Re: Destiny
Thanks for that. I'll be signing up this evening.I'll be raiding on the Xbox One. A good idea to do is join the OS group on bungie.net because some achievements/trophies include completing raids and strikes with a group.

Re: Destiny
I think most of you guys are missing the whole point here. In MMO's there are instances (Destiny Strikes) and Raids (Called the same in Destiny).
The strikes can be played with in matchmaking and can take anywhere from 20 minutes to a hour. You can still earn the currency that you can use to buy legendary gear and everything as well in these modes.
Raids are much much harder. In MMO's there are a lot of people that dont even participate in them because of the skill gap and gear gap that is dependent on them. Mostly its guilds that organize these missions and go in using lots and I mean lots of teamwork to even get past certain parts. They can take hours.
So if you cant play long or have a busy schedule then you dont want to be playing in Raids anyway. Those of you that are complaining about it this is the way general MMO's are set up.

Re: Destiny
Possible, maybe even likely. BUT not necessarily. Apples to oranges I know; but raids in just about every other MMO (this is not an MMO, just an analogy for raids) give you the option to group up with other individuals also looking to participate in the same activity via some sort of group finder or matchmaking.
Why deny that option? Of course it'd be ideal, and more fun with friends or guild mates. But not everyone has that option. Not saying the devs need to cater to every individual need, I just don't see any legitimate reason to leave it out. Seems kind of meh to me… outside of not having it EXACTLY how 1 person in the dev team saw it, why deny people an opportunity at what is supposed that be the most epic portion of their game?
I think they'll come around and add it.Comment

Re: Destiny
Everyone DOES have that option without matchmaking for raids.
If you play with a random person in the strikes or whatever they're called and they're cool, ask if they wanna do the friends list thing.
I didn't know any of the people I raided with in games, but we all found each other. It may be random but it's not hard to do. It's even easier with all of the people here playing.
And, yes, this game is an MMO. It's not a fantasy MMO, but it undoubtedly is an MMO.
You level up, persistent characters, gear 'grind', have dungeons (strikes) and have raids. If that doesn't make an MMO, then I haven't been playing them the majority of my life.badComment

Just give me a button that I can push that finds me a group of people looking to do the same thing I am. Its EXACTLY the same as multiplayer. Would every match be better? More fun? With more communication if you and 5 buddies were on the team? Yes… of course. But you can have a matchmaking for that so everytime you wanted to hop on and play you didnt need to make sure all your friends were on at the same time.
Like I said it really just doesnt make sense to leave it out.Comment

Re: Destiny
Yeah, as someone (and I know chrisksaint can back me up here, as can some others perhaps) who deals with the random raid groups in WoW (different genre, sure, same crowds)... spending hours with them would be absolutely horrid trying to get anything meaningful accomplished.
Think of this as a blessing in disguise if you're unhappy about it.
I can support this statement 100%. Although it's a convenient thing if you don't really have set times to play and I could definitely understand if you didn't have people to play with on this game because it's not exactly easy to communicate with random people.
My thinking is I don't really just want to be shooting my gun in one raid for hours at a time, seems like it'd he redundant quickly.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Destiny
Another thing to add to this is imagine the nightmarish hell it be to have matchmaking for raids that can take hours to only have people drop from them. At least with having to find friends and organize a raid there's much more chance that people won't afk on your or quit.I think most of you guys are missing the whole point here. I don't like using mics to talk to people online while I play video games - at all. Never have and never will, and I won't be forced to do so.
First thing I do is mute everyone. Friend or foe.

Re: Destiny
You and fishepa (because the 'like') don't enjoy social interaction with fellow gamers while playing?
The group of guys I play BF4 with regularly are OSers that I hadn't met or gamed with before. Now we often say the only reason we still play BF4 as often as we do is because of each other.
I'm sure there's a reason but I just don't get it. You guys enjoy the interaction here through text but not actual speaking? I find it weird myself but I understand that some people are just that way.Comment

I don't drink or smoke, I play games to blow off steam. Never felt the need to speak to others. I enjoy my games more when there is complete silence from random voices telling me what to do or where to go. I play better when I use my instincts.
Back and forth banter in forums is a better way of expression for me anyway.Comment

Sounds like the Nightfall activities are for people not interested in raids at level 20 and seems like something I'll be spending most nights tackling.

Bungie Weekly Update - 08/01/2014

Our favorite achievement is the concurrency statistic. At its peak, the Destiny Beta became the most simultaneously played Bungie game of all time. There were more people online at the same time to play Destiny than any other game in our history. The Beta was more played than even final versions of previous Bungie games. You joined forces to populate the last safe city on Earth, and blew our minds. Will the Warlocks still have the visually limited "bond" items? The Warlock is my favorite class to play, but I'm strongly considering playing as a Titan just to have the cooler class items.
If you crave flashier items for your inventory, wait ’til you see what we have in store for you in the final game. Would you say the Bond was limited if your arm was bathed in light? I’d tell you more, but I’ve already said too much. You ain’t seen nothing yet.Plenty of feedback has been received since the Beta went live and subsequently closed. Assuming that a decision can be made internally, how feasible is it to see changes made to the game at this point? Basically, is there enough time to implement changes?
We implemented changes before it ended. It happened both during our maintenance window and on the fly while you were in orbit. You were oblivious to the magical bits beneath the hood. Space magic! Let that bake your noodle.
It’s been a roller coaster, people. What should we talk about next? In one week, we leave for Germany. We should probably get to work on something we can share with them when we pay a visit to their Haus.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
