What a bad decision by Sandberg to put in a rookie for his first appearance in a tie game in the bottom of the 9th. Ugh.

Re: 3/30 - 4/6 Game Discussion Thread
Brad Miller sure does love him some 2 HR games. Has 2 tonight, which gives him 10 total HRs so far in his 78 games. He now has 4 games with 2 HRs. So strange.Comment

Re: 3/30 - 4/6 Game Discussion Thread
All scoring plays need to be reviewable. Period.LOL so first the Giants ask for a play to be reviewed which the umpires wrongly let stand, then that same runner scores on a passed ball (should be a wild pitch for the cross-up) and make a wrong call at home plate, and now we can't get it reviewed to be reversed.
The run scores from two incorrect calls, a poorly judged review, and a play that cannot be requested for review.

Re: 3/30 - 4/6 Game Discussion Thread
I thought Bochy couldn't review because he lost the review earlier? Which is something else that needs to be fixed with the system.
If the whole point of the system is to get calls right, why arbitrarily limit the number of reviews? It's really just a novelty if there is a limit to the number of uses per game.Comment

Re: 3/30 - 4/6 Game Discussion Thread
The other thing i'm getting tired of is managers coming out and having a word with the umpires while their video review guy is determining whether to review it or not. If you REALLY question a call then go and MAKE A CHALLENGE! Don't just waste 5 minutes of everyone's time to stall. Joe Maddon has done this a lot so far on plays that aren't even THAT close really. John Gibbons hasn't been that bad as one call he stalled time for was actually pretty close to the naked eye but the replay clearly wasn't going to be overturned. (it was a play at the plate btw)I thought Bochy couldn't review because he lost the review earlier? Which is something else that needs to be fixed with the system.

Re: 3/30 - 4/6 Game Discussion Thread
I'm going to miss managers throwing their 10 minute tantrums. There's nothing like a visiting manager coming out of the dugout to argue a call and the home town fans rising to their feet to yell at the umpire to throw the manager out of the game.
Bobby Cox's record for ejections is safe for all-time now.Comment

There will still be plenty of room for ejections with the way balls and strikes are called.Comment

Re: 3/30 - 4/6 Game Discussion Thread
That is why. I'm just saying that it's unfortunate they didn't call him out correctly the first time (then and on the replay review), but when they didn't call him out correctly the second time, now we've already burned it on that same guy who was already out once.
Strategy and pacing, I guess. But when they did this system, they promised it wouldn't slow the pacing of the game too much. A look or two, and that's it. Well, this one took three minutes minimum to figure out, and they got it wrong. If the whole point of the system is to get calls right, why arbitrarily limit the number of reviews? It's really just a novelty if there is a limit to the number of uses per game.
Who's to say this didn't screw up Cain that inning with the delay as well? After all, he did throw that pitch that ended up getting by Posey (I honestly still think it was a cross-up because Posey dropped like it was going to be a curveball). Bochy made that challenge because we all know what the replay showed. Hell, it was showed on the stadium screen, and even the crowd oo'ed and ah'ed when they saw the tag applied.
It was just screwed up, and the system ended up hurting the Giants when it was put in place to help them in a scenario like this.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
