Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
The issue is there are exclusive features to offline franchise (like contract logic, editable potential, hire/fire manager, notifications) and exclusive features to online franchise (like lineup logic, trade logic, stored player stats) and every year the gap will increase between the two modes and they will both have more and more exclusive features. For the Human vs CPU franchise guys we are getting screwed because we have to choose between which features matter the most.
Personally I am still going with offline franchise but I will miss the CPU lineup and trade logic as well as stored player stats. IMO the best situation is to have offline franchise eliminated and have it all online so we benefit from the expanded player stats as long as it has the ability to have custom rosters and save states. I would feel better if the devs gave us their plan for the future right now it seems like they are doing half and half on each mode I don't feel good about the future if that is their method.
Good post BrianU ... I would have liked your post, but for some reason I can no longer like posts. With the greater number of franchise players being offline users, it is hard to understand why the offline franchise users have to use a 'minor league' version.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
Some things that offline franchise does, would not necessarily make sense to do in the same fashion online. The Off season comes to mind here.
People will have to evaluate the modes and see where they find the most value to the way they desire to play the game.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
Again, the issue is not that people are upset that work went into Online Franchise, I'm sure many are happy for it as I am and will use it. I've already joined a league with you in it as well. But it has created a situation where people need to choose between two versions of single player franchise with different features (some core to the experience like how the CPU interacts with the player).Comment

Well said MrOldboy. Hustlinowl needs to relax and embrace all the online franchise upgrades, (great news for online players) and let the offline users voice concerns.

Some of the changes made it into offline but not all. I do agree, the ps3 is finished and I doubt they are adding any features to the ps4 at this point. They are testing gameplay and finishing the stadiums.≡Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
I thought franchise players played the most games in The Show, according to Russell less than 10% are franchise.I will give RTTS a shot this year and see what I have been missing.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
Think about how many more games a RTTS player gets through compared to a Franchise or online player.
I know that RTTS games are by far the largest % of my games, but that is because you cannot sim them and still get enough training points. You have to play the games and they go very fast. Especially when you turn off fielding and baserunning. With franchise and DD there is a lot more time managing your team, much longer games and no penalty for simming games.
If I think about it I've probably spend about 50% of my time in franchise, 30% DD and 20% RTTS. Not counting editing rosters, etc.
But if I think about the # of games I play, RTTS is way more than the other two combined and probably does look something like 90%, but its only a small part of my time.
Now with player lock and more training points for simming in RTTS I wonder how far that number will skew this year.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise
Ok so I just read through the entire thread and have come to a decision, I will give online a try because I hated the trade logic that used last year. I always saw the Indians trading Lindor for some random major league player and it pissed me off. I do not like using the 30 team control because I do not like having to read through every email for every team and the blinking lights aggravate me. But what I really like offline is the ability to change players potentials that is one thing I have really been looking for in MLB games. So for me it is a toss up on what on which one I play. But if I do actually need PS+ for online on PS3 which would make sense imo, because I think you need it for online on the other 2 systems. But if changing player potentials is in online then I will use that and just do me vs 29 cpu teams.Comment
