtual Machine with VMware (or Parallels)
            -you could try Crossover
            -or Bootcamp Assistant

regardless your gonna need a copy of windows Operating System probably

This whole concept NEEDS a tutorial vid unlike any other. Completely inaccessible to the uninitiated. Program names in the piecemeal "instructions" do not even correlate with the program files found in the .zip. Seems convoluted, almost to the point of being intentionally so...

I was completely uninitiated and worked my way through it with no further help than what you can go back and read in the earlier pages of this thread. I had no idea in the beginning and was able to gain 100% use of these tools by asking a few questions and having some patience. It didn't take me long either. You sound bitter and entitled. I understand the frustration of not being able to utilize the tool if you desire to, but it's really nowhere near as difficult to work out as you make it out to be.

You're right. Shouldn't have phrased it the way I did. Frustrated with myself for not being able to get this thing down, I guess. I've read this thread from beginning to end and still can't quite get the result that I'm looking for. Moose, would you be willing to help me out if I posted my steps?

Go back and download emirca's XML and try that. It would give me the same exact error every time I did that until I downloaded his XML. Make sure it's encrypted as well through Bruteforce.

                      Re: NHL 14 Roster Tools

Any help here would be greatly appreciated, boys.

All I want to do, for now, is to apply the Bauer 4500 helmet to some players. Within the DB Editor, I assume that this would involve changing the number under the 'helmetbrand' column within the 'Player Equipment' tab. Unfortunately, every single player has a '0' under the 'helmetbrand' column within the 'Player Equipment' tab. Dougie_G_93 seems to think this is either 1) a problem with my .xml or 2) a problem with my .db. I don't think the problem is the .xml (I'm using the one for NHL14 found on DPyro's website) so it must be a problem with my .db. I've had quite a bit of trouble understanding this whole deal, so I figure I'm still messing up somewhere. Here's my process:

I downloaded the Revamped Deadline rosters for North American PS3. I extracted the 'PS3' Folder, put the 'PS3' Folder on a thumb drive, inserted it into my PS3, copied it to my PS3 hard drive, then removed the flash drive. Went to my comp and deleted the PS3 folder from the thumb drive. Back at the console, I fired up the NHL14, loaded the Revamped Deadline rosters, saved as a new roster "My Revamped Deadline", and returned to the PS3 Home Screen. Once there, I popped the thumb drive back in to the PS3 and transferred the "My Revamped Deadline" roster to the thumb drive.

Back at the comp, I inserted the thumb drive and copied the 'PS3' folder on the thumb drive into my 'BruteForce SaveData' folder. Within BruteForce, I created a profile based on the IDs contained in this new "My Revamped Deadline" roster. Then, still within BruteForce, I right-clicked on the 'SYS-DATA' portion of the PS3 folder and performed the 'Decrypt pfd' function. Having decrypted, I attempted to use the 'copy to' function within BruteForce, but found that it wasn't copying the decrypted SYS-DATA to a new location. I then closed the BruteForce program.

Within windows, I copied the (now-decrypted?) SYS-DATA from the 'PS3' folder in the BruteForce folder into my DB Patcher folder. I ran DB Patcher (selecting the 'PS3', 'NHL14', and 'Roster' fields) and extrated the .db by selecting the SYS-DATA file from within the DB Patcher folder. Leaving DB Patcher open, I then ran the Generic EA DB Editor. Once the Editor fired-up, I selected 'File' -> 'Load Config' and loaded the .xml from DPyro's website (for NHL14). Then, 'File' -> 'Open' -> I opened the .db.

Within the .db, Players have various different skates, sticks, jersey tucks, shoulder pads, pants brands (I didn't even know this was a thing?!?!), etc., but every single player has a '0' under the 'helmetbrand' column within the 'Player Equipment' tab.

Is there something wrong with my process? For instance, a la a Horizon/XBTaf XBOX user, should I not have shut-down BruteForce before extracting the .db using DB Patcher? Similarly, should I not have left DB Patcher running before opening the DB Editor?

Alternatively, am I using the wrong .xml? Could someone who's having success with, say, helmet editing provide me with a copy of his .xml?

Sorry for the long-winded post. Just trying to be as explicit as I can because I'm horrifically stupid when it comes to this whole deal.

It doesn't sound like a problem with your process. It could just be that the .xml you're using has a column mislabeled. Try downloading an alternative .xml (there's a completely up to date one some pages back which I recently used, I'll try to go back and find it) and seeing if that handles the problem. You have the idea right, of changing the value for the helmet brand and I don't think the issue you're encountering is because of something you're doing wrong. I'll look for the other .xml for you.

Moose24x, you, sir, are the man. My issue was the .xml. Got some editing done last night, all thanks to your .xml, and I'm looking forward to loading the roster and enjoying some gaming tonight. Thank you very much for your help!
