Ive done a ton of research on this whole mp3 update debacle. Tons of internet sites around launch time wrote that the president of sony said mp3 support WILL be added in a future update. If you actually look at what was really said was that they(sony) were shocked that people were upset that the ps4 didnt have mp3 capabilities. He then went on to say that they are looking in to adding it in a future update. Realistically he never said that it was being added just that they were looking in to it.

I personally feel like it will be added eventually but It seems like it wont be happening any time soon. For whatever reason it doesnt seem to be too much of a priority.

It will be added when they finally realize prople aren't willing to spend any money on Music Unlimited.

So hopefully soon!

Spotify integration would allready be a major plus in my book.

How many times does it have to be said? With their own music service in the system Sony is in no rush to add these abilities that will cost them $$$.

You can act "shocked" that people want a basic feature that was included prior, but the bottom line is, well, the bottom line. Until they find a reason why they must include mp3 playback on the console they will not rush to get it implemented, plain and simple. Never has there been a company that is in a rush to hurt their bottom line and so long as there are even a few people subscribed to that service they can justify things however they want, they have your money.

My favorite is when I read someone say "I went and bought a ps3 again because ps4 doesn't have such and such feature." Like Sony cares, either way they have your money.

I don't know how much their bottom line would really be hurt by adding this feature. It's not like everyone is just giving up on not having the music features the PS3 had and saying well I have no option but to subscribe to Sony's music service. I have 0 use for listening to music in general on my console or just on my TV at all so a service like that does me no good and they'd never get my money for it anyway. But losing the ability to use custom walk-up music does bum me out, especially when it's a feature we've had for years on the old console.

I'm sure I'm not alone in missing those features and having no desire to subscribe to a music service anyway. So in my case and I'm sure many others they wouldn't be losing out on any extra money from me by implementing this and would be making good on something they said they would add at a later date, like DLNA media streaming, and I think it's a little ridiculous to just be an apologist and shrug and say well that's capitalism and not expect some customer service from Sony. Believe it or not some companies can care about their customers while still looking out for the bottom line.

It's not even just the Sony mp3 support. Even the songs in the game already, don't work when you amend them for your players or stadium music. I'd be happy just to have that for now. Ridiculous that it's not been fixed.

bigwill33 you're absolutely right! Although I enjoy the feature I cancelled my music unlimited because of this. If I can't get what I want (mp3) they will no longer get what they want (my $ for music). Between the console, games, controllers, camera, chargers, headsets and subscriptions I'm easily $1500 deep into this system. It's not my fault that their company is failing in a lot of other divisions. All I'm asking for is what has been standard for a console. All I hear about is this "for the gamers" line by Sony. Well Sony, mp3 playback greatly enhances my gaming experience! I purchased this system for this game and just can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet. I'm a Playstation dude through and through, but with all of its faults highly doubt Microsoft would have ever pulled this garbage.

If pushing Music Unlimited subscriptions is really the motive here, I wonder if there is a way to make Sounds of the Show work with Music Unlimited? I might consider paying for a subscription if that was the only way to get Sounds of the Show working again.
