Any word on this? I tried my best to support the game until after I played it for a significant amount of time. It's severely lacking in my opinion and a part of me hopes that the game suffers financially because of it. I honestly think they should have waited to release the game until NHL 16 (on PS4 and Xbox One).

I know Walmart in Canada is putting the game on sale for 49$ from September 18-24. I'm guessing it didn't do too well on next gen.

Be careful what you wish for or the only hockey game you'll be playing next year is a text sim on your pc.

WHY so many people have this kind of thinking? NHL is a milkcow for EA. This is the reason why they put so little effort to improve this game...because many will still buy no matter if its just a tad improvement or backward step from previous release.

What we want to see is that EA start treating their consumers right. Releasing the game with bare essentials such as in BaGM... or BAP that cannot sim to the next shift etc...is purely BS.

IF, and that is a big iF, the will not produce another NHL so be it.... I love the game of hockey....but I cannot stand a video game that cannot replicate the excitement of the game I love.

Excellent post and to the POINT!!!!
if ea hockey goes the way of the dodo bird so be it. I am more than confident that if there's a market for it another company will fill that void. And hopefully a better one at that!!

Numbers probably won't be available until next week since it's only been a week from release.

How do you know this? 2k stopped NHL because they lost money.. you think NHL sales are like Madden or FIFA?

And speak for yourself, I find the game fun so far in my BeaGM mode.. the on the ice game play is better than 13 or 14 in my opinion.

I love it when someone says, "oh they put so little effort into the game" like they know how much actual man hours were put into the game. I doubt they have the same resources as Madden or FIFA.

Who among us thought there would be no baseball game on the Xbox or PC? A hockey game could easily disappear. But, frankly, as I said when EA Sports exited the PC market - if all you are going to give us is a crappy product at a full price, don't even bother. This year is the first year since . . . damn . . . '05 I think . . . that I am passing on the NHL game. Just not enough improvement to make me pay more than about $20.

They lost money because more people were buying EA's NHL. Not because no one wanted a hockey game.

I think the point of those posts is more that someone will step up and fill the void. I highly doubt nobody would be willing to step in if EA stopped making NHL tomorrow and get in on that money. They know that there's a market, and there's an obvious demand. EA was the name in baseball for the longest time, then 2K sports stepped up, and so did the crew making The Show, and EA (with the help of a stupid "Exclusive License awarded to Sega") stopped making baseball games.

Someone's going to get the money if it's sitting on the table. Right now EA's doing it, and they've done well enough that no one has seen fit to step up and challenge them. It's an expensive start, but if EA dropped NHL tomorrow, someone would step up, and i'm sure the NHL would be more than willing to work with whoever that would be to gain the revenue and attention they get from games like EA's NHL.

You are probably right that the NHL team doesn't have the same resources as Madden or FIFA but that is not the consumer's problem. EA charges the same price for NHL as they do for Madden or FIFA so consumers have every right to expect the same quality in the product.

I believe there is a market on the PC. A niche market for sports tyhat could grow over time. What if a hockey was made around realism? Maybe a kickstarter, maybe not. Start on the PC, grow from there.

Question. Would you buy and play a hockey game that didnt look as good as EA's but looked pretty good, BUT played excellent, realistic, strategic, teams felt different and was highly moddable? It also came with a kick *** player editor.

Yeah, it might not look as good as EAs but it played like a dream. I would be all over that.

It can be done, it needs a push.

Yup, I could care less how many resources they have. And my statement about the amount of effort or time put in were based on the product they put out.
                              Plain n simple it's a joke.
We're talking about ea here, remember ea? It's not like it's a start up company that just dropped the ball this year. I can only shake my head at the ppl who are actually sticking up for this year's game!! If you enjoy the game, that's good, nothing wrong with that, but for gods sake take off the frickin blinders already. Hell apparently bagm mode doesn't even keep correct stats... Really?? If this is true, what's the excuse for this one? Ohhh I know it's a new console... Drag that excuse out for a couple years.
Bottom line just as nhlandpesfan said, they charge the same damn price for hockey as they do for any other title, so don't hand me the 'Oh we don't have the resources' line.
Makes no damn difference to me, and apparently it doesn't make any difference to them either, thus the 60 dollar price tag.
I predict it will take 2 more game cycles just for this franchise to be up to snuff to what it was before the ps4 even came out, and that's at best!!
Honestly I think the best thing that could happen would be for ea to step away from hockey period!!
