ever since 2k12 released there has been no repercussions to driving head first into shot blocking bigs like DeAndre Jordan Larry Sanders or Dwight Howard.you can run straight into a big man and dumped on him like he is Muggsy Bogues.in 2k12-14 big men cower in fear when someone attempts to dunk on them because of the canned animations 2k added.there are way too many highlight dunks in the paint especially from people like Kevin Durant.there is absolutely no reason to have a shot blocker on the court.

with all of the drastic changes 2K has made this year will or has this been addressed also? for the game to be a true simulation people need to think twice before driving to paint against Serge Ibaka or other dominant shotblockers. Ever since they went with the more casual/assessable approach in the most recent 2k versions the big men have gotten no respect.

will this be a year where a dominant shot blocker can protect the paint a will he just be another poster child?

I hope they fix it where it was useless to block anyone cause it put you in a animation where it took too long to recover and the guy you block gets the ball back no problem and scores.

I think it was lack of physics if two people collide mid air at least one is going to fall

If you're playing against a CPU team in HOF MyCareer, a 5'9" PG will make anyone in your team in the paint fall over while rebounding... while at the same time being able to make 3 shot attempts before anyone on your team can recover.

I'd like to see shots become significantly altered when a player is contested by a premier shot blocker. It's currently too easy to drive right at someone like Roy Hibbert without an awful shot being thrown at the rim.

I'm not really sure if we'll fear the shot blocker, because there are a few things that need to be corrected in order for us to even acknowledge that there's a big man lurking in the paint.

I've played a number of games where I've logged 10+ blocks, but most of them were meaningless because it the person I blocked would recover the ball immediately. So number one, the super reactions have to go because a block means nothing if the other team got the ball back immediately and scored.

And number two would be finishing ability. All big men go unrewarded for great interior defense because when you force the person driving at you into a contact layup, they're still finishing them at a high percentage. No one is going to fear the shot blocker if they aren't forcing missing at the rim.

There's also the issue of shot blockers being ineffective if they're not athletic. Bogut has a very high block rating as well as real life block stats, but because he has low verticals, he gets fewer blocks than say Iggy (or any athletic big man).

The game needs to respect the rating more than the physicals. Instead, it seems to doubly reward physicals, because the rating is influenced by real life physicals in the first place, and then there's the physical boost added again.

To answer the question I think the answer is yes but not just the fear the shot blocker I think they redid the help defense so you don't always have to block everything I think there will be better help defense to draw contact and force contested shots this year that will miss.

i haven't seen that the main things i see are animations pushing defenders out of the way say steph is driving in and larry sanders is trying to block the start up just pushes sanders back under the rim he can't contest and usually picks up a foul another thing i see is lack of offensive rebounds on my team whenever my teammates have one the cpu either warps the ball out of their hand or just simply knock it out and recover it.

also there are way too many hands up fouls called i can't count how many times my teammates get good position and hold their ground only to be called for the foul while my teammates do the same against the cpu and don't get the call

I have to agree on this. Hibbert, Duncan, and Bogut fall in this category of low verticals but get a high number of blocks. They have good timing good hand eye coordination and don't necessarily use high verticals to block shots say 11ft in the air.

This. Also, it's really easy to block shots this year honestly. Both my heat and lakers gm modes lead the league in blocks, and IMO it's unrealistic. A lot of times i've blocked someone going up for a layup with ray allen or some other non shot blocker. They really need to differentiate between who's a shot blocker and who isn't, because as of now,it's pretty easy to get blocks for the wrong reasons.

What appeared to happen at least to me was in 2K13 they took out a lot of blocking especially blocking dunks didn't really exist. They over corrected in 2K14 and now we end up getting more blocks in situations we probably shouldn't of had but then they sort of muddied the waters by allowing a high number of blocks to be recovered by the same team for easy baskets.

Hopefully in 2K15 we get blocks by the guys that should be blocking, guys stepping up and forcing contact to lower shots success and less highlight dunks, less of that blocks going back to the same team. Basically I hope all that "Sit-Tech" involves this as well.

Nothing they can do with that unless you want "live ball" to disappear. If you time it right you should be rewarded. Players controlled by users on defense aren't subject to the block rating

I disagree on this point.

1. They dont have live ball in 14.
2. Point guards and other non shot blockers shouldnt be exploding thru the air like ibaka to block shots. I dont have a problem with dame lillard exploding thru the air to block al horford but they either need to call a foul when he blocks the shot or give him some poor shot blocking animations that match his rating.

3.All non shot blockers should get weak or ineffective shot blocking animations, which give
them the opportunity to contest but cause them to commit a foul more often then not when going for blocks.

4. Even a tendency that has go for foul vs. Go for block and make the go for foul tendency higher for non shot blockers.

I respectfully disagree with point number 4. If shot blocking is going to be determined by a tendency, things could go haywire similar to our issues maintaining the Alley-oop and foul tendency which can rise and fall in just the span of one game. What if there's a game where we're called for a lot of fouls, thus resulting in the foul tendency rising to the point where it could negate the shot blocking tendency of a big man. And what if a guard got in a number of lucky blocks. This tendency might turn him into a 'shot blocker' so to speak.

Now I'm just speaking hypothetically, but player tendencies can really effect user game play and create some weird simulated stats for players.

Rather than a tendency, I think it would be better if real shot blocking animations were unlocked through a signature skill (such as Eraser) that only players with high block and hustle ratings can have. This way, only the players that should be blocking shots such as big men (and maybe the defensive SF) have access to these animations while the other players will stick to contesting.

But like you said, if you get a hand on the ball, your rating shouldn't mean anything. A block is a block. But the rating should determine how aware you are as a shot blocker and how you will try to block a shot in each situation.
