Foul limit should be reduced to 4 in online games
Increase the amount of FATIGUE drastically for gamers who spam the steal button.
Player movement should be reduced by 75% at least.
In a game with only 6-minute quarters, 2K needs to FORCE spammers to make substitutions.
Or make them more susceptible to 'cheap fouls' & random blocking, tripping, or grabbing calls.... ONCE THEY STOP REACHING.
NOT WHILE THEY ARE 'IN THE ACT' OF REACHING.
That way, they won't KNOW when they are vulnerable to getting a whistle blown against them. And would foul out unintentionally more often, for using 'cheesy' tactics.
Right now, there is NO penalty for spamming steal. And with enough practice, 'cheesers' can control the fouls by hitting the steal button just enough to be HIGHLY aggravating, but not enough to get a foul. (ie when the ball is in the air, being passed around the perimeter)
Take that control away from them.
Make them play honest 'position defense' by moving their feet, instead of wildly reaching-in.
The easiest way to accomplish this is to make the CPU-controlled teammates amass quick, cheap fouls.
ie if a player is primarily controlling Lebron on defense (while chasing & double-teaming every ball-handler around the entire court) and keeps constantly spamming steal... then his teammates who the CPU controls (like Bosh, or Wade) should be picking up more & more cheap foul animations (away from the ball) because of the over-aggressive behavior. And vice versa.
It ain't that hard to code.
Ever see the animation when you (manually) grab a rebound, but your CPU-teammate suddenly pushes someone else to the ground (for no reason at all) at the same time and gets called for a foul?
THAT should happen more often whenever spammers keep hitting the steal button.
Bottom line... If you keep reaching you get tired real quick, pickup fouls real quick, or your teammates foul out unintentionally on cheap 'touch fouls'.
That would put an end to spamming the steal button... once and forever.
But 2k would probably never do something as simple as this, unless it requires spending VC somehow to accomplish.
