MLB The Show 14 for Vita
Already paid off my Vita copy at GameStop.
Question for you all. Is the Vita version available for download at Midnight like the PS3 version? If so I will just go get so PSN cards and download it and maybe pick up Killzone Mercenary

Re: MLB The Show 14 for Vita
I don't trust online downloads to be up as advertised, plus they take too long.
Either way, you need KillZone: Mercenary. Re: MLB The Show 14 for Vita
Every Vita game I buy is digital (except Pro Spirits), anyway - they never go up at midnight. Usually the show is up around 4pm ish. With that being said though, never had an issue with the digital versions of any game.Whitesox 2005 Champs!Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 for Vita
I got it. Played a practice round while riding home on the subway.
I haven't noticed any big changes to faces or graphics yet, but I wasn't one who really noticed the chipmunk faces from last year's.
I'll play a little more and see if I can tell the difference.
Here's my RTTS guy.Attached FilesLast edited by torpidbeaver; 03-30-2014, 01:13 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 for Vita
First impression: it feels like the window to hit the ball is a little screwy, but I'm sure I'll get used to it over time. I immediately pushed down pitch speed as I was late on every single pitch.
Just took two at-bats in the RTTS Amateur Showcase, two groundouts. Wish the simulating would go a little faster.
Love how smooth it is. Graphics feel great. The hitting/pitching mechanics are still wonderful.
The PCI is reaaaaaaaaally sensitive. I'll think I'm moving to cover the lower outside corner, but instead am ALL the way in the bottom righthand corner. That'll take a lot more getting used to.Last edited by torpidbeaver; 03-30-2014, 01:22 PM.Comment

I must ask whether you've owned any previous Vita versions?First impression: it feels like the window to hit the ball is a little screwy, but I'm sure I'll get used to it over time. I immediately pushed down pitch speed as I was late on every single pitch.

Re: MLB The Show 14 for Vita
Last year's was the only one I had. I'm either not remembering the chipmunk faces or I never paid much attention.
I primarily played on PS3 last year, except when I was away from my house.
I'm probably not the best person to be giving impressions, but I'm trying my best.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 for Vita
Playing a CPU vs. CPU game. Looks like so far, no replays. There was a nasty double play attempt that took out a runner, no replay. Then a strikeout, no replay.
I'm hearing LOTS of the same lines from last year. "Looks like he was waiting for that same breaking pitch. Because that one? That one was right there."
Fan noise is awesomely better. Really can tell a difference.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 for Vita
Thanks for sharing! Really disappointing about the fictional faces, though. I don't expect the same level of detail as PS3 but they could at least have some normal looking faces.Last year's was the only one I had. I'm either not remembering the chipmunk faces or I never paid much attention.

How is the presentation in-game? Are there starting pitcher/lineup introductions in the games?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 for Vita
I don't remember there being a replay mode in last year's game. Am I just not recalling that?
You DO have the ability to go back and instant replay something yourself, and it's pretty cool.
I just had my first real bad slowdown on a foul ball. Like, chunky soup bad.
I gotta say, the parks look MUCH better than I remembered.
JUMPING AROUND HERE.
I turned on Playoff Mode, playing as the Pirates. Made it five pitches into a playoff game against the Reds, and suddenly I'm looking at the bullpen screen. No explanation, no nothing. I tried to back out, couldn't. Says, "You must replace F. Liriano." So I guess he got injured? Sucked that the announcing team didn't mention anything.
I haven't seen any walk-ups yet, but what's weird is you're given the option to pick a walk-up theme when you make your RTTS guy. Maybe that's info they utilize for the PS3/PS4 version or something? Whenever a new guy comes up to bat, however, it only shows them in the batter's box.
"Coming up to bat now is Starling Marte" or whatever.Last edited by torpidbeaver; 03-30-2014, 03:15 PM.Comment
