Re: NHL 2014 Off-Season Thread
Sabres bought Ehrhoff out and there are rumors of Detroit being interested in Tyler Myers.
I loved Ehrhoff so I'm sad to see him go. Would hate to give up Myers since he started to show flashes of being what he should be again later on in the year but if you get a great deal you have to do it.Comment

Re: NHL 2014 Off-Season Thread
To say talks are going slowly b/w #CBJ and Ryan Johansen would be a positive spin. Two sides waaaaay apart. Story in Monday's Dispatch.
This is going to be fun. From being benched in the AHL playoffs to scoring 30+ goals in the NHL in a span of a year.Comment

I don't even totally understand why they bought Ehrhoff out. Yeah he was signed for a ridiculous length of time but he was only making $4M per, I think. Pretty good value for a top 4 defenseman.Sabres bought Ehrhoff out and there are rumors of Detroit being interested in Tyler Myers.

PLEASE make this happen Kenny!
I don't think C'bus has much ground to stand on. Can they really afford to tick-off their fanbase by strong-arming the only good reason to watch a Bluejackets game?Originally posted by KobaltThis is going to be fun. Did Roy really dislike Parenteau that much? Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems lopsided for Montreal.St. Louis Blues

I think it mostly had to do with him not wanting to be there.Comment

Re: NHL 2014 Off-Season Thread
Joni Pitkanen sustained a broken heel bone on an icing play gone very wrong way back in early April of 2013. The Finnish defender was stretchered off of the ice and hasn't played since. Tragically, the talented blue-liner isn't even close to returning from the broken heel bone injury he sustained 14 months ago: Francis said he recently spoke with Joni Pitkanen's agent. Was told Joni still could not put foot in skate.— Chip Alexander (@ice_chip) June 30, 2014 The potentially career ending injury to the 6-foot-3, 220 pound defender (in addition to a broken femur injury sustained by Edmonton Oilers farmhand Taylor Fedun in preseason action) was a major reason the league adopted the 'hybrid icing' rule for the 2012-13 season. In March, Pitkanen told NHL.com that he'd "been making progress with my rehab and it remains my goal to resume my professional hockey career." Hopefully he can accomplish that. The NHL is poorer for his absence.
Damn, I wonder if he's done.Comment

Re: NHL 2014 Off-Season Thread
This is the exact reason why they should have implemented no-touch, or hybrid icing into the game years ago.
