The game is very good at catering to all skill levels. There's a big variety of control schemes and difficulty settings. You'll definitely find a combination that works for you.

I'm an older player too, and been playing the show for years. I still use the buttons for hitting myself, works perfectly. I personally didn't like the zone hitting myself, and as the others have said, this game is great in that you can set it up however is comfortable for you. This goes for pitching, and playing in the field as well.

I agree with you. I've been playing this game since it was made by 989 Sports and I still stick with button timing for hitting. I never grasped the analog hitting or zone. As for pitching I tend to rotate. However, I always end up reverting back to meter so I guess I'm stuck in my ways there as well. It just adds a retro feel to it and it's what I've always been comfortable with. Love this sport and I love this game.

I love the Analog for hitting and pitching. For fielding I use the buttons, analog is a bit difficult, for me, on getting those accurate throws.

Just so many ways you can go and mix and match.

Whichever control method you pick, there is an adaptive difficulty level that will adjust to your skill level. Very cool stuff.

I love using analog. It`s like a game within the game.. just keeping working on striding and it can also be a challenge it`s so awesome. It makes you feel more "in the game" with analog when you control the stride

I'm kind of "old" myself, 72 on August 2nd. Now, I don't think of myself as old, but if you want to call me old, so be it. Last year, I played on Beginner mode and won practically every game until I got bored, and then moved up to Rookie. This year, PS4 and The Show 14, I am going to play on Rookie+ which adjusts dynamically to your capability, a terrific addition to this game.

I use timing for hitting and Classic pitching with auto base-running and auto fielding.

More important for us older folks is stress. If things get too tough, switch sides and relieve your stress Nah, I don't do that anymore, I've grown up

I'm a complete newbie and had never even seen a game of baseball until about a week ago. I now have a Marlins offline franchise and I'm doing 'okay'.

I stuck with the default sliders, but you can alter them to make hitting easier if you get the urge.

Button hitting on 'Timing' is the one I use. It took me a few hours to get into the swing of it (cue the groans...) but now I'm just working on improving my timing, rather than worrying about missing the ball.

Excellent game and really looking forward to getting hold of the PS4 version.
