PS3 Baserunning Controls
Can anyone give me the exact baserunning controls? I am a veteran of this game, but for whatever reason I'm having a dog of a time with the baserunning controls, and I'm starting to wonder if either I'm suddenly doing it wrong, or there is something wrong with my controller.......JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDETags: None -
Re: PS3 Baserunning Controls
I tried both options, and with both options I can't get the runners to do what I ask, for example, runner on second, base hit to center, as he's rounding third I send him home, he stops and goes back to third. Often times, base hit to the fence, runner rounds first heads to second, then turns and goes back to first. I'm hitting what I think is the correct buttons as in the past, but it's not responding. So, I can't tell if it's me or the controller.
Any chance you could specify the controls for these two scenarios and I can see if I'm suddenly doing it wrong?JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

You can look it up while playing the game. You have to figure out which baserunning control you are using first. Then you can look and it will tell you under game controls in the pause menu of a game.Comment

Re: PS3 Baserunning Controls
I use the default base running which uses the left stick to target runners. In your first scenario of a runner on second being sent home, I would make sure that runner was targeted (blinking icon) and press "X" to send him home. On your second scenario I would make sure the runner was targeted and would press triangle. Make sure you are inputting these commands before they reach the base so their stride will not be broken.I tried both options, and with both options I can't get the runners to do what I ask, for example, runner on second, base hit to center, as he's rounding third I send him home, he stops and goes back to third. Re: PS3 Baserunning Controls
Why is baserunning in this game so complicated?
I've played the show for a few years & have never grasped the controls for running the bases. Often times I will end up with two players heading to the same base, or a player standing on first when everyone else is heading towards home.Comment

Re: PS3 Baserunning Controls
It appears that you are not alone. Every year when the Show comes out many people seem to struggle with base running. I think many panic juggling multiple runners on base and it is easy to get out of sync with the commands once things start going wrong. The inputs are very responsive so if you can keep it together the system is pretty easy to use.Why is baserunning in this game so complicated?

Re: PS3 Baserunning Controls
Honestly, I think the controls (at least on classic) are NOT responding the way they should. Classic is supposed to be the exact same it was last year, but I am having trouble especially when trying to send a runner an extra base. Most of the time, I get the wrong runner advancing, even though I am POSITIVE I hit the correct buttons. It appears that you are not alone. I can't comment on classic because I do not use it. The default base running is fine though, have not had one hiccup.Honestly, I think the controls (at least on classic) are NOT responding the way they should. Im having the same issue with classic.Honestly, I think the controls (at least on classic) are NOT responding the way they should. I have a runner on first and I send him to third on a double by the batter.
The guy who gets the double will round second and start for third.
Then I will send him back to second and the guy on third will head back to second resulting in him being out at second or in a run down.
Also there are times I will tell the runner to go and he doesn't go right away.
I have never had a problem with classic base running before on the show.
I have since changed to auto and playing with auto base running has problems too. I blasted two balls that I knew were going off the wall, and had I been using classic the runners would have been moving(even the outfielder knew he could not catch the ball and was set for the bounce off the wall) but they stayed on the base until the ball hit high off the wall.Comment

Re: PS3 Baserunning Controls
I've been using default and have had some trouble. My guys round 1st fine, but 2nd or 3rd and they stop and then start running again. Really making me mad. I turned off the game earlier because it made me so mad today. I had a guy on second got a base hit sent the guy home and he stops at 3rd then starts going again. All of a sudden he's out at the plate. He would have been safe if he didn't stop.Comment

Re: PS3 Baserunning Controls
I'm playing a game now and I just had runners on 1st and 2nd, I hit the ball in the gap the runner at second doesn't want to go when I press the button for him to go, then I send him to home well the runner who was on first who is now going to third takes off home luckily both runners were safe but most of the time the second guy always gets outComment

Re: PS3 Baserunning Controls
It feels like they make it harder to control every year, or it just gets sloppier, I'm not sure.
I screwed up in franchise mode one too many times and just put it on auto-baserunning. There are times that it will not do what I'd prefer, but it's still more accurate than I ever was with those controls.Angels - Ducks - Jets - Celtic F.CComment
