MLB 14 The Show OSFM Hybrid Roster - V1 Release

Just did 3 season on osfm v2 and here are averages...

15 hitters @ .300+
27 hitters @ .290+
15 hitters over 100 RBIs

Big differences here especially in RBI category, in hybrids I rarely saw more than 6 guys over 100(ive ran about 15-20 sims today) and even worse on 2-3 season not 1 NL guy had over 100 rbis in the season! Whips are too low and I know its a pitchers era but the top 15-18 guys shouldn't be sub 3.00 era either! It will be interesting to see if the pitch edits make any difference, or make it worse!

WOW, I'm honestly speechless. I was one of the proponents of the dude who came in here complaining about only seeing three .300+ hitters, but apparently this is an issue with OSFM and OSFM V2, which clearly shows it's an issue with the sim engine in general and not the rosters. Willard said he tried to combat this problem, but in all his sims, he just couldn't and it was eating at him. Very interesting! Good job, guys!

I ran a couple more and highest I got was 18. ranging HRs of 37-52, which seems pretty crazy.

I think they should of been left on the 40 man roster though because when you start a franchise they'll all be left in A ball for the season when some of them will still play this season IRL

Well players on the 60 Day DL are not on the 40 man roster in real life. But I agree, browsing through my sims I saw guys like Matt Harvey and Profar in A-Ball at the end of the season, which is concerning. Although that's more of a The Show problem and not a OSFM prob.

Injured players

Not all the "injured" players have been taken off the 40 man roster though

And Willard's roster has anywhere from 3-16 .300+ hitters and 25 .290+ hitters. Seems quite comparable.

Why is there a lot of major leaguers in A ball and off the 40 man rosters

Those players are on the DL. Easier stashing them there then messing with the Triple-A and AA rosters. If they are off the 40-man, that means that they are on the 60-Day DL, and do not take up a spot on the 40-man. Since you cannot injure guys outside of Franchise mode, that's the only way to really do it.

Although look at 100+ RBI guys on the hybrids, also HR's! Both are way too low, pitchers are too good imho!

Just ran one with OSFM v2 and had 9 .300. High was Mauer at .328. Surprised.

My issue with OSFM v2 is that since so many people contributed, it doesn't seem to be equal across teams. I know teams will be better than others, but it just seems inconsistent. Or maybe that's just the butthurt Cubs fan in my talking. -shrug-

nah you're definitely correct. That's why when you pull from real data like the hybrid, there is no bias.

I think it would be interesting to see what OOTP ratings would do on the Show. It seems like the batting, fielding, and baserunning ratings could actually work well, especially the latter two (which is all that really needs solved, pitching seems fine). I might try to play around with OOTP ratings when Hybrid v2 comes out. Only issue is that there are player discrepancies between the two, but that's pretty much only among lower level prospects, intl prospects, and some org guys.

One guy for example that has major differences on hybrids compared to osfm v2 is Puig. In hybrids he hits about .270 with 25-28 hr on avg, on v2 hes more like .300+ and 35-40 hr!

But when you start a franchise those players that aren't on the 40 man will get stuck on A ball all year

Do you guys think Lawrie's main position should be 2b? He plays there more this year because of Juan Fransisco. 13 out of 19 games this month he has played 2b.

I don't because Francisco on plays against righties and the Times Francisco does play he gets replaced late in the game by tolleson abd Lawrie moves back to third

The CPU teams, I can do my team manually because the spots are left open which is why I don't understand why they were taken off in the first place becaue they haven't been replaced by anyone

They were taken off in 1st place because people wanted original opening day rosters, true to life when they start their season.
