    Make Madden Fun Again.

    Hey Guys,

    It’s been 3 or 4 months since I last played Madden 25.

I played it loads, pretty much every night for a few weeks and then I got bored of it. It’s just the same thing over and over again, go through an entire season, win the super bowl, free agency, draft, do the same all over again. I play on Jarodd21's All Madden sliders.

The draft is my favourite part, drafting young guys and watching them progress.

But it’s so boring and repetitive! I’m talking offline CCM mode.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make offline CCM more fun?

Make yourself some house rules. Many have had great times playing limiting yourself as you play.

Man, you guys are downers. We have someone that actually wants to give it another shot and all you can bring to the table is negativity?

Dig deep and find one thing, just one, that makes madden fun and let him know.

I dont understand OPs question. Is it boring BECAUSE its too easy for you? Simple solution:

Offense: Only choose between the plays "Ask Madden" lets you choose from. No more cheese, automatic plays you would normally call.

Defense: Only control ONE player on defense. This makes it even more of a challenge when going through free agency and drafting because if you don't allow yourself to switch over to a defender then the people you're not playing with need to be better at tackling/awareness/man coverage ect...

Free Agency: If you're like me, you can build a 53 man roster with 25 of those guys rated 82+ and still have $20m in cap room. Well make a rule that your CAP NUMBER is $15m-20m below everyone else.

Draft: I've noticed its too easy to go through a season stocking up on Scouting points and before the draft, you can get the overall's for most of the guys that fit your system/needs in the first and second rounds. So, let's trade your first round pick every year for a 7th to the WORST team the previous year. Help the worst team become better and help make it harder for you to draft a player to develop.

Player Progression: Don't cheese with this. Don't practice, Don't earn XP points to boost your players other then their God (EA Sports) given abilities. If a player comes out of college with a 68 in speed... in real life theres no way he'll EVER reach a 85 speed. Goes the same with man coverage, zone coverage... everything.

Just control yourself and limit your resources. Ive got the sliders and my skill set managed so each game is competitive. There are some teams easier then others and some I just can't seem to outplay...but all in all its fun and competitve games.

I like to use 32 team control to make insane stacked teams and then battle for the title with them. Like Manning and Bryant on one team and Russell Wilson and AP on another and Brady and Marshall on another.

I think the bold print kind of defines your situation. You want this game to be fun and exciting for you and it's just not. That's pretty much just your reality.....I don't think there's much anyone can do to somehow make it enjoyable for you.

Really it's know one job to dig deep and find something that will make him enjoy the game again."Where are our standards'?He really needs to ask the developers that questioned or the die hard fans of Madden.

                    Re: Make Madden Fun Again.

I have nothing against Madden. I think the game is alright, but my perspective is, competition is good. If 2K or another developer out there were making a football game, I think Madden would up it’s game and be better… and if not, there’s always the option of the other. But that’s just me.

They got it right one year. Madden 12, I couldn’t stop playing that game! I’ve no idea why, but I really enjoyed that game and it’s the only Madden game I’ve pretty much played from release date to release of Madden 13.

I don’t want to get into a “I hate Madden” because I don’t but, it’s more or less the exact same game every year they keep rolling out. Just with updated rosters. But I guess, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, ha.

I’ll go ahead and try some house rules. See how I get on.

There just needs to be a pay-off, something that makes me want to go through the next season again. I really like the progression of players in FIFA and the youth academy, that really kept me playing that game.

                    But I appreciate everyone’s feedback.

Let me ask another question - What keeps you hooked? What makes you play season after season?

Madden gets boring very fast and there is no fixing it. I can win the Superbowl with the Raiders my first year with house rules (madden plays only, use only one player on defense ect. ect.) on All-Madden. I go thru the off-season and come season 2 i am bored already. No depth is what makes me bored very quick.

For me, its the challenge and worry about getting fired. I recall in M13 how I would spend a whole season scouting guys to fit my needs... and sure enough I miss the playoffs by 1 game and i get fired. All my scouting and team knowledge was for the REDSKINS and now I'm going to a new team blind and unaware. So if I know my job is on the line, then I got to hit on all P's and Q's under my house rules if I want to retain my job.

                        1) I have to scout late round guys that will benefit my team (because I never have a first round draft choice)

                        2) I have to find guys in free agency that are value signings. I never give a player what they ask, I always go above and beyond. Limit my salary cap to $15m-$20m under the game salary cap.

Im always adjusting the sliders. If I go through 2 or 3 games and I'm rushing 22-25 times a game but am getting 140+ yards a game, I'll adjust the sliders so the CPU doesn't miss tackles ect...

                          Try this.
                          Fantasy draft.
Draft the worst players at all positions.
Trade draft picks for future ones

                            Re: Make Madden Fun Again.

For me what USED to keep me playing year in and year out was the offseason free agency and draft modes. But now with your scouts living in the stone age and such not knowing ANY of the prospects abilities whatsoever, it kinda sucks now. The physical in game mode has been stale for me since 05. It took about 5 years to realize (2010 or 11) that every madden I played after 2005 I would just sim seasons to do the offseason stuff.

With games like 2k I like being able to create draft classes entirely each year, and with games like the show I enjoy being able to edit every aspect of new players and prospects in the game even in the middle of a franchise. I have a lot of fun creating "role players" in that game (some guys are purely fielders, some are base runners, some are power hitters, etc)...

Since you can't create draft classes, can't edit players, and the only rating that makes a noticeable difference in madden is speed, I can't have fun with drafts, "role players", or any of the above. It's just a stale game without any depth to me. Wasn't always that way unfortunately.

                              Re: Make Madden Fun Again.

Personally, I think a lot of it revolves around simply how the game looks. People want to talk about gameplay--yes, that matters.

But player proportions are kind of wonky--some guys have little bodies with big heads. Other guys have shoulder pads that are too high and make them look almost neckless.

Another issue is player faces--too many players on each team not only don't look like themselves, they look like OTHER players on the team. Heck, I'm drafting players in Madden 25 that look identical face-wise to stars I drafted in Madden 12. That creates a sameness and staleness to the game. If you are seeing new players enter your CFM that look just like guys you drafted 2-3 years ago, it's gonna get old--because it's literally old.

Guys also move robotically--there's a lack of smoothness pre and post-play. Cut scenes are not just repetitive, they are limited.

There's zero presentation, just a bunch of medium shots of players stiffly walking around after a play.

Some may say this stuff doesn't matter, but I'm telling you, it adds up. When you play a game that has 16 games per season, possibly more if you make the playoffs (and certainly more if you occasionally play with a buddy or a friend online), these factors seriously make the game feel dry, robotic, and utterly calculated.

They need to breathe some organic life into this game--from faces to presentation to animations.
