Rumors are TB will buy him out.

Another note on the Lightning, I love the Deangelo pick, and the Garrison signing will be a nice addition. Only move thus far I'm not completely happy about was giving Cally 5.8 per, other than that another really solid off-season so far for Yzerman and the Bolts, can't wait for the season.

TB gets a 6th round pick for Gagner and Crombeen. Pretty much a salary dump. I'm sure the Oilers are happy that Gagner is back in their division as an opponent.

Yeah definitely. Plus, there's a good possibility we will see Gudlevskis or Vasilviesky (butchered his name) back up Big Ben. I just hope I never have to see #39 in net ever again. I think this team is a sleeping giant, #2 ranked prospect group right now (granted, Drouin will likely graduate from that list come Fall, but still a strong group), add that to the loads of young talent we seen last year, with a sprinkle off veteran leadership, and we have a bright future. I'm excited.

Right-hand shooters Matt Niskanen and Dan Boyle will be two of the most sought-after defensemen in free agency. The Red Wings were among numerous teams that spoke to their representatives last week during the free-agent interview period.

Boyle, according to a person with knowledge of the talks, showed some interest in the Red Wings, who like him as a short-term option (he turns 38 on July 12) and might offer him a two-year deal in the range of $5 million to $5.5 million per season.

The Red Wings are willing to offer Niskanen the maximum seven-year contract he likely will seek because he's only 27. But they might be reluctant to give him the money he's expected to command ($6 million or more per season).

There are other right-handers who interest the Red Wings, including Anton Stralman, who had a strong playoff run for the New York Rangers. But he's not the offensive-minded power-play quarterback Detroit would prefer.

Yzerman effectively freed up 5.7mil today. Going to miss Thompson though, always liked the way he played.

Wouldn't mind that at all. Although, after he owned us in the playoffs, it'd take a bit of getting used to lol.
