    Next-Gen Decision

Im in desperate need for help on this decision. Idk if i should pick the PS4 or XBOX ONE. Here's some background info:
---- Haven't bought a baseball game since mvp and i would love to get back into baseball games (Obviously MLB the show)
---- My friend bought an xbox one for christmas and wants me to get one too so we can play together online in college via NHL (have our own club team)
---- Favorite games are NHL, Fifa and assassin's creed
---- I want a console that has the best graphic capability
---- I own an ACER X213H. 1080p and i use the monitor for my 360 and macbook. So I'm gonna have the new console on my desk
---- Getting either system in october for my birthday
---- Not interested in kinect at all, or any other camera whatsoever
Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

What it boils down to is what matters to you most. Playing online with your friend or playing MLB The Show ? Whichever matters to you most go with that.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

      =PS4

      =XB1

      =Both

=PS4. Most likely multiplats are going to look very similar, but PS4 has the stronger hardware

---- I own an ACER X213H. 1080p and i use the monitor for my 360 and macbook. So I'm gonna have the new console on my desk
=Depends on desk space. PS4 is smaller though

---- Not interested in kinect at all, or any other camera whatsoever
      =Both

Use both controllers places for a decent amount of time with different games, determine which you like better?

But either way this is a "you" decision as ratedmoney said. Only you can determine order of importance. Though personally, if I could only keep one I would keep the one to play with my friend.

The side you fall on in the console wars should always be dictated by the friends you have to play it with IMO. The Show is 1 game, the NHL title could be the first of many you and your friend play together. You take that future off the table for the time being going another direction.

Faced similar issues within my group of friends. Understandably a friend who could only get 1 went Xbox because his family uses the heck out of Kinect, Netflix, and other media apps while a few others went PS4-only and they're the more active gamers so that's where I went initially.

          Re: Next-Gen Decision

I have a XB1 and a friend of mine has a PS4. I've played them both, personally, I don't notice much difference. So, based on your comments, your decision should come down to the same things that effected mine:

          - Which system are your friends playing on
          - Which system are you more into the exclusives on.

For me, I chose XB1. Simply because I always had an XB console, but also because online gaming isn't an issue for me. I don't play online. I only play with my friends, in the same room. To me, I wanted to keep playing the halo series, more than I wanted to have the ability to play baseball again. Those are the only two exclusives that really concerned me. So that made my mind up...

So for you, if your NHL playing friends have XB1, it may be the route that makes you the most happy. You may sacrifice baseball, but if there's other exclusives on the XB you'd enjoy (research them) and you want to keep playing NHL with your friends, then it seems that's your choice.

Personally, I dont think you can go wrong either way. It's just going to come down to what you're going to use it for, and which one allows you to do that the best. Only you can decide.

PS4 is my main console, but playing with friends is a big deal. I suggest going with the XB1 for that reason alone. PS4 multi-plats look a tad better on my TV at least but in defense of the One, Ryse (a One exclusive) looks as good as any console game so far, so it's plenty capable.

As much as I love my PS4 if everyone I played with switched to One I would start using my One a lot more. Go with the One and gsme with your buddies, you can always get a PS4 down the road

I went against the grain. All my friends got an XB1 and I got a PS4 because I didn't agree with spending $100 for a Kinect. Now with the Kinect-less models, you pay the same amount you would for a PS4. In terms of quality, there's no difference. Despite what people tell you about 1080p, there's no way you'll be playing your XB1 and say "holy smokes guys this is only 920p, this resolution sucks".

Me getting a PS4 and saying how much I loved it made the guys I play NHL with (not the XB1 guys) who were deciding get a PS4.

Based on what you wrote, it sounds like you'd prefer the PS4. How bad do you want to play with that one friend? What do you think about MS' upcoming exclusives so far?

Saying there's no difference isn't accurate. While a lot of people won't be able to tell the difference, others on this forum have noticed differences. I have both, but always buy non-exclusives on the PS4.

I'm really intrigued by the halo anniversary. If I bought an xbox, I would probably buy that on Black Friday. But mlb the show is probably higher on my list for exclusives.
I buy multiplatform games almost all the time though. So I'm not that big into exclusives. Like I said, I mostly buy sport games, and then campiagn games here and there
Currently, I'm playing fifa 12, fifa World Cup 2010, and nhl 14 (with my friends) on my 360. Haven't bought a new title since nhl 14

After reading what you want, it looks like you should go PS4.

If you have a Gamestop in town, just go there and you can play both of them and get a feel for controllers UI and all that. That can help IMO.

                            Re: Next-Gen Decision

I had this issue in college in 2008, but still decided on PS3. By 2010/2011, my 360 friends mostly all said they really do wish they bought a PS3 instead, looking back (though hindsight is 20/20). They didn't regret their purchase, but they maybe didn't foresee what Sony was doing at the time and just instantly bought what they'd play with their friends.

I'd honestly make this push: if you think that PS4 is the superior console, buy it and force-feed that to your buddy. It's still not too late for him to make the swap if he ever wants to. I just honestly couldn't go away from a decent baseball title, so for me a PS4 is an absolute must. I also have found online play to be secondary for me in all sports games, and for shooters I'm okay with random's or OS users. Got a few buddies to play with too, but I didn't necessarily need that during college and I know for sure I won't need it now.

The choice is yours, but I will sit here and advocate PS4... and I don't even own one right now.
