I wouldn't say that people are crying over spilled milk. When you play with your home town team or your favorite team, you notice things that others may not. Imma Saints fan, and one thing that drove me crazy about NFL 2k5 was that the helmets would be gold, but they wouldn't be metallic gold. Just a flat gold. So I kind of understand the grip. Yes it's something small, and I doesn't affect gameplay, but I don't think it's hard to fix.
