    Bringing Detroit a Dynasty, A Madden 15 CCM (PS$)

    A Detroit Lions CCM

The Detroit Lions, the weakest team of all the storied Detroit-franchies. The Detroit Tigers won a World Series in 1984, the Detroit Red Wings won a Stanley Cup in 2008, the Detroit Pistons won a NBA Finals 2004. What Detroit doesn't have is a Superbowl, numerous horrendous bad draft picks in the past and incompetent front office faces such as Matt Millen have held them back.

But now is a new day, with superstars in the likes of Calvin Johnson and Ndamukong Suh, they have talent, but can they put it together? This is why the man who gave them their lone bright spot in their franchise history is making a return.. not as a player this time, but as an Owner. Barry Sanders purchased a massive stake in the Detroit Lions from the Ford Family, and is looking to bring them what he couldn't as a player, a Superbowl Trophy.

            Barry Sanders buys Detroit Lions!
In very surprising news today, the former Hall Of Fame running back announced that he had purchased the Detroit Lions from the Ford Family for a whooping $900M. The cheers from Detroit Lions fans was abundant, and they couldn't wait to see what the franchises greatest player could do with the team. In a press conference earlier today, Barry spoke to the media.

BS: "Before I say anything, I'd like to personally think the Ford Family for all they've done with the franchise. They were fantastic when I was a player and now as I become an Owner, they'll still be an instrumental part of the team as we look to see numerous success from the Franchise."

"I'd also like to state to the fans that you'll be seeing a brand new Detroit Lions franchise. Looking to get back to the playoffs and eventually, a Superbowl. Thank you."

Does this mean possible trades coming to the Lions organization? What can we see in terms of stadium design? It'll have to remain to be seen but this Lions team does have talent. The question is if the pieces can be put in place to make a contender.

              Minor Trade for Detroit

Barry Sanders in just his first week is already making moves, the Detroit Lions decided to send former 5th rounder DeJon Gomes to the Bears for a 4th and a 6th. A trade between rivals? Perhaps the Bears don't feel that Detroit poses much of a threat to them as their main focus is getting revenge on the Packers who beat them in Week #17 of the 2013 Season. Gomes could very well replace Chris Conte, who was atrocious to say the least for Chicago. It should be interesting to see going forward if Barry has any bigger things up his sleeve.

Also in minor news, the Detroit Lions signed QB John Skelton to a 1-year contract. A possible replacement to Orlovsky or Kellen Moore? We'll see in preseason.

Detroit, MI: Talk about an utter embarrassment. Everything went bad for Detroit. The passing game was horrendous by all 3 quarterbacks, and the pass protection was even worse. The QBs were under pressure all night but that was no excuse for the performance tonight. To start with, every quarterback had an interception this game. You can't be having costly turnovers like that for you in the preseason, Stafford at least has somewhat of a legitimate excuse with having such terrible O-line protection, but Skelton and Moore both had weak arms and didn't throw well whatsoever, despite what Skelton's yards may indicate to you.

Johnny Manziel's 2 of 3 incompletions were interceptions to Isa Abdul-Qudus, who seemingly was the only Detroit Lion to show up tonight. This is a bad start for Barry Sanders regime, but you can sure as hell bet there's gonna be changes.

The Detroit Lions are going on the road to face the Oakland Raiders in Preseason Game #2.

                  Flurry of trades for Lions

What a day for Detroit... frustrated with the way his team played and just simply feeling moves had to be made for the future, many players were sent packing. The first deal being James Ihedigbo to the Washington Redskins for a 2015 4th Rounder and 2015 7th Rounder. The Redskins needed some veteran leadership on the secondary side, and the Lions feel as though Isa Abdul-Qudus can do a suitable job after picking off Johnny Football twice. It's a solid package for the 30-year old, and it's clear that the Lions GM focus is building towards the draft.

The next trade was a little bit more complex. It sent 28-year old left end starter Jason Jones packing. He's headed to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2016 3rd Rounder. The Jaguars Gus Bradley really wants some guys that can contribute right now and teach some of the youngsters going forward how to play. JJ fits in that category, and the Lions even start building towards the following years draft in 2016. The question Lions fans are starting to ponder now is who is gonna replace these guys?

The next two trades though.... wow. The Detroit Lions traded Nick Fairley to the New England Patriots for a 2016 2nd Round Pick. Incredible... it's such a Bill Belichick type of move. Fairley was difficult finding trade offers for, with his attitude problems and off the field issues, teams weren't exactly lining up to trade for him. But then the Patriots swooped into the fray and now have themselves a replacement for the 32-year old Vince Wilfork. Everyone knows the Patriots love finding replacements for players before they badly need them, and that's clearly seen here.

There are some questions as to if the Patriots overpaid for Fairley or not. Some believe that it's a steal if he can be an anchor on that defensive line for years to come, or if those attitude problems will keep him ever from being the special player he was suppose to be. Regardless, there's one thing for sure and that's that Belichick and New England are probably the best guys to figure out if he's legit or not. For the Detroit Lions, you take your 2nd rounder and cut your losses from Fairley who's had issues, you build forward in 2016 with that draft pick and hope you can find Suh a formidable DT teammate. But the question is, who's gonna replace him right now?

Finally, the last big trade news of the day.. Stephen Tulloch being sent to the New York Jets for a 2015 3rd Round Pick. Yup.. it's clear that the Lions are gonna be looking to revamp in the draft. The Jets on the other hand continue to build up that incredible defense and you know Rex Ryan is going to be using him to his utmost potential. The Lions are though making an interesting choice by flipping Kyle Van Noy to Middle Linebacker with this move, it opens up space for him to be a starter and grow. The question is, is that what Lions fans want to hear? A young rebuilding team? That's what's been going on for the last decade right? Well.. it'll have to remain to be seen if Barry Sanders knows what he's doing.

All 3 Lions Backup QBs Sent Packing
In more surprising news involving the Lions, they released John Skelton who they signed a week ago, Dan Orlovsky for a 60k penalty, and Kellen Moore as well. All 3 are now gone. To replace them Barry Sanders signed Seneca Wallace, as well as Jordan Rodgers, the brother of Aaron Rodgers. Interesting moves to say the least. The Lions also signed RG Harvey Dahl and RT Jeremy Trueblood. Both will serve as backups for the preseason.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in preseason game #2, there will be new starters at the LE, MLB, DT, and SS spots. Will the Lions be able to bounce back from their atrocious first game? If not then watch out cause Barry Sanders may trade Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford, and Ndamukong Suh.

Detroit, MI: That's more like is what Barry Sanders said. The Lions staved off the Raiders and the first team offensive actually played fairly decently. Megatron had his 1 big gain of the day from Stafford, and the offensive line only allowed 3 sacks.

The defense played well and it was a tight game, Matt McGloin lead the Raiders into Lions territory but down 6 they needed the TD, on 4th down he was sacked and that's how they lost. Overall, a very solid performance for Detroit as they head to the dress rehearsal game in Week #3 of the preseason where they will face the Jacksonville Jaguars at home.

Player of the Game: QB Matthew Stafford, Stafford went 5/9 for 134 yards and 1 TD. He may not have thrown a lot but when he did connect his passes went for massive gains, and for that he's our Preseason Game #2 player of the game.

                            Cuts and Signings for Detroit

Cutting the roster down to 59 is difficult, but the Lions also made some signings to see if anyone can make the roster last minute heading towards the Regular Season.

                            Cuts:
                            FB Montell Owens
                            TE Don Muhlbach
                            WR Pat Edwards
                            WR Jeremy Ross
                            WE Corey Fuller
                            LE George Johnson
                            K Nate Freese
                            CB Chris Greenwood
                            CB Cassius Vaugn
                            DT Jimmy Saddler-McQueen

                            Signings:
                            K Garrett Harley
                            CB Asante Samuel
                            CB Chris Houston
                            WR Tommy Streeter
                            ROLB Tavares Gooden

                            Brandon Pettigrew Traded!

The Lions also made a very big trade relativley with the Atlanta Falcons. This involves sending Brandon Pettigrew and a 2015 4th Round Pick to the Falcons for WR Harry Douglas. It's an interesting move in which many people believe the Lions overpaid, but with Eric Ebron and Joseph Fauria the Lions didn't see a spot where Pettigrew would really be playing. He also did have a massive bonus so Detroit didn't want to take that cap hit, in return they get their hopefully #3 WR to pair up with Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate.

As for some of the other signings, Hartley will be given 1 game vs the Jacksonville Jaguars to prove if he's worthy of being the teams #1 kicker over Giorgio Tavecchio. The team also has numerous CBs fighting for their lives as well as WRs. Currently, there are 8 wideouts on the team.. that should get down to 6 by the end of the preseason. Right now, the tight matchups are Ryan Broyles, T.J. Jones looking on the outside while Tommy Streeter, Kris Durham, and Harry Douglas are gonna have to continue performing to make the team.

There are also 7 cornerbacks on the team, that should get down to 5 by the season. Asante Samuel and Chris Houston are going to have to perform if they want to make this roster. On the outside looking in as well are Jonte Green and Nevin Lawson. Whoever of these 2 performs will make the roster. Also you have Tavares Gooden who's going to be fighting for a roster spot over Corey Greenwood.

Well that's all in terms of transactions.. not it's time to get on to Preseason Week #3!

Detroit, MI: Well that was that. It's really all Lions fans can say, Seneca Wallace simply threw the game away today. You can't throw 4 INTs and expect to win, and thus this is the result. Will he get cut for it? It's very possible knowing how Skelton was cut for a far better performance. Of course, Wallace wasn't the only issue.

The cornerbacks were utterly atrocious today, Chris Houston gave up the 91 yard TD to Cecil Shorts after he ran by him. Then Glover Quinn failed to make a tackle on Marqise Lee which woulda kept the catch to 5 yards, instead he broke free from another 2 defenders down field and scored a TD. But by far, the worst game of the day goes to Bill Bentley. He allowed the 2 touchdowns to Ace Sanders, one in which Ace got a slant and he had a bad angle, but then he got burnt so horribly on the 50 yard pass TD.. he won't survive next weeks cuts, and I think most of us can expect some surprises.

Player of the Game: Harry Douglas, the dude played simply amazing today. In his first game as a Detroit Lion, catching for 7 receptions, 90 yards, and 1 TD is very impressive. Also he did alright in the kick return game. After this game it very much appears like he's going to be slotted into the #3 spot for the Lions.
