Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?

Like I'm seriously more frustrated with this game then I think I've ever been with any game before, ever.

Trying so hard to enjoy My Team, didn't lose a game until I hit the 6th seed now apparently everyone's a complete waste of life that thinks Gerald Green and Rudy Gay are the best players in NBA history.

Full court presses that my team refuses to get open on or they just throw terrible passes even when they aren't even hard to make.
Apparently spamming turbo into the paint still works...with anyone
Smashing the x button on D will get you a steal
Oh and Luol Deng can't hit a three for my squad...

And don't get me started on the all-gold teams I face, people must have nothing else to spend money on it's just sad to me.

This mode needs SERIOUS patching to even be remotely fun cuz right now I'm on the verge of snapping the disc lol...actually on second thought, it's not just My Team, I play quick games and it's the same BS over and over.

*It's not even the game, which is the sad thing, it's the people. It's some of you guys, whether you wanna admit it or not. If people would just play real ball it would be a beautiful thing. From 2K7 to 2K11 all I did was play quick ranked, and now it definitely caters to the scrubs who wanna play NBA Jam.

I remember Xbox saying you could avoid people who you don't like and all that, but does 2K protect these guys or something? Cuz you only see their gamertags during pauses (if they ever pause) and they don't show up in recent players...like yea, don't let me avoid these cancers to 2K because they're the same sheep willing to spend $100 extra on VC to be good at the game. SMH, a $60 f2p game.

Sorry for the rant, it's just sad that such a great game is ruined by greed and people willing to sacrifice any fun just to win in a meaningless videogame when it comes down to it.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Idk if 2k focuses on realism as much as they use too.

I think they focus on a game that mimics players but is fun to play and pickup for everyone. Not a hardcore simulation.

Umm.... a lot of assumptions here. I personally have spent $0 on VC and just save it up through Daily Bonuses on the app and MyTeam mobile also I have played through 3 seasons of MyCareer. My MyTeam lineup is:

      PG: Penny Hardaway
      SG: Michael Jordan (97-98)
      SF: Scottie Pippen (97-98)
      PF: Chris Bosh
      C: Walt Bellamy
      B: Lou Hudson
B: Paul George (mid season Emerald)
      B: Jeff Hornacek
      etc....

I agree that I have many games that are WAY too close for how stacked my team is but that makes it more fun sometimes. If you save and use your VC right there is no reason to buy any and not have a great team

Track play style and group those that play sim with each other, and those that play 2kjam with each other - everyone's happy, everyone wins.

Instead, sim players get thrown into cheese matches with nba jammers and it ruins the overall experience and the true art of the game of basketball for those that appreciate it and want to replicate it.

So in other words you're mad because the guy you're playing with isn't playing the way you're playing? Oh the horror.

Seriously. What do these kids want? If you want to play real basketball then go play real basketball. There are plenty of issues with this game and 3 pointers being too easy to make is definitely one of them but the game is still the best out there. Go pick up live and come back and thank your lucky stars you're not stuck with that craptastic game.

it's not the game it's the players. and 2k cant do anything about this.

Even if they tuned the game folks would still play the same way.
Make or miss folks would still hoist up a lot of three's, still drive to the basket with Lebron, and still spam the steal button.

I dont play on line, so I have no complaints, but I feel your pain.

IMO, offline, 2k14 is the best to date

These "kids", I assume you meant me but aight, want 2K to pay better attention to how easy it is to play fake ball and win.

I just spent the past 4 hours playing real basketball like I do every day, doesn't mean I come on 2K to play NBA jam, if I wanted that I'd play NBA Jam.

I played Live, it's terrible...like I said this game is the best basketball game I've ever played, it's the players that ruin it.

It shouldn't be that hard to tune the steals down, and draw charges at the three point line. It shouldn't be hard to make sure players like Robert Parish are out-boarded by guards.

People have all-gold lineups that should never work; I just played a team with Gerald Green at point, then Kobe, Lebron, Paul George, and Ibaka.
I have Joe Dumars, Byron Scott, Dr. J, Luol Deng, and Robert Parish.
My team actually has an identity, I actually built my team and try playing the right way, but somehow the other team actually works.

The main problem to me is on-ball defense. Idk if it's the lag, or just how the game is, but I can barely stay in front of people and I refuse to play off ball d, because again that's just too lame to me.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

How many other people avoid playing online altogether because of the type of "basketball" that is played.

I would say 2k at least somewhat cares about sim given the depth of just the playbooks and play assignments, let alone everything else, but it all gets lost online where the main type of ball you find is, well, the type of ball that this person is avoiding.

                      Realistic? Haha.

Lets be real here. 2K is where they are because Live is out of business and all those cheese heads that played Live had to come to 2K cause there was nothing else out there. IMO, 2K has been on a downwards trend since 2K11. 2K7-2K11 was a great improvement. Now they've just become stagnant. You see where Madden is and how they cater to the simheads right? 2K can do whatever they wanna do because at the end of the day, we're still going to buy the game. And if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why cater to the simheads? Simheads aren't going to spend $80 to have an All-Gold team pack or whateverthehell MyTeam calls it. And to be quite frank, everyone thinks they're a simhead. The word sim gets thrown out so loosely now, it's lost it's meaning. Hell, I'm the only person I know that runs set plays in online ranked matches... have that mug set on auto with play vision on full.

The problem is people come on here to play 2K and not basketball. The hoopers are out there. The simheads are out there. I for one, am one of them. And if you want another hooper to hoop with, and a whole community of people that play real basketball and sports for that matter, my gt is d11king.

EDIT: I will say this though. I can't really hold anything against 2K for 2K14 on next-gen simply due to the short timing they had. But 2K15, with all the things they are able to do on next-gen now and having somewhat of a foundation, 2K15 better blow every basketball game ever released to date out of the water.

Lol you can't call yourself a sim player if you don't run plays, I don't think people understand that. I know a lot of times I have to abandon playing like that just to hit a few cheesy three's just get back into a game while the other guys turbo'ing into the paint with Jordan constantly.

I just won a close game like that and I don't understand why players don't lose a lot more stamina when they hit contact layups or dunks? I know from real-life experience that you get a lot more tired doing that then just shooting 3's...
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.

Realism is hard in video games, but with the right slider set tuned to your liking you can make the game very challenging

Would you venture online more if the games were 100% sim (ie: running plays, letting said plays develop, ball distribution, etc.)?

When playing against the ai, it can be, but you are right and the sliders really help re-create a pretty accurate real life ball game.

When playing against other ppl, it should be easy to play realistic ball, unfortunately, it's not nearly as common place as one would think given the game we are discussing is and nba game...
