    Screen Pass

Anybody else having issues running screen passes to the HB? I literally have .5 seconds to get the ball out before I am hit by a lineman, something seems off with the timing. The only way I get time to run a screen is if I sprint backwards with the QB right away.

I've had 0 success with any screen play. Either the ball is dropped or lose yardage. I even slide protect to that side.

I think it's more balanced this year. I have had success and I've had failure. I haven't had nearly the success as in years past. Most often I find my OL cant get to the furthest defender outside or a backside player makes the play behind the lead blockers. I'm also finding I get slowed up by my blockers if I move too quickly.

I still fear the play online as it has a tendency to be fairly effective if not ready for it. I think the balancing is a positive because it's enhanced my experience knowing I need to set the play up.

I've ran probably 6 or 7 screen plays so far one was a gain of 3-4 yards, one was a 57 yard gain, and the rest were for loss. I feel like that's about what you can expect from a screen play in the NFL.

I get sacked almost every screen play. You have to time at all and when I do get it off it mostly been for lost of yardage

Absolutely. I've felt like the screen pass has been overpowered in Madden for many years. It seems like you can defend it much more consistently this time around.

              Re: Screen Pass

Screens have been hit or miss for me. I've had a few go for good yardage (+20) but many more where I'm taken down behind the line. Or worse yet, my receiver catches the ball in the open but as he turns to head upfield, the animation has him skating in place while defenders close on him like homing missiles before he gets creamed.

Finding also that it's important to mix up play calling. The D picks up on overused plays and shuts them down much better than in previous Maddens. I usually call 3-4 screens per game and that's about it. Of those, I'm lucky if 2 get positive yardage but I have busted some huge gainers so they do work if executed.

I won't run any screen unless it's from the shotgun. Under center doesn't give me enough time

I can never get them to work, and I struggled with them in 25 as well (although some said they were easy? Maybe I am just terrible )

It just seems like the D know it is coming and blitz with the entire roster plus everyone on the practice squad when you call a screen pass.

                    Re: Screen Pass

I can complete screen passes and get modest gains out of them, and an occasional big play, but the CPU definitely defends them more intelligently this year.

I play on All-Pro and I feel like there's a good balance. I've had a couple of them go for long gains (WR screen to Fitzgerald got me 40 yards once and I had a monster 70 yard one from Dwyer), but those are few and far between. I probably average around 5 yards per WR screen and maybe 6 or 7 for HB screens.

I dont think that I explained correctly. Its not that I am getting stopped for negative yards, Im getting SACKED. I draw the defense in and when I go to pass I get hit before he gets the pass off. Its weird Ive never had any issues witht the other Maddens.

I believe that there needs to be a combo of two things to get the under-center screen off successfully: 1. manually drop the QB back, and 2. Get rid of the ball sooner. I believe there is a bit of lag with the screen pass, especially online.
I'd rather be rich than stupid.

The only problem I have had with a screen play is when I ran it, Frank Gore got his ribs broken.

Screens in this game is crap...i havent gotten one and i believe its two reasons. For one the dts and linemen run faster than the damn qbs catching a aaron rodgers or brady i understand but no way a dt should catch me if im rg3. 2nd the pass blocking is HORRIBLE in this game olineman let dlinemen go through free i have tons of footage on it.... it happens almost every pass play. I know the purpose of a screen is to let dlinemen get through and attack the qb but i think pass blocking bug has something to do with lack of screen success
