Didn't Pettis just use that kick in his win over Benson Henderson? Iirc, he did that and slipped and then Benson got on top of him which led to the armbar.

That kick in the video was on Aldo, so I guess he's one of the guys that we will be able to use up a weight class?

or Pettis can drop down. Remember the fight they had scheduled was at 145.

just ask Vinc Pichel. Rustam Khabilov belly to back suplexed him 4 or 5 times.

            The last one KOed Pichel.

True. Hopefully it is both. I just hope there is some sort of sim stamina thing like in UFC 3 so people can't spam all of these new things.

Compared to the early footage all the animations looked crisper, the graphics were silky and it looked like there's a great variety of strikes available.

Can't wait to buy it (whenever it is that it comes out)!

Also the kick Pettis threw in the WEC was a jumping one of the cage, not slipping a high kick into a spinning almost half cartwheel looking thing into a high kick...no not even close. That's something from Street Fighter, not what you'd see in a UFC fight.
No, that cage kick was against Benson Henderson. He did that kick in the trailer against someone else in WEC in that exact same motion. Kevin Randleman has done belly to back suplexes multiple times in Pride and UFC, so they happen in MMA, just not often.

From looking at some of these posts here, that's why these companies aren't eager to drop early footage trailers. Too much overanalyzing goes on at times for a "hype" trailer. Once I see some uncut gameplay and get my hands on the sticks (ie: demo or rental) that'll be the true defining moment.

And I'm sure Pettis has thrown that kick in the UFC as well. A couple of guys do cartwheel kicks every now and again so people saying 'that'd never happen' need to watch the damn product.

I really don't think the devs would put things in just for the hell of it if they haven't been done in UFC or some other organisation.

Exactly, I've seen Pettis try riskier moves as well, they don't all work, but that's part of his fight style. Like you said, people need to learn the product and the fighters first and foremost.

I know a lot of other people here will have done also, but when you watch every UFC event for the last 5 years you remember things like that. I know Ebersole attempts those regularly for instance.

It makes me laugh when people try to claim something never happens in a forum like this where a lot of people watch literally nearly all the fights that take place.

I was thinking about Ebersole too. He's thrown that kick several times in the UFC but never landed it.

I remember someone landed one once but not with a lot of force behind it.

Going back to the trailer, i love how the strikes were connecting. Collision detection is one thing that's held sports games back over the years, and with this game and FIFA, devs seem to finally be overcoming that obstacle.

I thought about him as well, and although I'm not outright against "flashy" moves in the game - if you map a button and stick move together for that fighter, it becomes something in his arsenal in-game that you'll see multiple times per fight, whereas in real life for some fighters you may only see it once or twice in his career. And in Ebersole's case, as you mentioned he's never used it to effectiveness, so is it a throwaway move in the game that doesn't cause too much damage? Or is it over-emphasized with people smashing the share button to show their cartwheel-kick KO.

Signature moves are cool, but only given a very solid foundation. I would hope that 2 people can have a basic muay thai/kickboxing match in the game using mostly fundamentals with respectful-to-the-sport results; and have the fundamentals outweigh the flash.
