I'm not a tech guy so I don't even know if this would be worth the risk, just saying they could begin production without the license.

Hope that makes sense and I could definitely be wrong on this.
The only issue with that is I dont think the NFL is dissatisfied with Madden's gameplay. I know we all are but I dont know if they are. So I dont know what showing them the game is going to do to convince them.

What could convince them is Take Two's CEO indicating how much they would pay for a license. Money and not gameplay is whats going to make the NFL open up the license.

I don't think so. He restated his ever effective end line "take it as a rumor." He seemed convinced and sure as hell this would happen, citing that the source "is legit."

Ha sorry about this cause I'm not a business guy either, but I would think EA probably has something written in the contract that prohibits the NFL from listening to other offer until contract is up. I could be wrong but wouldn't that be considered contractual interference?

I don´t know about that. If EA extend the exklusive-deal with NFL, shouldn´t they just release a press-release/news before the E3-Event?

Wasn´t the annonncment of the last exklusive-deal before the E3-Event.

Depends on what the terms of the contract state. Lets say the EA deal has a 2016 option for the NFL....EA could argue that a pitch at E3 led to the NFL not picking up the option. EA could then sue 2k for contractual interference. It wouldnt be a strong claim but I could see it happening.

Re: NFL 2k COMEBACK? License not exclusive?

I'm hoping for 2k Football or 2k college hoops to return.

I don't care what form 2k football takes, NFL, NCAA, or custom. All would work. You know, I don't post much here anymore (Without the two games listed above I don't even come to this site all that often) but I had to chime in and say that I am enjoying this thread. Its nice to have hope.

I don't really get the whole "Debbie Downers" in this thread though. Been watching this thread for the past few weeks and there are a few posters (who I won't name), that seem to be a little too jaded. ("I've been burnt too many times to believe this! You all are fools, for even posting in this thread.") But they are here day after day after day.

I know it sucks to hope for something and then have it pushed out another year or more, but it's a game. Lighten up, enjoy life. If people like to come here and spread what little hope they have, hey good for them. If there are some lurkers like me that like to read about such hope, great.

I don't have much to add but . . . isn't it nice to have a sports game that can generate this type of excitement. I'm pretty sure something is up. More sports games are coming but I don't know which ones or when. We have been losing games left and right in the last 10 years, we might just be on the verge of getting some of them back. Might not be the two I listed at the top of the page but any sport additions are welcome in my book.

I can't imagine 2K showing off an NFL game without knowing that the licensing would be available to them. A generic football game, maybe, but not an NFL game.

Quite honestly, I'd prefer a generic game opposed to licensed. Allows for more ingenuity.

Man, he is really putting his credibility on the line even with the caveat "take it as a rumor". Are extra views worth being ostracized and publicly ridiculed. I don't personally know him or his motives but I enjoy his videos, he seems like a measured guy, but it is the internet so you never know. I have more anxiety about this then I did for traffic court this morning.

What you mean "a generic game"?

It would be a football game, but not NFL teams. Some custom league, or a league we design ourselves.

That's what gets me... If you're not sure of it, and you value your reputation, keep it to yourself or just send out a short tweet. Don't make multiple videos titled "NFL 2K TO RETURN AT E3 2014" unless you know what you're talking about.

He seems to have a good rep and he's part of the EA Game Changer program so I can't wrap my head around why he'd want to potentially draw a bunch of negative attention towards himself. I doubt EA would appreciate him fanning the 2K vs EA debate flames...

Ah. I see. With that type of game, I would create a new version of "NFL Europe" or something that in the direction. *g*

But, they must have some most-wanted-feature like pronouncing your names.

The hope would be that a dedicated player would recreate the NFL rosters from scratch. I'd be willing to devote a lot of my time to that if such game was released, but that appears not to be the case.

I have always thought there would be some potential in that. They could also do things that the NFL/NCAA wouldn't allow for: PED suspensions, Academic ineligibility, Concussions, Fans tearing down the goalposts etc. And they could tie the college to pro experience together into one seamless game. Not to mention no cost for licensing, nor the time & effort to rate all the players.
