Should a non-diehard NHL fan buy this game?

I haven't bought an NHL game for about 7 years. I just got back "into" hockey and watching it on TV. Is this game worth $60 for someone like me?

I've read all the impressions, that the gameplay is good but the missing game modes turn many people away. But, from my personal perspective, it seems like this game might be worth the asking price.

    What say you?

I'd argue the game was created for the non-diehard fan. Have you checked out the demo yet?

Do that and go from there. It's a pretty good indication of what the game is. I find sliders crucial, and you can't touch them in the demo, but if you're not a crazy hockey guy then perhaps it won't matter as much.

I appreciate the responses. I always use custom sliders in NCAA and Madden so I'm sure I will tweak sliders in NHL.

I love hockey but not a big fan of sports games. Last one I played was 12 so even with all the missing modes I ended up getting the game as I waited long enough. I'm usually pretty casual with sports games, leaving all the sliders alone but I'm thinking I may try adjusting it this year.

Missing modes....is half naked...i mean even if you have excellent gameplay but you cannot play the modes you like....what's the use of it...right? IMO, it should be $30....i dont care if they will add it "later"...coz i dont know how long should i wait. These modes and the features missing should be there at the very first place.

I will pay for $60 good for a year play and not less than that.

Canuck, I completely agree with you. EA sports has been cutting game modes when they go to "next gen" for a long time now. However, all I do in terms of game modes are dynasty type modes. That still seems to be in this as "GM mode" I believe. If I can play with my team for 10+ years and pick up free agents and what not, I will be happy.

The not being able to draft is very disappointing, even as a novice NHL video-gamer.
