Wow, really? How on earth do they handle fonts then? In every other sports game I've ever looked into number fonts are just a file where an artist draws each number (0-9). When in-game the engine will then take that file and render players' numbers on the front/back of their jerseys.

EDIT: I see what the problem is -- due to the way the Vikings number fonts work, the first number always has something resembling "viking horns" on them whereas the second number never does. So they'd have to make two sets of fonts.
Now the question is what's stopping them from doing that?
