The New England Patriots began a three game home stand by facing the Oakland Raiders Sunday afternoon. Just like the Miami Dolphins the week before, the Raiders are a team that didn't appear to pose a threat to the Patriots. No NFL team would willing concede defeat before even playing a game, so the game would go on as scheduled.
It turned out to be quite a game. The usually powerful Patriots offense looked weak for a good portion of the game. They weren't able to move the ball against a Raiders' defense that had was playing better than expected. That Raiders defense forced two turnovers in the game, both of them being interceptions by Tom Brady. One of those interceptions came on a drive where the Patriots were deep in Oakland territory. Oakland failed to take advantage of the turnovers. Despite that, they held a 6-0 lead until midway through the second quarter.

New England Patriots linebacker Arthur Moats intercepts a pass from Josh Freeman.
Like the Patriots' offense, Oakland wasn't able to get anything going with consistency. Their troubles on offense continued when Josh Freeman was injured after being sacked by Rob Ninkovich. With a 6-0 lead, rookie Zachery DeKing was now put in charge of Oakland's offense. While the rookie did have some good moments, he didn't fair much better than Freeman. Before Freeman had to leave the game, he had thrown two interceptions. Deking showed he was a rookie early by making the same mistakes. Those mistakes gave the Patriots the chance to take the lead after Brady threw a touchdown pass to Dorin Dickerson and Stevan Ridley ran one in.

Second year receiver Josh Boyce outruns the Oakland Raiders defense for a 62 yard score.
Oakland refused to give up and coming out of halftime, the Raiders found the endzone for the first time in the game. After that, the game became a seesaw battle. The Patriots scored again late in the third to take a 21-14 lead, but Oakland responded quickly. Early in the fourth, Oakland tied the game again as DeKing threw his first NFL touchdown to Rod Streater. However, that was the closest the Raiders would get.

Rod Streater is on the receiving end of rookie quarterback Zachery DeKing's first touchdown pass in the NFL.
The Patriots finally combined their defensive strength with their offensive muscle, finding the endzone twice more. The combination of Stevan Ridley on the ground and Danny Amendola in the air kept the Patriots' offense on the field and Oakland's offense on the sidelines. While Ridley had been effective for the entire game, he was still finding running lanes late in the fourth quarter. On top of losing Freeman earlier in the game, runningback Knowshon Moreno also had an injury that forced him out. Moreno's injury wasn't a major factor as the Patriots had played a great against Oakland's rushing offense. When all was said and done, the Patriots walked away with a 35-21 victory against the Raiders.
While this game was a little closer than the final score would indicate, the Patriots will be glad to get the win. If the Patriots can put together a complete game like they did in the fourth quarter, they'll be tough to beat. It would be wise for them to bottle that up and save it for their next game against the Miami Dolphins.

Re: Whatever Happened to the Patriot Way - A Madden NFL 25 New England Patriots CFM
After the results of last weeks game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers, there are no more unbeaten teams left in the NFL. Worrying about being unbeaten seems small when compared to the bigger picture, which is winning the Lombardi Trophy. Besides, a team's true strength is measured by how they deal with adversity. It's only week nine and there are still eight weeks left in the 2014 season. Now would be a good time to focus on the playoffs that are fast approaching. For the Chiefs and Packers, they are in the best place imaginable when it comes to playoff seeding. However, there are a lot of teams that have plenty of work to do in the upcoming weeks. From here on out, it would be a good idea to make every game count.

The San Francisco 49ers will play the Baltimore Ravens for the first time since they played each other in Super Bowl XVll. While this game won't have nearly as much weight on it as their last meeting, this one is still important for both teams. While the 49ers are currently a wild card team, the Ravens are on the outside looking in. The Ravens will have to get on the right track without the help of starting quarterback Joe Flacco who will miss this game. With Flacco set to return next week, backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor will have to see if he can keep the team afloat just a little bit longer.

When comparing this season to last season, both the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills are more than pleased with the turnaround. Head coaches Doug Marrone and Mike Cox know that the only way to gain job security is to produce a winning football team. After missing the playoffs last season, both teams are hungry for some post season action. With both the Chargers and the Bills the healthiest they've been all season, they'll put everything they can into winning this game and keeping hope alive for a playoff appearance in 2014.

New England Patriots Scouting Report

By the time the 2015 season comes around, the New England Patriots could have two new starters on the back end of the defense. With that fact in mind, it wouldn't hurt to look at some of the potential draft picks for next years draft. One of the prospects that the Patriots scouts seem to like a lot are cornerback Alan Aultman and free safety Russell Rowe. While Rowe isn't getting the attention that Georgia safety T.J. Stroman is, he has been playing well. Overall, there are some interesting prospects in this years draft.A Little Bit of Luck: Boston Celtics NBA 2K18 MYLEAGUE

Part 1

The Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans will be keeping some of the best players on defense on their current teams. With both Richard Sherman and J.J. Watt signing extensions two big free agents have been taken off the market for the 2015 free agency period. One player that will hit free agency in 2015 is wide receiver Wes Welker. Welker has been very productive for the Denver Broncos, but he will be turning 35. Testing the market might be risky.
Media Reaction
Chris Mortensen - @mortreportEA: BREAKING NEWS: Wes Welker has reportedly rejected the latest deal offered by the Broncos and will explore his options in free agency.
Matt Miller - @MattMillerEA: Seahawks were willing to go above and beyond to re-sign Richard Sherman. Monumental signing.A Little Bit of Luck: Boston Celtics NBA 2K18 MYLEAGUE

Part 2

There's huge news in the injury department as wide receiver Roddy White has finally been cleared to play by Atlanta Falcons doctors. With the team sitting atop the NFC South, this can only improve their chances. A chance is what the Washington Redskins need as last week quarterback Robert Griffin lll suffered a season-ending injury. Getting Brian Orakpo back should help on the defensive side of the ball. Also returning this week are Kyle Williams and Brian De La Puente to the St. Louis Rams and Green Bay Packers respectively.
Media Reaction
Skip Bayless - @SkipBaylessEA: Pro Bowl needs a talent like B. Roethlisberger at it. If he doesn't go, I won't watch.
Skip Bayless - @SkipBaylessEA: Wake up fans and vote R. Rice into the Pro Bowl. He's earned it to this point.
Chris Mortensen - @mortreportEA: M. Jones-Drew has been a work orse for his squad. Appears to be running all the way to the Pro Bowl.
Skip Bayless - @SkipBaylessEA: Don't tell me A. Green deserves to be in the Pro Bowl. No way he deserves the honor. #meritocracy
Skip Bayless - @SkipBaylessEA: CB B. Grimes has put on a show all season. He misses the Pro Bowl, then so should you.
Ross Tucker - @RossTuckerEA: Why aren't more people talking about A. Rodgers for the Pro Bowl? Oh, maybe because it's in January.
Chris Mortensen - @mortreportEA: Drew Brees has been making all the right decisions, but there's lots of great QBs in this league. #probowl
Adam Schefter - @AdamSchefterEA: L. McCoy is on the rise in the Pro Bowl voting. He needs to just keep putting together big games. #probowlchatter
Ross Tucker - @RossTuckerEA: Marshawn Lynch just runs so hard, he HAS to be in the Pro Bowl. Right?
Chris Mortensen - @mortreportEA: Calvin Johnson has shown off world-class hands, he deserves a world-class following. #probowlchatter
Mark Schlereth - @MarkSchlerethEA; just vote Randall Cobb into the Pro Bowl already. He's an electric wide receiver.
Adam Schefter - @AdamSchefterEA: Opposing defenses have taken notice of V. Cruz, but not sure the fans voting in the Pro Bowl have quite yet.
Chris Mortensen - @mortreportEA: Charles Tillman is a ball hawk. I'd vote him to the Pro Bowl at this point.
Mark Schlereth - @MarkScherethEA: I don;t see many better performers at CB than Patrick Peterson so far. #probowl
Adam Schefer - @AdamSchefterEA: Patrick Peterson has been great this year, but he's not garnering much Pro Bowl attention yet.A Little Bit of Luck: Boston Celtics NBA 2K18 MYLEAGUE

The Dolphins had some success moving the ball, converting 53% of their third down attempts. The Patriots were even better, converting 68% of their third down attempts. Along with that, the Dolphins had no answers for the Patriots' passing and rushing attack. For the Dolphins to win, they'll need to stop the Patriots ground game and hope they're fortunate enough to get some turnovers. That's a tall task considering the Dolphins have forced only 5 turnovers this season. A Little Bit of Luck: Boston Celtics NBA 2K18 MYLEAGUE

There's always an interesting question that comes up after a close game like this one. From looking at the the final score, it looks like this was a closely contested game. When looking deeper into the stats, some things just don't add up. One of them is the large difference in time of possession. The advantage there goes to the New England Patriots. When looking at the turnovers however, you'll see that the Miami Dolphins had the advantage there. With turnovers having such a huge impact on a game, the question here is did the Patriots win the game or did the Dolphins lose it?

Tom Brady threw three interceptions in the game, including this one to Jamar Taylor of the Miami Dolphins.
Like they have been all season, the Patriots offense was great. They went on long, time consuming drives that took a lot of time off the clock and resulted in points. When the team found itself in a third down situation, they converted many of them. However, this didn't happen consistently enough throughout the game. That combined with the turnovers meant that the Dolphins never fell too far behind in the game.

When the New England Patriots were clicking on offense, it resulted in plays like Josh Boyce's 62 yard cath and run as well as Kenbrell Thompkins; 12 yard touchdown reception.
Even though the Patriots gift-wrapped opportunities for the Dolphins in the form of turnovers, they weren't able to take advantage of them. While the Patriots' defense did do a good job of getting off the field on third downs, the Dolphins did little to help themselves. With the Dolphins converting only 30% of their third downs, their offense never really had time to get in rhythm. The Dolphins were more successful when they didn't find themselves in third down situations.

The Miami Dolphins found some success on offense early in the game like this 20 yard run by Daniel Thomas and an 8 receiving touchdown by Charles Clay.
Even after all of that, the Dolphins still had a chance to tie the game in the fourth quarter. A drive by the Patriots stalled, giving the Dolphins plenty of time to tie the game. Trailing the Patriots 13-20, the Dolphins started a drive that could have forced overtime. When faced with a fourth down and without quarterback Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphins ran a play. Mike Wallace beat Aqib Talib and was running into the endzone when Matt Moore threw the ball. Instead of celebrating possibly tying the game, a wide open Wallace dropped the pass that fell perfectly into his hands. Dropping open passes had plagued the Dolphins all game long, and it happened again at the most inopportune time.
While the Patriots didn't "escape" with the win, they certainly are lucky to have won the game. If a few things had gone differently, the Dolphins could have been the winners on Sunday. The Patriots may not have the same luxury of making those mistakes and coming away with a win when they face the Kansas City Chiefs next week. That game could be the biggest of the season for the Patriots.
Game Ball/Extra Reps
Game Ball
Wide Receivers: The wide receivers, specifically rookie Ivan Cross, continue to make big plays. Unfortunately, Cross, who was filling in for an injured Kenbrell Thompkins, suffers an injury of his own and will miss the next few games.
Stevan Ridley: Despite a difficult start, Ridley finishes strong with 91 rushing yards.
Run Defense: The Patriots front seven holds the Dolphins to rushing offense to 56 yards.
Extra Reps
Tom Brady: Brady keeps the Dolphins in the game by throwing three interceptions.
Ryan Allen: Allen fails to pin the Dolphins deep in their own territory as two of his punts bounce into the endzone.
Media Reaction
Lavar Arrington - @LArringtonEA: Home sweet home for New England -- they get the win.

Peter Schrager - NFL Insider: At the midway point your team's in a good spot. How far do you think this team can go?
