Madden NFL: The Best 2014 Free Agents

Free agency begins, will the Broncos be able to get over the hump?

Free Agency is the drug that keeps us football fanatics sane during the offseason, and it begins today! This year, the signing period becomes even more important to us because the NFL Draft has been pushed back to May, forcing the suspense rise on who your favorite team will be taking in the first round. So with this upcoming free agency let's go all in and enjoy it while it lasts. I've chosen ten free agents and placed them on the Madden team with the best fit. This isn't necesarily where they'll end up once it's all said and done, but that's why the suspense is worth it: we get to banter back and forth about topics like this.

I'd be shocked if New England opened their wallet to Eric Decker. He's a decent WR1-2, but he'll want to be paid as a WR1, and if there's anything we've learned since 2001, the Patriots will not pay a WR1 salary. They'll bring in guys who are looking to win at a reduced salary (Randy Moss, Chad Johnson), or less known players and hope to develop them into impact players (it worked with Wes Welker, has not worked with Danny Amendola), but they won't pay for a WR1. I think that Golden Tate would be a more likely result for NE, but even then, I think he'll want too much money for New England and they'd rather draft a cadre of league-minimum rookies than potentially over-pay for a free agent WR.
