I can see where that would inject a lot of confusion into the mix. It's a shame though because when I've played 'live' multiplayer on the PC version, with turn-based play enabled and no voice communication. Everything looks and is executed pretty well. The sequencing looks right. The most annoying part of it to me is having to wait out that sweeping camera shot as its panning toward the swing camera view, from somewhere off in the distance. I'd love to just have it come up and show the swing camera view - at least as an option - without having to sit through that three of four second sequence that adds no value to the game... for me anyway.
I guess the best option if you're pressed for time and still want a quasi-multiplayer experience is to enable turn-based play while playing against a 'ghost' ball. As soon as your shot is finished, the ghost player is locked and loaded and plays with no delay. I use that more than I thought I would in the PC version, expecially on a new course.
