Any new fight night info?
Looks like Brian Hayes has been doing a lot of interviews regarding the MMA franchise. In a couple of the video interviews he was supposed to address the Fight Night Franchise. I am unable to view the videos. Did he say anything of note?Chalepa Ta Kala.....Tags: None -

Looking at it now.

At the very end of the interview Hayes said there is nothing in the works for a future FightNight.Last edited by JayBee74; 04-23-2014, 02:44 PM. -
Re: Any new fight night info?
Wow is that disappointing. I guess EA is done with boxing games.
I wonder if FNC did them in. Sales for FNRd4 were terrific, but FNC did horribly in comparison.
IMO, the reason for that is that they did very little to improve the gameplay, added nearly nothing to the career mode and focused all their time and energy on a static, one-and-done, story mode with zero replay value.
I honestly believe that if FNC had a career mode as deep and robust as VB2, it would have been a hot seller.
Now it looks like EA's mistakes will cost all of us boxing fans.Comment

Well that stinks. That stupid story mode killed the franchise. They put all that time and effort into that story mode which was basically a "How to Cheese" tutorial.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Any new fight night info?
last positive news I heard from fight night is that it was supposed to be in NHL 14 in some way. I would love to see someone make a true boxing simulation with current fighters. I liked the fight night franchise, but Im getting tired of the same old roster. Pretty much been the same since KO Kings. Out with the old in with the new, I didn't think they would apply the analogy to the entire sport and just 86 the franchise.Comment

Re: Any new fight night info?
if they made a new fight night, i would rather them have a different team work on it. EA canada was TERRIBLE and clearly knew very little about boxing and just cared about visuals and action. The first 3 fight night games were amazing for their time and in some ways still better than 4 and champion. 4 and champion is where i feel fight night declined(these games were developed by ea canada by the way) You went from having rag doll physics on knockdowns to the same recycled animations on knockdowns, less customization, and slow motion counter windows among other things. I still play champion here and there, but it's a mess. It's a shame there's nobody to make a good sim boxing game with a good roster, i'm starved for one. And boxing is thriving, contrary to the cliche "boxing is dead/dying" stereotype a lot of people will try to say about it.Comment

Re: Any new fight night info?
Not sure anyone is interested in sim/text games, but Title Fight Championship Boxing 2013 is out and getting pretty decent reviews.
However, what I'm most excited is that the developers have promised a full-fledged manager's mode for TFCB 2014.
You can use real fighters (dead, retired or current), randomly generated fighters, or a mixture of both.
I'm really looking forward to that. I know it's not a 'playable' game, but I think I'm more interested in this aspect of boxing than the actual gameplay.
It would be awesome if there was a combo of the two, but considering we may not see a console boxing game for years to come, at least we have this option.
Speaking of which, I believe it was revealed that the creators of this game reached out to EA Canada in hopes they could work with that team in helping their career/managerial mode.
Unfortunately, EA Canada declined. It's a shame too.
If I were making a baseball game and OOTP reached out to help me with the franchise mode, I would not be turning them away.Comment

Re: Any new fight night info?
This is what I expected. I doubt we see an EA boxing game in the next few years if not ever. In order for that to happen, boxing would have to become more prominent in the main stream media again and the UFC would have to flutter and dwindle down.
EA is interested in Maximizing their profits, and isn't interested in making the best games possible. What Ubisoft did with Watchdogs you would not see that happen with EA. Ubisoft COULD have published the game since it wasn't a "bug" problem or "broken" mechanics problem - they just weren't satisfied as makers and wouldn't put it out in good conscience.
EA would rush a steaming pile of a boxing game if it was really the cool thing to do.
I think it will be another company that takes a shot at it or nobody does because costs are just too high to take the 'risk'.
I don't think it's smart to Maximize, but for the long term 'optimize' is a much better business approach. So if EA's UFC game isn't VERY good, it might not sell, or at least the second iteration. Their marketing is amazing and will create buzz and a lot of sales, but if the product is akin to Live, it could tank and EA would potentially think that the fan base isn't as strong as they though as opposed to the game isn't good enough.
Those are my thought anyway.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

I have no doubt EA UFC will be a big hit financially.
I just pray, for MMA fans sake, that EA doesn't crap the bed on the sequel like they did with FNC.
If UFC 2 has a static story mode and little-to-no upgrades to it's career mode and gameplay, I can see it tanking in sales and then 'bye-bye' UFC game.Comment

I seen that Top Rank is partners now with PS4. Could that be an early sign of a ps4 exclusive maybe for a boxing game???Comment

Nah. Its just for streaming prelim fights. Top Rank's promotional contracts dont guarantee video game rights anyway. Also, I dont know how happy I would be with a video game with no Golden Boy fighters.Comment
