Regression (how is it this year)

I am waiting for the PS4 version, but I am wondering what regression was like so far.

In my opinion, last year's regression was a good idea, but rather broken. Some people just crashed ability wise (and sometimes as young as 34). I thought it was too severe in most cases, and wish it could be "adjusted" or "turned off".

Any results so far on how it works now?

    Anyone?

    Anything?

    Even in simmed seasons...

I simmed a season and didn't see anything that stuck out. I mostly simmed to look at stats though, so I didn't look at regression too much. I did check Derek Jeter's rating to see if he regressed and his rating was 82 I think. I'm not sure what rating he starts at, but the fact that he's still in the low 80s says its not as bad as last year. Last year he was one of the hardest hit so it doesn't seem as bad this year from what I've seen but I didn't look at the entire league

sounds like a big change (probably to better) cos from what I saw on a screenshot jeters rating at the beginning of the game is 83 (anybody who can confirm it?)
would be great of somebody could check how the ratings after year one (of some) of the following players:
Carlos Beltran, David Ortiz, Torii Hunter, Paul Konerko, Rafael Furcal, A.J. Pierzinski, Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Carlos Ruiz, Cliff Lee, Aramis Ramirez, R.A. Dickey, Hiroki Kuroda, Bartolo Colon, Kyle Lohse, Tim Hudosn...

Some more could be added but thats enough for the start I suppose.

          I'll give it a shot:

          Beltran- 90: 86
          Ortiz- 88: 77
          Hunter- 85: 68
          Konerko- 82: 77
          Furcal- 79: 68
          AJ- 79: 74
          Rollins- 85: 78
          Utley- 83: 80
          Ruiz- 84: 74
          Lee- 90: 89
          Ramirez- 87:
          Dickey- 86: 71
          Kuroda- 83: 68
          Colon- 81: 66
          Lohse- 84: 78
          Hudson- 83: 76

First number is start of season and the second is after.

Note: I ended spring instead of simming.

            thanks a lot

It's looking better I'd say. That Beltran would just drop 4 points with a 90 rating and at age of 37 would not have happened last year. Same goes for Konerko, AJ and Lee. But the very old guys like Kuroda, Colon, Hunter or Dickey are still falling of a cliff, although it's not the biggest sample size. would be interesting to sim a whole (first) season again and check the ratings of those same players once more, and how much they differ from those results.

And to be honest they should. Players in late 30's do fall off the cliff. Year 2 Beltran is still a 84 for me.

If you guys wouldn't mind, can you post the individual ratings with the biggest drops? For instance, Beltran might lose more power in one person's franchise and therefore has a steeper drop compared to him losing more contact.

I deleted the save but I can do it again. Any specific players and attributes?

Doesn't really matter, but here's what I'm looking for:

                    Hitters

Is regression the same across the board or does it affect certain ratings more? If the latter, do tools (hitting, power, speed, reaction) decline faster than skills (vision, discipline, fielding ability)?

                    Pitchers

Is there a steady decline in velocity and if so, at what age does it start?

Do velocity, command, and break progress/regress separately?

The number of players 35 and older who are playing enough games to qualify is a small percentage of overall players in MLB. Most of the guys still around are corner outfielders and relief pitchers.

At the very least they should get a big decline in durability if the goal is accurately reproducing MLB If the goal is to allow people to have their favorite players stick around longer then disregard what I just posted.
