So in other words, you are basically doing what you accuse EA of doing, manipulating ratings to reach a desired OVR. What I'm pointing out is that it makes no sense to have Dion Jordan and Robert Mathis having different "multipliers" for the exact same suspension. And any system that can honestly have guys like Cortland Finnegan (ranked 109/110 CB's last year in the league that took enough snaps), Derek Cox, Shareece Wright, and a bunch of other decent CB's above an elite CB such as Joe Haden is kind of a joke IMO. And don't tell me look at the individual ratings. All of Haden's important ratings are below these guys, which is not right. You can't tell me Tramon Williams is 15 points better than Joe Haden in MCV, or that Derek Cox is 6 points better. Derek Cox was benched midseason last year due to struggles and was cut from his team in the offseason in the middle of a 4 year deal. Haden just got one of the highest CB contracts in the league after being an All-pro.

I can't understand why there is so much negative passion about this. You can't compare what Dan does to EA anyway. He does it for free. LOL They charge us $60. So really if you don't like it so much why spend so much time commenting on something that won't change. You either like it or don't. Make your own site and rate guys how you want to.

Well, they didn't start doing the cone drill until 1999, so let's start that year.

1999:
Cone 7.48, Shuttle 4.36

2014:
Cone 7.33, Shuttle 4.50

Rotational Agility has improved while lateral agility has not. Very interesting.

To be honest I expected both numbers to show improvement.

I am not that knowledgeable in blocking schemes so maybe someone more qualified than I can answer this, but has zone blocking become more popular within the specified years? That was my original thought behind the strength numbers along with other spread concepts, but if it does provide a explanation I would expect OL shuttle drill numbers to improve.

For the entire population's drill times, has it been a consistent trend in the appropriate direction or does it fluctuate?

It fluctuates by draft class typically. This year's class was actually a bit less athletic as compared to other years. Otherwise, the rate of change is pretty small or constant.

I think much of this is more a beef with this particular personnel department than with me...at least it should be. I just convert the grades to Madden ratings and offer what explanation I can. I can't tell you which team they come from, but I can tell you that if you call all 32 front offices you will speak with this one eventually by process of elimination. Maybe this guy needs to do that.

BTW...There is something VERY IRONIC in his whole argument for Joe Haden. I will leave it up to you to guess what that irony is. I say no more.

I don't see what's ironic. Haden covered number 1 WRs 65% of the time (more than most CB's), faced arguably the toughest WR slate in the league, never gave up a 100 yard game, 11 games under 50 yards, only gave up 2 30+ yard plays, and only 6 td's the whole year against him. He was top 10 in passes defended/ints per target last season.The guy played extremely well. You can't tell me Derek Cox has better technical skills, the guy was cut for a reason, he struggled. These "scouting people" you use don't have a clue if they don't see that. The only way to judge a corners coverage skills is to watch him face top WRs, and Haden was one of the best at stopping them.

Wrong, they charge us $60 for the game not the ratings. The ratings are given out for free on the internet by EA as well. Id like more realistic ratings as well, I'm just pointing out that these are no better than EA's. Too many inconsistencies in this set, at least EA is consistently too high in their ratings.

But the ratings are useless without their game. Donny Moore gets paid. What does Dan owe you? He really doesn't have to explain anything.

How does that make it funny? Any scout who thinks Derek Cox is better than Joe Haden has no clue what he's talking about. A corner who struggled to cover WRs is better at man coverage than one of the best cover corners in the league. You act like this scouting department knows everything, and dismiss anyone else's opinions on a player. If you asked every single coach in the NFL who he'd want as a cover corner, all 32 would say Haden.

Here's my biggest issue and please let me know if I'm completely off for saying this but if anyone can remember back in the Sega days when we played with Barry Sanders who is arguably one of the greatest position players in NFL history we totally believed that he was worth a 95 rating. This goes the same for Jerry Rice and other superstar players of that time.

Does it not seem like we are boosting ratings at an astronomical rate. Marshawn Lynch is 95? You can't be serious. Russel Wilson at 93 is better then Vick in Atlanta in 2006? Can we all sit here and say that Clowney at 83 overall is better as a rookie then Posluszny, Dansby, Hawk, and Dameco Ryans in Madden 25?

If Manziel was in that Top 10 rookie class I was going to throw up. At least they got that right.
