KSig24 Top Prospect Project: 2014 OSFM

Here we go again. I'll be posting my top guys. I need some info on the attribute portion and if there has been any changes to potential.

I'm also open to any and all questions. I've received a significant promotion so my evaluation skills are more comprehensive and considering we are mostly talking about existing prospects I can unleash my evaluations freely.

I've got a couple of questions about prospects, if you wouldn't mind sharing! These guys aren't top prospects, but I am curious to see what you think about Nick Ciuffo's (Rays) and Max Moroff's (Pirates) futures. Moroff is a little more obscure, but I think he could end up being a decent player; I know him in real life, as he's my buddy's cousin. Sorry that these aren't questions related to the cream of the crop, but it's fun to pick the brains of professionals and those who know what they're talking about -- feel free to ignore my post, if you so please lol.

      Ksig-

Wanted to give you my plans with the Royals, and let you provide feedback (didn't include Ventura, as he should be in the game already)

-Zimmer: A/A- (think he has #1 stuff if he can stay healthy)
-Mondesi: A- (hard to project because he's SO young, but could be a star)
-Manaea: A- (would have considered a B+, but the reports are that he looks GREAT this spring.)
      -Almonte: B+
      -Dozier: B
-Bonifacio: B (Dozier and bonifacio both look like good bets to become solid big league players, but nothing too flashy)
-Hernandez: B (Also a long way away, which gives some flexibility)
-Starling: B- (I actually don't think Starling will ever be a "B-" player. He'll either figure it out and be much better, or never amount to anything. For now, I'll put him as a B- with tools all over the board)
-Cuthbert: B-/C+ (I'm higher on him than some others, based mainly on age.)
-Adam: B-/C+ (I think it's going to be a telling year for him. Looks like he could be a solid #4 type starter)
-Calixte: C+ (going to have to learn the strike zone to be more than a utility man)
-Selman: C+ (I don't have faith he will be a starter. Could be a very good RP though

-Dwyer, Eibner, Mariot, Evans, Gallagher, Adams, Patton: All fall in the solid C range. Each could contribute at the big league level, but all have work to do and will have holes in their game

-Gasparini, Duenez, some others are intriguing, but probably won't make the 90 players in the game due to age.

Would love to hear your thoughts

I dont mind at all. Most of the information I can give you is from our database on players that I have not seen personally.

Ciuffo is certainly a prospect and if it were me, i'd include him in the game simply because he is a both way catcher. I am not going to slap him with a C potential because I am someone who thinks that the game has a serious flaw in regards to potential in previous iterations. His D is pretty solid and his offensive upside is solid as well. Do you have any specific questions in regards to him? I have seen him twice, once at Wrigley and once in San Diego.

Moroff slipped because he was supposed to go to college, but he is a another player that projects to stick at the position with good defense. When I say good, I mean MLB average or better. His ISO is something that will be looked at pretty significantly as his small sample size of professional hitting has people worried. Again, any specific questions?

Thanks! In regard to Ciuffo, I was mainly wondering if he could possibly be a legit catcher of the future for the Rays, as that's something we've always lacked (should have freaking taken Posey in place of Beckham in that '08 draft ); with how you talk about him, though, he sounds good. And with Moroff, I think you've answered most of my questions. I know there is some worry about him sticking at SS, so it's cool that he's projected to be able to handle it. Yeah, he only took up on his offer from the Pirates because of them being able to put more money on the table, on account of Appel not signing with them. What do you think are the chances of Moroff making it to the bigs and sticking? Would you say that if his offensive capabilities improved that he'd probably make it?

When is Hak-Ju Lee of the Rays going to debut because I remember reading about him last year and I have not read anything about him this year. Is still going to be a good player in the MLB? And also can you give me a top 10 breakout prospect list for the Red Sox. I am looking for someone like Mookie Betts, whom I had never heard of but could become a known name by the end of the season. And one more request if it's not too much but how about a top 5 closer/reliever prospects. They never get any love. The only two I can think of Hembree and Carter Capps.

Curious on you opinions of the Cub's 2013 international signings.

                Jimenez, Torres, Tseng, Rivero, Mejia.

Yes, Ciuffo could be good and has the offensive and defensive capabilities to stick. All-Star upside.

Moroff, will stick and his D is legit. Great footwork, excellent glove and above average range. Bat needs to develop, but he's got time as he was a HS signee. He did sign above slot so you can see what Pitt saw in him.

Involved in all aspects. I now oversee Scouts and now my opinion matters more than it did when I was a Scout. Involved in the college scene how?

Lee should be up this year but his bat hasn't come along as it was supposed to by this point. His defense is still excellent and that may be enough to get him here.

He does, but you asked me for under the radar closer candidates. I think Stroman profiles there best. His combination of plus pitches would make him a lights out closer. Its just my opinion.

                            Oh and you're welcome.

I think you mixed the two up, I just realized this. I asked for top 5 closer/reliever prospects. And top 10 breakout Red Sox prospects, like Mookie Betts was last year. And yea thanks
