I don't recall ever recovering an onside kick in any Madden game ever. Seen the cpu do it vs me plenty of times though.

I know a lot of ppl online was recovering by boucing them off the receiving teams players that was last yr not sure if that works in 15 or not.

I'd really like to see things like this have varying outcomes. It seems that onside kicks are impossible to recover, at least in a realistic fashion (kicking the ball off an receiving player is not realistic). Also, field goals are virtually impossible to block in my experience, as are punts. And I'm starting to think it's impossible to run a kick or punt back for a touchdown as well.

For such a low probability play there shouldn't be an answer to "How to recover."

Not sure what you were looking for but the fact that there isn't an answer to that question is a good thing.

I've blocked a fg in 15.... this is second time I've done it in madden also blocked a punt but that was back in 12.... I've had couple KR's for td's u just have set up your blocks.

I've run kicks back for TDs, never blocked a kick or punt though, but I have recovered onside kicks, only when I surprise people online with them. never against the hands team, I don't think you can. the CPU has never recovered one on me either.

someone recovered one me when I chose onside recover formation. They were down 10 at the start of 2nd half..smh

I've recovered one onside kick in ultimate team this year. It's the first time I can ever remember recovering one in Madden. Seems like a luck thing.

obviously im not looking for some 100% cheese trick I just want to know how to have a reasonable chance at recovery.. you know like in real life

there is no kind of strategy to onside kicks. it's the same system they've had for the last few years, there is only 3 outcomes. ball is caught by receiving team, ball warps into the hands of the receiving team, or the receiving team can't catch or pick the ball up no matter what happens.

it's really a joke.

I've been practicing them and have recovered one in about 40. They are pretty rare although not sure how that stacks up vs real life...

My best bet is usually kick it short and hope the return team touches it and then I can recover it. The only issue is obviously getting a penalty for the ball not going far enough if one of my players getting it essentially putting the other team in field goal range which all but kills any chance of a comeback.

I don't think there is any kind of strategy to it, I think it's simply luck. I recovered one against my friend online, but I have never done it against the computer. Special teams on madden seems impossible. Like many have said so far, blocking field goals and punts almost never happens. The only time I have ever blocked a punt was online and I had the guy backed up on the 1 yard line and I sent the house.....but he wasn't in max protect either. I think that says a lot. lol
