    Historic Rosters for 2014

    Hey everyone interested,

So I've decided to continue on with the concept that I was doing last year. The late 80's/early 90's were some of the most enjoyable baseball years that I remember. Lot's of great players/childhood heroes etc from that time. These were the last few years before steroids came into play and changed the game. Last year I did '88-'89 and '90.

This year I plan on doing a '92 set, then '91 and then '90 again. Things will be just like last year. It will be a 25 man roster with a few top prospects, and 5-10 fringe players from each year placed in AAA They will be on the 40 man roster if they appeared in the majors that year. Players faces will resemble the counterpart, equipment/stances/delivery will be as close as possible. Attributes will reflect how the player did in that particular season. The pitchers repertoire will again come from the Neyer/James book. Top prospects will have the "top 50" tag, players will again not have the annoying green R or "top prospect" tag if they are not that year.

Depending on how things go, I might import '88 and '89 over later. Lastly, if enough people are looking for it, I was thinking about importing the "All Time Roster" that myself, Maize, scooter and a few other guys created for '12. That was probably the most impressive set I've seen on the game. Looking forward to the 6th.

That is super sweet. What a great thing having a multi platform vault now!!!

I am going to bust out my Upper Deck set from 92......and figure out what team to run with eventually.

I wasn't planning on starting a thread yet, but when I saw your thread I figured I better speak up.

I'm currently working on a 1991 set. I am going to be doing 40 man rosters though. I was, however, planning on finding someone who could do faces, stances, deliveries and equipment. I am also doing attributes based on the 1991 season and pulling pitcher repertoire from the Neyer/James book. I am in the middle of laying out all the teams and players with ratings and info in a google docs spreadsheet.

If you would like to collaborate in some way, just let me know. It's been some time since I have done classic rosters for The Show, I think my Classic teams roster I did was for '10. I figured it was time to jump back in with the release of the PS4.

I've already got '91 done on '13 (everything but changing cleats color/changing a few pitchers repertoires etc). I was just going to copy them over.

As far as collaborating goes, I've pretty much got everything set up the way I like it. I've learned that it's hard to get people on the same page, so it gets a bit frustrating at times. I'm fairly meticulous when it come to getting ratings as perfect as I can. guys wearing the correct equipment from that year, and getting a face that looks fairly close to the real thing. There's a lot of work that goes into everything being "right". It's just a lot easier for me to do rosters by myself. Hope that doesn't sound too smug

That's cool. I'm the same way when it comes to ratings at least. I usually end up simming seasons multiple times and adjusting ratings as needed after I've got all the preliminary ratings done.

I did my classic rosters from The Show '10 by myself and planned on doing these myself. I was going to try to subcontract out faces at the very least once everything else was done, but I may try tackling that on my own this year. At any rate, I look forward to what you put out for this year and in the mean time I will be slaving away at my own rosters

It was either 10 or 11, because it was the one I enjoyed the most of all time. PLEASE be highly visible when these 1991 gems are done...I don't think I have enjoyed a roster more than the one you made last (and I tried talking you into doing it the next year, but you went absent for a while)!

So here's what I'm going to go off for an All Time roster. It's basically what we did a couple of years ago. added a few newer guys (McCutchen, Trout, Stanton etc). If there are any players that anyone feels should be added, I can slide them in. 2 more days and I'll get this rolling.

Are people still interested in sets like these? Not seeing all that much interest right now. I was thinking about shifting gears and doing an All Time roster to start off with.

Your 88-90 sets last year were incredible!

As far as an All-Time set…….would love to see that!

I'm making all the players from the 1990 set I did last year, just going to add all of the extra players from '91 and '92 and add them into the minors. After that base set is done, a '91 and '92 set will be easy to put out afterwards. I've got the A's and Giants completely done so far. (about 60 players)

I've been itching to make some old timers with the new hair options (mini afro, mullets etc), just to see what they look like. Looks like they added a bunch of new stances as well, finally have a real Rickey Henderson stance, pretty cool stuff. Either way. I'm spending as much free time as possible plugging away on these.
